Part 2 of the news:
ROCKET LEAGUE'S FREE BASKETBALL MODE HAS ARRIVED
http://www.pcgamer.com/rocket-leagues-free-basketball-mode-is-has-arrived/
As of yesterday's Rocket League patch, you can now play basketball with rocket propelled cars. The patch also adds the ability to save replays mid-match, as well as a “Cosmic” Rocket Labs map and some bug fixes—but let’s talk about basketball.
HOW EVE ONLINE PLAYERS ARE HELPING MEDICAL SCIENCE
http://www.pcgamer.com/how-internet-spaceships-are-helping-medical-science/
The Human Protein Atlas is a scientific research program whose goal is to map the human proteome. With this information medical science can better explain the biological and molecular function of the body, improving the diagnosis and treatment of diseases as a result. It’s an important venture, but there’s just one problem: computers are terrible at identifying proteins.
CASTLE CRASHERS CREATORS' NEXT GAME IS FILLED WITH SWORDS, UZIS, AND LIVING CUPCAKES
http://www.pcgamer.com/castle-crashers-creators-next-game-is-filled-with-swords-uzis-and-living-cupcakes/
Pit People is strange and I want to play more of it. It's odd enough that The Behemoth—a developer primarily known for its sidescrolling beat-em-ups like Castle Crashers and Battleblock Theater—is making a turn-based strategy game, so it seems only fitting that the game's theme be somewhat unexpected as well: The corpse of a giant space bear crashes into the planet, causing chaos and disrupting time and space, meaning pretty much anything goes.

PARAGON'S FREE BETA WEEKENDS BEGIN LATER THIS WEEK
http://www.pcgamer.com/paragons-free-beta-weekends-begin-later-this-week/
The first beta test of Epic's upcoming MOBA Paragon will begin on April 28—that's Thursday—and run until May 1. It's a closed beta but the first 500,000 registrants will all be invited, so if you've signed up to get in, the odds are probably pretty good that you will. And if you don't, that's OK, because the following weekend, May 5-8, will be open to everyone.
IT SOUNDS LIKE CYBERPUNK 2077 IS STILL A LONG WAY OFF
http://www.pcgamer.com/it-sounds-like-cyberpunk-2077-is-still-a-long-way-off/
Believe it or not, it's been more than three years since CD Projekt dropped the absolutely stunning teaser for its next RPG, Cyberpunk 2077. Not much has happened since then—well, aside from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, I suppose—and unfortunately for those of you who, like me, are really looking forward to finally playing it, it sounds like not much is going to happen for a long while yet.

DARKEST DUNGEON IS GETTING TOWN EVENTS THIS MONTH, PLUS A LINUX PORT
http://www.pcgamer.com/darkest-dungeon-is-getting-town-events-this-month-plus-a-linux-port/
After a lengthy and productive Early Access period, Darkest Dungeon officially released in January to very strong reviews. That doesn't mean Red Hook Studios has moved on, though: the game continues to get regular updates, with the next poised to introduce new 'Town Events' to the game, which will bring some life and variety to the game's Hamlet.
SEVEN: THE DAYS LONG GONE IS A GORGEOUS FEAT OF WORLD DESIGN
http://www.pcgamer.com/seven-the-days-long-gone-is-a-gorgeous-feat-of-world-design/
From a technical perspective, Shadow Warrior 2 is the prettiest game I saw at PAX East, but if we're talking design and scope, Seven: The Days Long Gone is even more astounding. Its tiny, isometric-style world creates the sense that I'm hovering over a model world splayed out across the floor of an aircraft hanger, filled with little lights, rivers, fog machines, and animatronics.

PLANTS VS. ZOMBIES: GARDEN WARFARE 2 IS FREE FOR 10 HOURS
http://www.pcgamer.com/plants-vs-zombies-garden-warfare-2-is-free-for-10-hours/
The opportunity to side with either plants or zombies in a fight to the death seems like one few would pass up. Usually you'd need to pay in order to partake in such a battle, but not at the moment: EA is offering a generous 10 hour demo of Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, which is longer than some people spend with the game after they've paid for it.
TAIWAN RATINGS BOARD POINTS TO TRIALS AND BLOOD DRAGON MASH-UP
http://www.pcgamer.com/taiwan-ratings-board-points-to-trials-and-blood-dragon-mash-up/
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon was a thoroughly enjoyable retro-futuristic spin-off which, if you ask me, vastly improved on the original shooter in every possible way. For a while it looked like Ubisoft might return to the schlocky 1980s theme, but as time has passed (and as other Far Cry spin-offs like Primal have emerged) it's looked increasingly unlikely.
WHISPERS OF THE OLD GODS MENACES HEARTHSTONE TODAY
http://www.pcgamer.com/whispers-of-the-old-gods-menaces-hearthstone-today/
Whispers of the Old Gods also heralds the arrival of Standard Mode and renames the former standard, ‘Wild Mode’. Standard mode restricts certain cards in ranked play, a necessity for most CCGs whose card selections get out of hand. PC Gamer’s resident Hearthstone obsessive, Tim, catalogued the most important cards to be removed from Standard play. I’d start revising while everyone’s unsteady on their feet.
