Forums - Microsoft - Can you purchase a kinect 2

Important question:

Can you buy kinect 2 standalone? And if so, how much? I saw a kinect2 dev kit that includes Kinect and an SDK alpha (and then later, beta, and final whenever they release) for 400$

What do you do if Kinect breaks?

Contact Microsoft to get it fixed I assume? Or to buy a new one from them.

Until they make a separate SKU, id imagine MS just gives you a new one.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Under warranty you mean, right?

Surely you will be able to just buy one direct from MS. Either that or a new console will be needed.

It will probably be like the Wii U gamepad where people have to call Nintendo and go from there.

It's just that simple.

You call Nintendo and go from there :P

I have no idea, but I'd guess they'll either direct you to their website and continue there or (that was the case when the disk drive of my Wii "broke" a few years ago) will ask for your address and send you a box in which you'll put the gamepad in and send it back to Nintendo. Then they'll send you a new one.

No idea. Anyone have insight on this?

I just recall Nintendo saying it would be a option, before launch. I don't know how that works.

Things break yah know ;)
