Wii U (Project Cafe) dev kits were sent out over 2 years ago now, that was when it started leaking all over the internet.

Iwata really didn't realize the system may need a "big" title on the scale of Metroid Prime/Mario Galaxy/Halo/Uncharted then? Really, the guy is out of touch software wise IMO. Such a game would be ready by now, but no forsight on his part.

They bet the entire farm on Nintendo Land being a blockbuster hit that would carry the system for months. It's not even like they supported the Wii much for 2011 or 2012 either.

Nintendo Land & New Super Mario Bros U was enough for the launch IMO. Wii U was pretty successful at the beginning. The problem was they sucked at following it up. No new 1st party game until June? Unexceptable. Iwata should stay though, he is still good at his job and I think he can turn it around.

HA @ the bolded!

I agree that those 2 games were enough at launch. If Pikmin, Rayman, W101, Fit U, G&W were all out by now then Wii U would have had a much better first half of the year, not amazing but it probably be closer to 4.5-5 million by now and not getting so much negative press.
