Why do you want a Titan X when a 980Ti is just a tiny bit slower but costs a lot less? And there's no AMD counterpart for the Titan X, the Fury cards "compete" with the 980Ti and, given that they only have 4GB of VRAM, a 980Ti is the better option.

But that's if you want to upgrade now. If you plan to upgrade next Christmas, everything will have changed.

I'm asking cause I dont know ;p

But ya I'm waiting until next year to upgrade. Just wanted to see what type of options I have ;o (i.e. potential successors to the current GFX cards).

Well, from the current gen of cards, the only ones that still haven't been launched are the rumored GTX 960Ti that I posted a few days ago, and AMD's dual GPU card that has no name but it will use 2xFury GPUs.

Then, either in Q1 or Q2, both Nvidia and AMD will launch its newer cards based on Pascal and third gen GCN architectures.

So yeah, things will change quite a bit in 2016.

@Chazore: Hey, we have the same CPU! Lucky me I don't edit videos, so I don't need a new one.

Lol neither do I but I would like to put some together in the future, I'll take a look next year to see what kind of i7 I'd like to grab.

I don't really see PCGamer cdovering much on Dragons Dogma PC but Dtoid has been playing it and apparently it's "buttery smooth".

Also Candyland has a comparison vid up to show the differences, a lot has improved save for the textures which don't look like they've changed a lot like other effects have.

My only complaints I have is that the textures weren't done up as much as I hoped, they went with "uncompressed" which don't really have a night/day difference that really pops out to me like the other changes do (shadows, AA, godrays etc), also they didn't throw in a proper full screen border windowless mode and I really don't want to go back to full screen vsync input lag and frame stuttering, even though my rig *can* and should handle this I've played plenty of games with full screen and a game or CP vsync and suffered input lag/frame skips (basically sub 60fps). With FSBWM I don't get either at all.

I can imagine Capcom throwing it on current gen systems within a month or few, I feel they used PC as a bench to craft upon and throw where they originally wanted it to go. (not really a complaint but a slight issue I have with how we waited 3 years and we know what's coming after).

Going back to our little project about designing PCs.

First of all, thanks to Chazore and Bofferbrauer for their imputs. Because of them these are the rules of our projects:

  1. We'll do 3 PCs.
  2. Besides the basic components, every build must have an OS, keyboard & Mouse. A controller will be a welcome adition, but it's not essential. We'll leave monitors out of the question.
  3. We'll have two days to design our own PCs, after that, we'll post them here and discuss the Pros and Cons until we agree on a winner design.
  4. Due to the OS, Kboard&Mouse, I've raised the budget a little bit to make room for those extras. The final budgets are:
  • Low_ $700 / 700 € / £500
  • Mid_ $1,000 / 1,000 € / £700
  • High_ $1,300 / 1,300 € / £900

If you want to change something you have until the end of Sunday to let me know it. If no one complains, we'll call it a day and start to design the Low budget PC on Monday until Wednesday, when we'll have to post our builds.

For the monitors we could leave them out for now and for example choose out of 10 and narrow them down to 3, we could do that in Jan for some separate content if that helps.

Good thing we are doing the builds on Mon-Wed since I'm off those 3 days.

I'll probably be a little strict for my own build and use PC parts picker since that can do all currencies and lists multiple vendors for parts that are available (no out of season or stocks)

Anyone here watching the game awards show?

It's not really my jam, it's more mundane for me to watch after the last few years, especially the show that Angry Joe went to a few years back and how he got blown off with celebs being thrown in, it feels like a show made up just to advertise non gaming people or chances to add celebs in for openings to boost themselves, that and there are some games that I'd love to be in the show but aren't and I don't have high hopes that Undertale will win anything at all due to the heavy AAA perception bias that the show exhibits.

Yeah its understandable.

I dont really care for the off topic events or the awards - just wanna know if we get any gaming announcements :o

I decided to tune in for a few mins (still currently checking it before heading to bed) and it's as I said, AAA titles that are the biggest ones the people are focusing on like Bloodborne,MGSV, F4 and then one indie game Rocketleague with one guy who talks about Mario maker and I;m here thinking why isn't anyone talking about the indies that released this year or the really good ports that PC got that also happened to gain some popularity boost from times passed, the show just really feels like a AAA only show with the one or two indies now tagged on to make them sound like they care, it's a practical echo chamber of "this game makes me feel amazing/really blows my mind" type comments.

I know I;m being cynical but there were plenty more games this year that weren't AAA and games that were on PC that the show just isn't mentioning, hell Starcraft II is nowhere within the show itself which fills me with dread and yet Bloodborne gets a spot, Fallout 4 even gets in despite SC II and F4 launching the same day. I'd rather specifically watch a PC awards show like how next year I'll focus more on a hopeful sequel to the PCGamer show at next years E3.

Edit: there is some mention of old games like C&C a franchise that is basically dead lol (Westwood studios mention for the Lion King, you'd think EA would take this as a hint to bring the franchise back from the dead)
