the 360 is hacked and isn't affected by this! the ps3 gets updated way too often for any hack to make any significant progress, before it gets knocked down to square 1 again.

Do you have to void your warranty to hack your 360? Because this PS3 exploit I'm guessing you're just going to have to download something which isn't going to void your warranty.

Note: I don't own a 360, so I could have this wrong, but this is what I've gathered from the internet/people I know who have modded.

Technically yes, but unless MS has any way of seeing that you've opened your console, as long as your DVD drive is still flashable, it is simply a matter of reconnecting it to a PC and reflashing the original firmware.

In order to mod the 360 you have to open it.  If you open the 360 (or any current console) there is a seal that's broken and your warranty is void the moment that seal is broken.

I was fairly sure they'd have something, but as I said, not owning one I wasn't entirely sure.

where i live, piracy is very very rampant and they sell "backup copies of xbox, xbox360, ps, ps2 etc etc games" everywhere.

But somehow, the xbox360 hack and piracy isnt much of an issue coz people dont want to void their warranties.  this is mainly due in part to the rrod problem. if you mod your 360, you void the warranty, hence, if you get the rrod, your stuck with a dead xbox360.  there are some rrod specialist repairs here but they dont last long, probably runs for  few months or so and gets the rrod again. and after a while, the rrod unit dies permanently.

now that i think about it, that is at leaset one good thing that came about due to the xbox360's hardware issues.

hackers ftw, i know a hacker, he has mad skills, seriously, he could take down vgchartz with a 1990's mac (he won't though, he's very kind hearted)

I'm just sayin.......

PS - Hacking doesn't require a powerful computer.  Its not as if you brute force every password you come against.  Hacking has a lot more to do with finesse than anything else.  Which of course means a nice calculator like a TI-89 probably has enough power to get the job done.

To Each Man, Responsibility

yeah, but i wounder how we can download +20GB of a game(its too big)
or it will have a bluray backup

I don't think "piracy" has any kind of significant effect on hardware sales, but as far as this is concerned, even if an exploit were found that allowed the running of unsigned code from the XMB, it would mean nothing considering that:

-Most people don't have an internet connection capable of downloading or uploading 25-50GB files(atleast not in a timely manner).

-Blu-Ray recordable drives and recordable media are entirely too expensive for the mass market.
