CPU bound, on a PC, that is rare sight.
Hopefully this game can save Crytek.
The game does look like it could draw in a large audience, assuming they can run the game.

Strategy games can be very CPU demanding, that's why sometimes they're used in CPU reviews.

But of course, more is not always better, because you may end up having so many cores that your game won't run XD.

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

Well yeah, but this is a FPS.

2017 was a wonderful year for CPUs.
I don't think it would have been reasonable to have been working on 6 core+ optimsation beforehand.
It will be very interesting to see how many cores we get on the desktop in 2019.

God, I love Noctua. Why do other coolers even exist?

You didn't specify .

Also, Intel will launch 8-core processors in their mainstream line, s.1151, to compete with AMD. That's probably the biggest change we'll see this year.

Because we need something to compare them, so we can see how good and quiet Noctua coolers are.

Hindsight is 20/20.

Because some of us don't like air coolers. :P

I am thinking we might see a ballooning of core counts as we shift to 10/7nm. I wouldn't be surprised if we have 32 core processors by 2020.

Mainstream will hopefully shift over to 8-core processors across the board with 6 cores as budget offerings.

Their fans are amazing. Expensive. But amazing. I have 9x 120mm Noctua fans in my rig. At $40 AUD each. But they will outlast this rig.

Well I got my SSD and it's definitely made a difference. Not as much difference as I would have liked, but it's got loading times down from 3-4 minutes to around 1 minute, so still a very noticeable difference.

Was able to fit it in alongisde my existing HDD too, so I've now got 1TB HDD and 240GB SDD alongside each other

What model SSD did you settle on? Do you have your OS+Game on it?

I've got a SanDisk (ie. the cheapest one I could find ). And just games. Couldn't be bothered with all that cloning harddrive and transferring everything. I just wanted to plug it in and be able to use it asap.

You will see more benefits with it as your OS drive.
But being the cheapest Sandisk you could find... Probably isn't shining SSD's in the best possible light anyway. haha

Congrats.

Just remember to uninstall the games you don't play anymore because, with the size of games nowadays, those 240GB will look small.

Well I've not had much of an issue with loading times with games before. So I'll still use my HDD for most games and just use the SSD for those few that take forever on the HDD.

Just make sure you put your OS on it.
There is nothing quite like a newly installed OS.
