How can I make sure I really have the high res texture pack for Skyrim installed? When I play the game it looks like the old low res textures, they look almost as low res as on PS3.

Is there somewhere in the in game settings to enable texture mods maybe? Did you add them via Steam Workshop?

Yeah it's under Data Files where mods usually are listed, and I see that it is installed (is there supposed to be 2 of them?), but I don't see a graphical difference. Some textures are still PS3 quality and I hvane't yet seen any really high resolution ones.

Still Skyrim vanilla version looks extremely good on highest settings on PC IMO. And I can run it pretty much on max with my Radeon 4850.

I wander if there are really demaning graphics mods out there for Skyrim though, because the main reason why I'm planning to upgrade to a Radeon R9 290 is to play a very beautiful Skyrim (and Oblivion).

You haven't seen it? Drop everything you are doing and go watch it then

On another note Grim Dawn is shaping up quite well so far. Very promising, tho there is clearly work to be done (hell there is a mastery missing and a few acts to go) but what is there is really promising.

TRIHAYWBFRFYH adds Lovecraft to a walk in the countryside during the rapture

Comment

TRIHAYWBFRFYH, or to call it by its full name, The Rapture Is Here And You Will Be Forcibly Removed From Your Home, is visually striking. It’s clearly walking in the footsteps of Dear Esther and that’s no bad thing.

It’s free, too, which makes it difficult not to recommend.

Lost Orbit trailer shows one astronaut’s ditch effort to survive space without a ship

Comments1

Space is not a welcoming place. No air, heat, or tea and coffee making facilities all make for an unfriendly atmosphere. So when Harrison’s ship is destroyed, leaving him floating in the cold black vacuum, many would write him off.

He’s not one of them.

Pixelnauts' vertical platforming looks to be a frantic flight through space, using jetpacks and gravitational pulls to guide yourself.

Titan Souls is bold, challenging, and free

Comment

Successfully condensing Shadow of the Colossus and Dark Souls into a single, short indie adventure is no mean feat. It’s even more impressive when you realise it was done in three short day for the most recent Ludum Dare contest.

Titan Souls pits you against four titans, great creatures of stone and glass, and arms you with a single arrow to fight them.

It’s excellent.

I've already started to look for it, but so far I've only found it on a pirate streaming service but it's in Japanese with Spanish sub.

The Chinese video game industry generated $13 billion this year, with PC titles pulling in the most

Comment

With all the censorship, state control, and game bans, it's very easy to forget that the Chinese video game industry is, well, rather robust. $13 billion robust, in terms of revenue, this year alone, according to information revealed over the weekend at the China Game Industry Annual Conference. That's not very far off the US revenue figures for last year, which stood at $14.8 billion.

Over $8 billion, the majority, of this kingly sum comes from online client-based games with browser games not far behind, bringing in $2 billion in revenue. Including those browser games, PC titles account for more than 80 percent of the Chinese game industry's revenue over the last year.

Wii U Gamepad reverse engineered for PC streaming

Comment

I was probably a bit too hasty when I picked up a Wii U just after launch, last year. I always feel that way after buying a new console. With the early days usually having a library that evokes a ghost town, it's never long before I go back to spending all of my time with my stalwart PC.

Yet I never regretted my purchase, because I simply adore the Wii U Gamepad. It's full of potential, cruelly limited to use with only the Wii U, but now three hackers have reverse engineered the controller to allow them to stream PC games to its lovely little screen, presenting their findings in a lecture which took place yesterday.

Belated Christmas prezzies from AirMech

Comment

Christmas might be in the rear-view mirror, but apparently that doesn't mean that the annual gift-giving is quite over. Colourful free-to-play RTS, AirMech, is doling out the seasonal gifts to its pilots, and you only need to log in to receive your special package for the jolly fat man.

If all you got for Christmas this year was a pair of novelty socks, this might cheer you up.
