THAT DRAGON, CANCER LAUNCHES IN JANUARY
http://www.pcgamer.com/that-dragon-cancer-launches-in-january/
That Dragon, Cancer is a tribute to and remembrance of Joel Green, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer at 12 months of age and, despite being given just a few months to live, died in March 2014 at age five. His parents, Ryan and Amy, came up with the idea when Joel was four and successfully Kickstarted it at the end of 2014, and today announced that it will be released on January 12, 2016, which would have been Joel's seventh birthday.

IS THIS BATTLEFIELD 4 EASTER EGG THE MOST COMPLEX EVER?
http://www.pcgamer.com/is-this-battlefield-4-easter-egg-the-most-complex-ever/
An Easter egg, in videogame terms, is a fun little something stashed away inside a game that can only be found through persistence, luck, or most often, a combination of both. Remember John Romero's head, or Gordon Freeman in the Australian outback? Both Easter eggs. Some are harder to find than others, but I'm not aware of any that are even remotely as complex as this Battlefield 4 secret documented by YouTuber Jackfrags.

NETHACK GETS ITS FIRST UPDATE IN 12 YEARS
http://www.pcgamer.com/nethack-gets-its-first-update-in-12-years/
Nethack is a very old school roguelike, with a lineage that traces directly back to the 1980 classic Rogue. It was originally released in 1987, and went through various updates over the years, culminating in version 3.4.3, which came out in 2003 and is, for the record, fully Y2K-compliant. And that was it—until earlier this month, when Nethack 3.6 was released into the world.
FINAL FANTASY 14 DIRECTOR ADDRESSES DIFFICULTY COMPLAINTS
http://www.pcgamer.com/final-fantasy-14-director-addresses-difficulty-complaints/
Following feedback on the difficulty of content patched in since the release of Heavensward, Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida has announced that patch 3.2 will be a major rebalance. The message to the community is more of a tome, but adjustments will focus primarily on the Alexander: Gordias (Savage) raid, Exploratory Missions, and the Anima weapons that were added in patch 3.15.
DOUBLE FINE'S CRACKING DEVS PLAY SERIES RETURNS FOR A SECOND SEASON
http://www.pcgamer.com/double-fines-cracking-devs-play-series-returns-for-a-second-season/
I haven't played a Double Fine game in years, but their documentaries and Let's Plays are magnificent things, revealing design insights about not just their own titles, but about games including Symphony of the Night, Earthbound and Doom. Their particularly excellent Devs Play series has returned for a second season, and now that a PC game has been featured, it seems a good time to bring it to your attention.
CHRISTMAS TRUCE FALLS ON WW1 SHOOTER VERDUN
http://www.pcgamer.com/christmas-truce-falls-on-ww1-shooter-verdun/
Huddled in the trenches of northern France, soldiers on both sides of World War 1 began to adopt a 'live and let live' attitude towards their enemies, agreeing informal truces to recover the dead and wounded or simply enjoy a little peace. As the story goes, on Christmas Day, 1914, occasional indifference to enemy activity culminated in a carol sing-off and an international football match amid the devastation. The scale and details of the event are contested by historians, but it's a heartwarming tale to come out of an otherwise black period, and the fantasy has made for one of the best holiday events I've seen: the Christmas Truce is in place in WW1 shooter Verdun.

Season 5 of Diablo 3 is starting early next year, and Blizzard has detailed exactly what's involved in a new blog post. If you hated Seasonal Legendary items, you'll be pleased to hear that they've been done away with—while new Legendaries will be made available as part of the accompanying patch 2.4, they'll be gettable by all players, regardless of whether they've taken part in the season or not.
