Ladykiller in a Bind is a Christine Love-penned visual novel about "kinky sex"

Comments1

Though we’ll inevitably call Christine Love’s new game ‘Ladykiller’, and in Twitter arguments ‘LK’, this is the news - and in the news we like to stretch our legs a bit, because the truth sometimes needs to be tripped up before it gets away. Its full title, then: My Twin Brother Made Me Crossdress As Him And Now I Have To Deal With A Geeky Stalker And A Domme Beauty Who Want Me In A Bind!!

It's an upcoming visual novel set to break previously undiscovered character count limits of digital storefronts near you.

RuneScape celebrates 13th anniversary by “going back to its roots”

RuneScape is celebrating its 13th anniversary today, and to help ring in the milestone, Jagex has released a video showing what’s in store for players in 2014. According to the developer, the game is “going back to its roots,” via a collaborative effort between developers and the community. “We want to give the power to the players to decide what we do and when it happens,” said the firm. “In mid-January, we’re going to launch a new in-game poll system, which will give members at least one new content poll to vote on each week.” More information can be found through the official website. Throne Together now available through the Windows Store for W8.1

Throne Together, which popped up recently through a trademark application, has been released on the Windows Store. Steam Family Sharing now limits sharing to 10 friends

Comments1

Turns out Steam users are quite the sharers. At least, that’s what I’m guessing from the new rule change to the Family Sharing Beta. Previously you could grant access to your game library to as many machines as you wanted. Now there is a ten shares limit. Sounds like Valve found people were sharing their games with many more accounts than they expected.

Plus, you have to authorise specific users, too.

Gabe Newell: “being really good at Half-Life level design is not as nearly as valued as thinking of how to design social multi-player experiences”

Comment

Where’s Half-Life 3? Eh, Valve? Well, it’s hardly new discussion and Newell’s not gone and said anything about it to the Washington Post. Instead, their recently published interview looks into the structure of the developer. It makes for a fascinating read, too.

What the interview does give us a little of is why Valve weren’t initially, at least, keen to crowbar a sequel out of the design team. It would have them too set in their ways.

Cubic Space: because in space no one can hear your dice roll

Comment

Generally, humans are really bad at predicting the future. For every correct prediction you can point to there are hundreds of incorrect ones out there. In short, the future is a surprise. A surprise wrapped in naff predictions.

So, a future in which spaceships are controlled by dice rolls may not sound like something we’d design but there’s no reason to say that Adam Atomic hasn’t get it right. In 150 years time it may be that your FTL drive will only spool up if you roll a six.

Right or wrong you should play Cubic Space because it’s a great little challenge.

My computer is a graveyard. Thousands of characters have died and been deleted during my gaming life. Each one of them banished to Random Access Memory. Even in a non-violent game, like Peggle, where does the ball go after it lands in the bucket? RAM.

Jason Oda’s latest game, Continue?9876543210 follows that fate further. You play a deleted computer game character as they try to eke out a little more existence before the computer wipes them from RAM, at which point they’ll be lost forever.

Detective Grimoire: Secret of the Swamp trailer has little girls, beards, and a mysterious frog-like monster

Comment

Not much crime happens in swamps. They don’t have a great deal in the way of assets or amenities that can be stolen, vandalised, trafficked, etc. Nefarious deeds-wise the only thing we at PCGN really use them for is hiding bodies. They’re great for hiding bodies.

Detective Grimoire: Secret of the Swamp breaks that mould. There’s a whole community and tourist attraction hidden away in the mud-slick marsh. And the whole thing could go out of business unless you find out who killed the... oh, so there is a body hidden in the swamp. Normal service can resume.

Unwritten might remain unwritten

Comment

Unwritten, an intriguing turn-based strategy title where players must guide a tribe across a dangerous wilderness - described by the team as Civilization meets Oregon Trail - has hit an unfortunate road bump after being successfully Kickstarted early last year, encapsulating the unfortunate side-effect of these crowd-funded, personal game projects developed by tiny teams.

The project is - as developer Joe Houston emphasises in a Kickstarter update - still ongoing, it's just on life support. The budget was wrong, the estimated development time was wrong, and Joe's been struggling to work on the game while also supporting his wife and daughter during a period of crisis. Unwritten is not technically cancelled, but it's in a lot of trouble

Mysteries on a plane: Consortium lands on January 8th

Comment

Consortium is a bit loopy: a mystery set on a gigantic plane in the future populated by special-forces types with chess piece names, you are yourself in the body of someone who should know what's going on. It's very confusing. There's a hint of Nomad Soul in the way the game acknowledges that you're a player and you don't know what you're doing.

Do you make your crewmates worry by asking silly questions, possibly getting sent to the shrink? Or maybe you'd rather pretend to be on top of things, bluffing your way through the enigmatic adventure. You'll get to decide what you want to do on Wednesday, because that's when Consortium comes out. Wednesday will be a good day, indeed.
