The previous month of Humble monthly was great value also after getting Total War: Warhammer I'm looking forward to playing One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 as I played the previous 2 on PS3 so hopefully the 3rd is a good PC port. Also RIVE looks great and I'm glad to of got the Space Run sequel as I enjoyed the first game and had no clue it had a second game so that is a pleasant surprise :)

Well The Witness is the early game for the next month of Humble which is something I have wanted to play but had not been prepared to fork out £30 so getting it for the £9 is rather good before I even see what the other games are this month :)

Thanks! I couldn't decide until now if I get the PC or PS4 version of "The Witness", but since Jonathan Blow doesn't seem to be interested in VR-support (even the Oculus-Rift-workaround seems to be patched out), I'm going now with the PC version for $12.

It looks great in stereoscopic 3D (after adding the Helix mod) and it even supports Nvidia Ansel to make high-res screenshots (up to 63,360 x 35,640 resolution), 360-degree-screenshots in 8192 x 4096 (compatible with PS4/PSVR) and stereoscopic 360-degree-screenshots in 8192 x 8192.

Same for me. Someone remind me when it's on sale.

Finished the test my 1700X and my friend with his Core i7-6800K and delided Core i7-7700K 5GHz OCed on gaming performance.

The results is..... Joker what did you do?

I doubt there's anything that can beat a 7700K @5Ghz in games.

Ok.. There's someone mentioned on Joker's benchmark/test https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWarC_Nygew&t=28s

Now seriously, this generation - I swear... if people going to sell their Skylake Core i5/i7 for a damn home workstation level like R7 1800X/1700X/1700(even Core i7 6950X/6900K when the price goes down) to use as mainly gaming machine not everything else... Oh no no no... you know me. xD

You aren't wrong. A 7700K @5ghz is a beast.
So if AMD can drive up the clock rates on their Quad and Hex core chips, they could be onto a winner.

The 7700K should be roughly the same/loose at the same clock rates to Broadwell-E though as Broadwell-E does have 15-25Mb of cache and quad channel memory which mitigates any architectural advantage, but hitting 5ghz on the Hex/Octo core chips is a stupidly tall order. - My 3930K can do it, but I did play the silicon lottery.

Ryzen 1800X also has a base clock advantage against most of Intels 2011-3 chips, with the exception of the 6850K, so in heavily threaded situations if it is going up against Intels Octo 6900K, it should have an advantage as Intel chips shouldn't be using Turbo, resulting in lower clocks.

But... If you look at performance when all the clocks are equalised, it shows Intel does have a general edge still, especially in gaming.

Nothing unexpected though, we knew from engineering samples that Ryzen was going to be less efficient than Intel. Where it gets interesting is with Zen+ architecture refresh next year, AMD has a strong CPU architecture that it can interate upon now.

He did it again LOL. But people still refuse to believe the results and look, The i7-7700K is smashing i7-6900K and R7 1700X, that's exact same results we got lmao!

Are there any software technologies on the horizon that would make it significantly easier to program complex software like games for more than 4 cores?

Since the Athlon 64 X2 first released, software has been slowly getting more parallel to take advantage of ever-increasing core counts.

At the moment though, most of the innovation is at the Driver and API level. Once the PC shifts entirely over to Vulkan and Direct X 12, we should see better core utilization all around.
But... We also need to remember that the consoles are the lowest common denominator, 8 Jaguar cores should be roughly equivalent to a Haswell Core i3 @ 3ghz in terms of overall performance.

The real advantage of more cores though is running lots of things at the same time... And system longevity.

If you're determined to avoid Mass Effect: Andromeda spoilers, then you'll definitely want to avoid this IGN video of the game's first 13 minutes. It introduces Scott Ryder and his dad, the Simulated Adaptive Matrix—Sam, for short—Cora, the captain, and a doctor with a very familiar voice. Naturally, the game's first crisis comes into play, too. After all, it wouldn't be much fun if it was smooth sailing all the way.

Sean Murray of Hello Games, developer and publisher of No Man's Sky, made an appearance at GDC on Thursday (after having been relatively quiet since No Man’s Sky’s contentious launch) to give a talk entitled "Building Worlds Using Math(s)." Between describing the complex procedural generation methods used to create No Man’s Sky's multitude of planets, Murray also spoke about the early days of development, when it was just him working on the engine in his spare time.

KING OF THE KILL DEV: 'I LOSE SLEEP' OVER THE THOUGHT OF A BUG DISRUPTING A TOURNAMENT [UPDATED]
http://www.pcgamer.com/king-of-the-kill-dev-i-lose-sleep-over-the-thought-of-a-bug-disrupting-a-tournament/
"I lose sleep over it." That's what executive producer Chris Wynn told me at GDC when I asked if he worried about a bug disrupting a King of the Kill pro tournament with money on the line. After all, while King of the Kill is a global top seller on Steam and one of the most highly watched games on Twitch—and has been holding its Invitational tournaments with cash prizes since 2015—it's also still in Early Access.
Update: Chris Wynn added, via email, the following clarification about the decision to remain in Early Access longer than originally planned

OVERWATCH'S BASTION BUFF HAS ALREADY BEEN DIALED BACK

Recent changes to Overwatch's battle bot Bastion were intended to increase its viability in mobile Recon mode, while making its Sentry mode "more of a tank buster." In a patch notes comment, Blizzard said, "Overall, Bastion should feel stronger and more flexible with these changes," and it certainly seems to have worked out that way.

2DARK TRAILER SNEAKS OUT AHEAD OF NEXT WEEK'S RELEASE
http://www.pcgamer.com/2dark-trailer-sneaks-out-ahead-of-next-weeks-release/
Stealth-horror-adventure-hyphen-generator 2Dark is out next week, because the god of new game releases can't give us even a week's break, I mean c'mon. It's a top-down adventure in which a grizzled detective named Mr. Smith has to rescue abducted children from a series of evil people, in a series of grisly dwellings, in the chirpily titled city of Gloomywood. You'll sneak, you'll have to escort kids about, you'll try to avoid nasty traps, and you'll inevitably have to fight with those horrible abductors—and pretty much all of those things are shown off in the latest trailer.

COLOURFUL WII ODDITY DE BLOB COMING TO PC NEXT MONTH
http://www.pcgamer.com/colourful-wii-oddity-de-blob-coming-to-pc-next-month/
Here's something I want to see more of: games from old consoles being spruced up and brought to PC, which is exactly what's happening with colourful Wii platformer de Blob. It's a game about, well, a blob, who under your expert stewardship will explore a distinctly monochrome city environment, restoring colour and creativity everywhere he goes.

OVERLOAD GETS UPDATED DEMO AHEAD OF IMMINENT EARLY ACCESS RELEASE
http://www.pcgamer.com/overload-gets-updated-demo-ahead-of-imminent-early-access-release/
At around this time last year, Revival Productions was running a Kickstarter for its spiritual Descent sequel, which is more interesting than the actual recent Descent sequel, as this one's being made by many of the people behind the original games. They released an early demo so we could see what they were aiming for, and now, one year later, Revival has released an updated demo version, so we can see how Overload has progressed over the last 12 months.

THE CURIOUS EXPEDITION UPDATE ADDS ARCTIC REGIONS AND MORE
http://www.pcgamer.com/the-curious-expedition-update-adds-arctic-regions-and-more/
It just wouldn't be a game about exploration without offering voyages to chilly Arctic regions—although, until two days ago, The Curious Expedition was exactly that. 48 hours previously, the roguelikey strategy-y game added Arctic regions as part of a big new update, one that also includes a pile of new stuff, and that makes changes to the UI and underlying game balance.

Shroud of the Avatar is Ultima mastermind Richard Garriott's sprawling medieval MMO that's lived in Early Access since November 2014. Although still in testing, it underwent its final wipe last year and has since spawned some lovely stories—such as this one about how fan musicians became the game's official composers. If you'd like to craft some tales of your own, it's running a free trial this week.
