So you play one as "work" while playing the other for fun.

Good for you, but I couldn't so it.

Eh I wouldnt say its "work" per say.

I'm still enjoying it and not in a rush.

Technically playing 3 RPGs (paper mario ttyd) which I still need to finish.

So ya - I'm gonna play non-RPGs after I finish Pokemon yellow and Paper mario ttyd (which I'm near the end).

By work, I meant not just for fun but because you're doing the recordings.

And 3 RPGs at the same time? Now that's something to worry about .

Sometimes I just wish I could actually run the game lol. Maybe when it's eventually finished I might be able to run it.

Have you tried the game lately? it runs so much better then it did a few months back.

Also you should try launching with the 4gb option (Even if you have higher it helps alot and still looks great!) .

If you plan on getting into it let me know and maybe we could start a tribe or something .

I'm not running it on absolute ultra but even with a 980 I;m getting random dips below 60fps and with the game turned low it just kills my immersion levels.

I also tried the 4gb option, it's just not doing it for me even with 8gb. I still think they need to get on with optimization crunch time rather than loading the game with content that will need to be ironed out in the end.

I'll let you know whenever I do manage to get the game running stable (you have me on Steam I believe lol and you'll probably see me on Steam trying to play it currently but only for perf reasons), though I'll likely be playing more Starbound once it hits 1.0 since that game is mostly iroend out and will be coming with a huge amount of content. I'll also have to get on with that thread I promised Cloudman =P.

Its strange alright. Im running a 280X and i hear the game is better optimised for Nvida cards but yet the game runs great for me with a solid 30FPS with a mix of settings.

Try setting your shadows to low or medium and your textures on high, also i think the game has a problem with the LOD so if you lower that also it could help.

The main gripe I have with the game is that a 980 cannot handle it and yet I can handle a plethora of AAA games fine and even early access titles. Ark isn't exactly going to be Star Citizen since it's made with DX 111 in mind along with being tailored to X1 and PS4 in the mix, the requirement for more and more power for very little output ir irksome at best, even with DOOM and those Nightmare settings seem like a joke for more power and little gain.

AMD Will Showcase Latest Technology During Computex 2016

http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/amd-will-showcase-latest-technology-during-computex-2016.html

AMD announced a press conference and live webcast during Computex 2016 in Taipei, Taiwan. The event will begin on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 10:00 AM CST / 10:00 PM EDT. The event will feature launch of 7th Generation AMD A-Series Processors, Polaris updates and more.

The event is slated to feature presentations from AMD executives including AMD President and CEO Lisa Su; Senior Vice President and General Manager, Computing and Graphics Business Group, Jim Anderson; and Senior Vice President and Chief Architect, Radeon Technologies Group, Raja Koduri.

A real-time video webcast of the event will be accessible on AMD's Computex page (www.amd.com/computex) and on AMD's Investor Relations home page (ir.amd.com). A replay of the webcast can be accessed a few hours after the conclusion of the live event on both pages and will be available there for one year after the event.

>>With the bosses of both AMD and RTG being there, we can take for granted that they'll finally unveil Polaris during that event.

AMD Gains Market Share in Q1'16 Discrete GPUs

http://www.pcper.com/news/Graphics-Cards/AMD-Gains-Market-Share-Q116-Discrete-GPUs

AMD sent out a note yesterday (**that yesterday was Tuesday**) with some interesting news about how the graphics card market fared in Q1 of 2016. First, let's get to the bad news: sales of new discrete graphics solutions, in both mobile and desktop, dropped by 10.2% quarter to quarter, a decrease that was slightly higher than expected. Though details weren't given in the announcement or data I have from Mercury Research, it seems likely that expectations of upcoming new GPUs from both NVIDIA and AMD contributed to the slowdown of sales on some level.

Despite the shrinking pie, AMD grabbed more of it in Q1 2016 than it had in Q4 of 2015, gaining on total market share by 3.2% for a total of 29.4%. That's a nice gain in a short few months but its still much lower than Radeon has been as recently as 2013. That 3.2% gain includes both notebook and desktop discrete GPUs, but let's break it down further.

Q1'16 Desktop Q1'16 Desktop Change Q1'16 Mobile Q1'16 Mobile Change
AMD 22.7% +1.8% 38.7% +7.3%
NVIDIA (assumed) ~77% -1.8% ~61% -7.3%

AMD Polaris 10 Sample Spotted at 1.27 GHz clock frequency

http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/amd-polaris-10-samples-work-at-1-27-ghz.html

One of the major benefits for Nvidia's Pascal architecture is that they can achieve really high clock frequencies. The 16nm Pascal based GeForce GTX 1080 boosts over 1800 MHz. AMD will bake Polaris at 14nm and as some information found in the SiSoft Sandra database, they reach 1.27 GHz with Polaris 10.

The SiSoftware Sandra 2015 OpenGL benchmark entry (look it up here) was entered 3 days ago and allegedly shows an entry of a Polaris 10 sample at 1266 MHz. The chip is identified by its Hardware ID, 67DF: C7 and 67DF: C4. These are both Polaris 10 ASICs, one Pro and one XT model.

The entry denotes once again 36 compute cores (Nvidia call theirs SMs), 36 x 64 shader processors per cluster would mean 2304 active shader processors. The entry also reveals 8 GB memory being clocked at 7.6 GHz running over a 256-bit, so that would be 243 GB/s It however is unclear if AMD opted for GDDR5 or GDDR5X.

>>If the memory runs at 7.6GHz, I would say that it's GDDR5, without the X, but that's not the focus of the article. At 1.27GHz, it would be a 200MHz increase over Hawaii/Grenada which, while nice, would still be much less than what Nvidia has achieved.

In any case, let's take it with a graint of salt because there are still reports saying that the big Polaris 10 chip will have 32 and not 36 CUs, so nobody knows for sure how the end products will be.

Sweet gear from Nvidia up for grabs in Fallout 4 mod contest

http://www.pcgamer.com/sweet-gear-from-nvidia-up-for-grabs-in-fallout-4-mod-contest/

We're fashionably late in covering this, but Nvidia is sponsoring a Fallout 4 mod contest in which it's putting up $40,000 worth of prizes to be spread out among 20 finalists.

The contest coincides with the release of Bethesda's Fallout 4 Creation Kit for PC. It's the same tool that Bethesda used to create Fallout 4, and it's available free to anyone who owns the PC version of Fallout 4 and a Bethesda.net account. If you decide to give it a go, you can check out the Creation Kit Wiki for details and tips.

Go here for more details and to submit your entry form. The deadline to enter is July 3, 2016.

>>The price is a Bethesda gift bag and an undisclosed Geforce GTX card.

HITMAN'S ELUSIVE TARGET STATS PROVE THAT THE BEST KILLERS ARE ON PC

http://www.pcgamer.com/hitmans-elusive-target-stats-prove-that-the-best-killers-are-on-pc/

he first Hitman Elusive Target has come and gone, and just over half of the digital assassins who took on the job—53 percent, to be precise—managed to avoid screwing it up. There is a ray of sunshine cutting through all the clumsy, Clouseau-like darkness, however: The best Hitmen in the world are all on the PC.

THE HALO 5 FORGE EDITOR (BUT NOT HALO 5) IS COMING TO PC [UPDATED]

http://www.pcgamer.com/the-halo-5-forge-editor-but-not-halo-5-is-coming-to-pc/

Microsoft has announced that Halo 5's map making tool Forge is coming to Windows 10 as Forge—Halo 5: Guardians Edition. It will feature a number of enhancements for the PC including keyboard and mouse support and resolutions up to 4K, and it will be completely free—but it will apparently not include Halo 5 itself.

Update: Microsoft has clarified that Forge—Halo 5: Guardians Edition will not support matchmaking or any other Halo 5 multiplayer features, and so custom maps and games created with it will only be playable online with people in your Friends list. The software will also import maps created with the Xbox One version of Forge, which can then be edited and played in the same way.

HERE ARE YOUR OVERWATCH UNLOCK TIMES

http://www.pcgamer.com/here-are-your-overwatch-unlock-times/

When I was younger, “launch dates” were exactly that: the day upon which you'd go to the store and, assuming the shipment had arrived on time, pick up your box. The glorious digital future has granted us a much greater degree of precision for such things, however. These days, we have not just dates, but specific times—to the very minute!—when games will become playable.

BATTLEBORN GETS ITS FIRST POST-LAUNCH HERO LATER THIS MONTH

http://www.pcgamer.com/battleborn-gets-its-first-post-launch-hero-later-this-month/

Gearbox will roll out a handful of new playable characters for its MOBA / PvE hybrid Battleborn over the coming months. The first is Alani – a member of the Eldrid faction (y'know, the faction that counts mushroom-headed healer Miko among its ranks). According to the write-up, she "was raised as a healer, but forced to be a warrior", suggesting her strengths will be spread across those two playstyles.

OMNIBUS TO RELEASE NEXT WEEK, SPECIAL EDITION INCLUDES REAL BUS

OmniBus, aka the game about the bus that couldn't slow down, is releasing on May 26. EA has released an interactive, 3D map of the City of Glass to help you plan your selfie spots in time for Mirror's Edge Catalyst. Beta has been and gone and Samuel has raved about his hands-on (apart from the story, of course), but neither conveyed the full scale of the climbing frame Dice has constructed.

DAMBUSTER TO PATCH HOMEFRONT: THE REVOLUTION'S POOR PERFORMANCE

Deep Silver Dambuster has pledged to patch the performance problems in Homefront: The Revolution. That's good in the scheme of things, but not what you want to hear on the day of release (in Europe, at any rate).

>>They better do!

Shell is a magic spell in the FF series that enables the user to cast a shield on a single target reducing magic damage by enemies/increases the target's magic defense.

In the case of Final Fantasy VIII - you can equip magic spells to increase your stats. The limit is 99 of each spell for each character - the more stronger/rarer the spell and the more number of the spell you got, the higher your stats will be when equipping them (of course when you use the equipped spells in battle, the number goes down and the stats go down - which is why I hate this game system >.>).

So those shells are a defensive item, and the more you have, the less damage you recieve. Got it, thanks.

Ok, some more rumors/info about two upcoming Nvidia GPUs, the 1060 and the 1080M

GeForce GTX 1060 Possibly Spotted In Shipment Tracking

http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/geforce-gtx-1060-possibly-spotted-in-shipment-tracking.html

Online shipment tracking shows an entry that could be the GeForce GTX 1060. And yeah, after 1080 and 1070 are released we will be waiting for the GeForce GTX 1060, often the video card that offers the best value for most consumers. The  graphics card has surfaced in the import and export database of Zauba.

The GeForce GTX 1060 will likely be based on the ASIC called GP106. IF the listing in Zauba is to be believed then Nvidia will use a 256-bit GDDR5 memory controller for this mainstream product. This this is similar to the GTX 1070 and 1080. Though this remains speculation, it is expected to have 1280 Cuda/shader Cores.

>>That 256-bit bus memory suggests that it will be either a 4 or 8GB card.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080M faster than GTX TITAN X?

http://videocardz.com/60211/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080m-faster-than-gtx-titan-x

ASUS is teasing its new overclockable gaming laptops powered by new GPU, that is supposedly faster than desktop GTX TITAN X.

What we can say is that one of the highlights from the lab is an overclockable gaming laptop that will rival even gaming desktops. We were told it is a concept machine and thus they are still in the process of making it even more powerful. The exclusive info about to be revealed is without overclocking but is already faster than any laptop on the planet (not including alternate futures or dimensions). Without overclocking this beast can score almost 21K (Performance) in 3DMark11, edging out even the mighty GTX Titan X in this benchmark!

>>That will be a hell of a laptop. Both in performance but also in price.

No xD

The more you have - the more you can increase your stats if you equip it (of course if you use it , your stats will go down).

If you cast it as a spell - it increases magic defense.

I have yet to cast any magic that I own - I only use them for equipping/junctioning to increase stats.

Been physically attacking and only been using summons to damage enemies.

Ok, I think I got it now: It is an item that, if you don't use it for anything, it increases your stats, but if you use it, it increases your magic defense.

And what stats it increases? Attack and physical defense?

Not really a item xD.

It doesnt appear in the item list - on the magic list only though.

But ya you got the first part right.

You can equip any magic spell on any stat as long as you have a summon equipped that has a ability that lets you equip magic spells on certain stats.

For an example my Ifrit summon has the STR-J which means Strength junction - I can equip a magic spell on Strength to increase its number/stat.

I have Ifrit equipped and I have 100 "Triple" spells equipped on my strength stat making my strength go from 30 to 62.

So it's kind of an item XD

Oh, and thanks for the explanation.
