Forums - Nintendo - Asynchronous Multiplayer Coming To Miiverse Soon

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has explained to investors that the company is busy working on system-wide asynchronous multiplayer for Miiverse. Basically this means that you will be able to send your play data to Miiverse for others to download and play against at a different time. There’s no information on when asynchronous multiplayer is going to be implemented, but it’s certainly an interesting development by Nintendo.

I don't quite understand what this is supposed to be. Still, right now their focus should be on creating a real NN account system for the 3DS and WiiU (If they ever want me to BUY digital games they should introduce this ASAP). The summer update should be the perfect time to introduce it.

Imagine a chess game. I move the Knight at 6:00 pm. Then you open up your Wii U at 9:00, and you've got a notification: the match you're playing against me has changed, the Knight was moved. You move Bishop at 9:24. But I have my Wii U turned off. So next time I boot it up, I'll see the match has progressed because you've moved the Bishop.

I wonder if this means you could play multiplayer games with others through MiiVerse, GBA games NEED multiplayer and this seems like a good way to do it

Ah, makes sense. Now they just need to introduce some games for it :D

interesting, but the real question is: when Miiverse will hit 3DS?
