It seems to utterly destroy some individuals on the inside

Ever held? hmmm than its pretty obvious isn't it? They never held the Xbox One controller.

I think I would trust smaller devs more than I'd trust any company in a timed-exclusive contract. But yeah, does seem unfair. |
insomniac and turn 10 are in a time-exlcusive contract? Hmm interesting.
Anyways this thread is just hilarious, like others have said the dev is only talking about controllers he has used, who knows what he has used. If this was about the X1 controller we would see dozens of comments nitpicking and scrutinizing this entire article, but fanboys will be fanboys.

You and your lot have done just that so far here. ¬_¬

Hey just pointing out the obvious. The title is also so misleading. But heck, whatever floats your boat.
Good for him. Dualshock will never be my favorite controller, though, because I stopped liking symmetrical sticks nearly a decade ago.

Blame the author, not the OP for the misleading headline.

Until Sony moves the sticks to the same placement as the Xbox controller it will never be as good to me and millions of other Xbox controller fans. |
As a PS2 to Xbox gamer back to PS3 and a very intensive analyzer I can tell you that stick placement preference is highly dependant on familiarty of use. At first I thought the Xbox controller was uncomfortable due to the stick placement. Mostly when they had those attrocious nomad controllers but even with the updated S and 360 controller. Granted the transition is faster when using an Xbox controller but that isn't related to stick placement as much as it is to controller ergonomics.
After much though and test among myself and others the discomfort of stick placement is a result on muscle memory and not primary and secondary placement schemes. While I will admit there is strength in that arguement, it is a result of the design of the handle. Proper handle design is the important factor in determining the comfort of whatever design position is used. The user has to overcome familiarity in order to properly develop the muscle memory to operate a controller. Myself currently being used to the DS3 found it much harder to controller the Wii U's controller whose analog sticks are both in top positions. Harder than the Xbox controller due to having to adjust both hands.
As it happens to turn out the Dualshock's original design, DS1-3, wasn't made to properly transition the hands to their analog placement. While workable, it is more disicult than a properly designed controller, like the Xbox controller. They are both viable controllers, one is just easier to adjust to than the other thanks to more comfort. The DS4 looks to upgrade the comfort and users should find that the difference between the controllers where not related to stick placement, despite stick placement will still require muscle memory adjustments, the DS4 will make it easier to adjust to than the DS3 made it.
So think, instead of a week to adjust from Xbox to PS, and only a couple days from PS to Xbox, they will both only take a couple days and still both be very comfortable.
Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

You're still complaining to the wrong person, the OP steers discussion and his intent is clear from the thread title. Had you read the thread from a unbiased viewpoint you'd have seen clearly why the discussion went the way it did. My blind loyalism is why I own all last gens consoles, PC and a tablet. Might want to get your facts straight yourself, I have preferences but that doesn't stop me buying a product, I'm not some 12 year old child.
