Take-Two shuts down the AI-powered story mod for GTA 5
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/take-two-shuts-down-the-ai-powered-story-mod-for-gta-5/
Remember Inworld Sentient Streets? You know, the story mod for GTA 5 that featured AI-powered NPCs. Well, to the surprise of no one, Take-Two has just shut it down.
Bloc, the modder behind Inworld Sentient Streets, explained.
“About the mod itself, at this moment, the NexusMods version has been removed, by DMCA Takedown by Take-Two Interactive just today. Most likely this is what will happen to gta5mods too but I removed that one myself to avoid any legal trouble.”
Take-Two has also hit Bloc’s YouTube and Netlify accounts with copyright strikes. And, given what happened with NexusMods, this doesn’t appear to be an automated error. These are manual strikes from Take-Two.

Skyrim Special Edition DLC-sized Mod, Apotheosis, gets new trailer
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/skyrim-special-edition-dlc-sized-mod-apotheosis-gets-new-trailer/
The team behind the upcoming DLC-sized fan expansion mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Apotheosis, has released a new trailer for it.
The Apotheosis Mod started as a fan expansion for the original version of Skyrim. However, its team has now decided to upgrade its engine and continue development on Skyrim Special Edition.
Apotheosis is a dark fantasy, story-rich, open-world expansion for Skyrim that is set across the 17 Planes of Oblivion, and ‘Dreamsleeve’, in an echo of a fallen world.
According to the team, storytelling, quests and narrative design, as integral pillars of Apotheosis, focus on reactivity and player freedom. Furthermore, the team is also developing some new gameplay systems that will be tied to its narrative.
The Elder Scrolls: Apotheosis Mod currently targets a 2025 release date.

Fan is working on a re-imagined demake of Tomb Raider: Legend
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/fan-is-working-on-a-re-imagined-demake-of-tomb-raider-legend/
Now here is something really cool for all our Tomb Raider fans. YouTube’s Delca is currently working on a re-imagined demake of Tomb Raider: Legend, and below you can find a gameplay video from it.
Tomb Raider Legend Demake is a fan game/demake of Tomb Raider: Legend. In order to create this demake, Delca is using an enhanced version of the TR4 engine (called TRNG).
Now what’s cool here is that this unofficial/fan demake features gameplay and environments that are closer to the original 32-bit Tomb Raider games. As Dulca claims, the gameplay and environments are “reimagined as they would be if they were made by Core Design in the late 90s/early 2000s.”
For those unaware, Tomb Raider: Legend is an action-adventure video game developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Eidos Interactive. It is the seventh main entry in the Tomb Raider series and a reboot of the series. Tomb Raider Legend came out in 2005 on numerous platforms, including the PC.
Dulca plans to release this first chapter of the Tomb Raider Legend Demake on August 26th. And yes, we’ll be sure to share the demo once it becomes available.

Remedy announces a small delay for Alan Wake 2
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/remedy-announces-a-small-delay-for-alan-wake-2/
Remedy has just announced a small delay for its highly anticipated third-person action thriller, Alan Wake 2. According to the team, this small delay should give gamers enough time to enjoy other games that will also come out in October.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 gets a single-player campaign trailer

Activision has released a new trailer for the single-player campaign of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Activision has named this a gameplay trailer but let’s be realistic here, this is an in-engine trailer (full of cut-scenes) and not an actual gameplay trailer.

Friday news, part two:

Hitman's latest update frees a whole bonus campaign from PS4 purgatory after 7 years and intentionally restores an old exploit
https://www.pcgamer.com/hitmans-latest-patch-frees-a-whole-bonus-campaign-from-ps4-purgatory-after-7-years-and-intentionally-restores-an-old-exploit/
Thank you, PS4 players, but we'll take it from here. Hitman: World of Assassination (née Hitman 3) has gotten its August patch, and it's bringing back some, well, pretty unfamiliar faces, actually. Alongside the usual bevy of updates, tweaks, removals and enhancements, it's also accompanied by a couple of new pieces of DLC.

Believe it or not, Ubisoft is doing another Skull and Bones closed beta later this month
https://www.pcgamer.com/believe-it-or-not-ubisoft-is-doing-another-skull-and-bones-closed-beta-later-this-month/
You have to give credit to Ubisoft for persistence: Another developer might've scuttled Skull and Bones ages ago, but Yves Guillemot and co. keep blowing into its sails, trying to propel it forward, and so it is that another Skull and Bones closed beta is coming next week.

'I don't think players expect this': Warhammer 40K: Darktide is adding RPG-style skill trees full of new abilities to its 4 classes
https://www.pcgamer.com/i-dont-think-players-expect-this-warhammer-40k-darktide-is-adding-rpg-style-skill-trees-full-of-new-abilities-to-its-4-classes/
Nine months since launch, Warhammer 40K: Darktide sits on Steam with a "Mixed" review score, both in recent and all-time reviews. There were more than a few criticisms of Darktide at launch—the unfinished crafting system, the cosmetics store, crashes and performance issues—but one of the most common and consistent I've seen is that Darktide has only four character classes, compared to its predecessor Vermintide 2's five characters (with multiple subclasses apiece). Though Darktide does offer some nicely varied skills as you level up and weapons that dramatically change your play style, it was hard not to look at the class system as a downgrade from what Vermintide 2 players were used to.
In October, developer Fatshark is addressing that criticism in a big way by rolling out a complete revamp of Darktide's class system with full RPG-style skill trees for each class, leapfrogging the Vermintide-caliber specializations players have been asking for.

If you've been waiting for a chance to try your hand at Hyenas, Creative Assembly's upcoming team-based zero-G extraction shooter, here it is: A closed beta is coming at the end of August, and you can sign up to take part now on Steam.

This free Vampire Survivors clone has one thing nobody knew it needed: Vtubers
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-free-vampire-survivors-clone-has-one-thing-nobody-knew-it-needed-vtubers/
Out of all the action roguelikes that ape Vampire Survivors' style, HoloCure is the only one to infuse it with vtubers, the streamers who use 2D anime avatars you've probably seen all over Twitch and YouTube. But even if you aren't familiar with the vtuber agency that employs these ones, Hololive, HoloCure is surprisingly slick to play–and it's completely free.

'We owe them a huge debt': Baldur's Gate 3 lead writer hopes they did '90s BioWare proud
https://www.pcgamer.com/we-owe-them-a-huge-debt-baldurs-gate-3-lead-writer-hopes-they-did-90s-bioware-proud/
There's no doubt in my mind that Baldur's Gate 3 will have its own legacy, especially as we've just awarded it an extremely rare 97% in our review. But it's also part of an existing lineage as the third game in a BioWare series dear to many longtime PC gamers. Baldur's Gate 3's lead writer Adam Smith tells us today during the PC Gamer Chat Log podcast that Larian never lost sight of the long shadow it was stepping into.
>> It's quite ironic, and sad, because I don't think today's Bioware would be able to make a game like this.

Baldur's Gate 3 minmaxer finds terrifying 240 damage-per-turn Monk build, carrying on D&D's long tradition of rules-based ultraviolence
https://www.pcgamer.com/baldurs-gate-3-minmaxer-finds-terrifying-240-damage-per-turn-monk-build-carrying-on-dandds-long-tradition-of-rules-based-ultraviolence/
It was only a matter of time, right? While technical tricks like stacking a thousand explosive barrels or leveraging fall damage for Owlbear elbow drops are impressive in their own way, I've yet to see anything truly representing Dungeons & Dragons' frightening powergaming underbelly from Baldur's Gate 3's community. That is, until now.
In a thread titled "I Think I Broke Unarmed Strike on Monk. 168-320 DMG per turn", Reddit user OrkoTheMage has shown their working and—yeah. It all checks out. This is due to how Bonus Actions work in Baldur's Gate 3, and how they interact with the Monk feature Flurry of Blows.
>> Oh, and the Dark Urge origin may be the most heroic playthrough.

Starfield's preload files suggest there is no sign of DLSS or XeSS support amid AMD sponsorship
https://www.pcgamer.com/starfield-no-dlss-support-at-launch/
And lo it has come to pass, Starfield looks like it will definitely not be supporting either Nvidia's DLSS or XeSS upscalers. At least not at launch anyways. We kinda thought that would be the case the instant it was announced the Bethesda space cowboy-em-up was partnering with AMD on the PC side, but a dig into the preload files for the game has seemingly confirmed it.
>> As expected, sadly.

Total War: Warhammer 3 DLC is getting more expensive and the community is rebelling: 'Remember they need us more than we need them'
https://www.pcgamer.com/total-war-warhammer-3-dlc-is-getting-more-expensive-and-the-community-is-rebelling-remember-they-need-us-more-than-we-need-them/
Total War: Warhammer 3's latest slice of DLC, Shadows of Change, is coming soon, on August 31, but among the game's community this has not been cause for celebration; rather, it's being treated as a threat thanks to a price increase and an explanation from Creative Assembly's Chief Product Officer, Rob Bartholomew. It looks like this means waaagh!

Baldur's Gate 3 Collector's Editions are so in demand resale prices are now exceeding $2,000
https://www.pcgamer.com/baldurs-gate-3-collectors-editions-are-so-in-demand-resale-prices-are-now-exceeding-dollar2000/
Collector's Editions of Baldur's Gate 3 are now being resold for significantly more money than their original retail cost. As spotted by GamesRadar, listings on eBay for the Baldur's Gate 3 Collector's Editions on PC have now climbed to, in some cases, over seven times its official retail price, which is $269.99.

Before we part ways, let's take a look to the weekend deals at GOG and Steam:

And just like that, we've reached the end of the news. Until next time, I wish you a happy and gaming weekend.

It's like the 4 paddles on the Xbox Elite controller as good as the controller is it doesn't suit me since I have a fairly tight grip so I either fat finger them all the time or loosen my grip to prevent it then because my grip is loose my controlling feels clumsy so it makes me worse.

I guess Linus could have avoided this mess had he just listened to his regular viewers! Linus and even the LMG community (and lets face it the PC community at large) tend to be on the arrogant side of things, which is what pushed me away from the WAN show, LTT Forums and other content. That being said I generally feel like he doesn't have malice in any of his takes or actions ( even when I go through what happened with this Billet situation). I hope he and the rest of the group recover from this and come back strong.

Linus doesn't do malice, but man is he so god damn bone-headed when it comes to just taking the L and fessing up on the spot. The fact he had to be called out twice by GN and the community speaks volumes of his general viewpoint on refusing to accept he fucked up.

I think he should in future, just fess up the moment his community calls him out, instead of doing this usual rigmarole of burying himself deeper and deeper for a few days until he caves and has to make the good guy redemption arc video (which is starting to become a common trait amongst youtubers these days like it is for corps to pull, and it shouldn't).

LMG needs to put a rule in place requiring Linus to take 24 hours before responding. He gets hyper defensive and goes on rants that just make things worse.

Also, I don't get the "GN drama" point of view. This Linus situation is something that his own community, other YouTube tech channels, and even general viewers had already noted and complained about. Yet the errors kept happening. I see why other TechTubers were hesitant to address the issue. The amount of vitriol GN has gotten for factual unmonetized video shows they were right to keep to themselves. The LMG response video should been their first reply and they shouldn't have monetized it. Which they were called out, and subsequently changed.

Modders doing what Betheda can't. Sounds like a standard Betheda launch.

7900GRE still overpriced AF, but that was fast lol. If it drops to $550 that would be a way more interesting GPU since it more or less competes with the 4070. Also wonder if the AiB models clock better since we haven't seen any benchmarks with them. Iirc the standard reference model has quite low clocks (sub 2k) and has really high thermals.

Kinda funny how the complete opposite happened with AMD and Cyberpunk, where DLSS got supported officially and added in well before FSR, so I had to mod FSR in, and then eventually AMD managed to get official support for it.

AAA games really need to support both on day 1, not one getting support day 1, and the other getting support like half a year to 1year later, especially for a single player game.
