And here are even more news:

Fortnite's adding a museum about the Holocaust
https://www.pcgamer.com/fortnites-adding-a-museum-about-the-holocaust/
Fortnite is most definitely a videogame, but the incomparable success of Epic's battle royale has led to it becoming something of (sorry) a platform too. (...) Fortnite has a huge audience, mostly young, and Epic clearly feels they could stand some fibre in their diet alongside the Ariana Grande concerts and Marvel jamborees.
The most prominent example of this is the Martin Luther King Jr. interactive experience, March Through Time, where players can learn about the civil rights leader and the wider historical context of the racism he fought against: they can even watch a recording of his most famous speech. Now developer Luc Bernard, director of The Light in the Darkness (a game about a Jewish family in France trying to escape the Holocaust), has used Epic's tools to build a Holocaust Museum in Fortnite, called Voices of the Forgotten.

Devilish Baldur's Gate 3 bug prevents players save scumming like god intended
https://www.pcgamer.com/devilish-baldurs-gate-3-bug-prevents-players-save-scumming-like-god-intended/
Some Baldur's Gate 3 players are reporting issues with the game's save system. Namely, that they can't save or load at all, which is a bit of an issue in 2023's Game Most Likely to Spark Discourse About Save Scumming. The good news is that, if you're running into this, Larian is directing you to a help page on its website that should hopefully solve the issue. The bad news is that you aren't getting any of the progress you lost to a busted save back.

Larian slipped an Eldritch legal clause into Baldur's Gate 3's ToS
https://www.pcgamer.com/beware-human-larian-slipped-an-eldritch-legal-clause-into-baldurs-gate-3s-tos/
Baldur's Gate 3 has launched to much fanfare, and the early signs are that we eatin' good: real good, (...)
Such has been the heedless excitement, in fact, that I don't think one of the PC Gamer staffers playing this thing actually read through the entire terms of service. Unimaginable, right? Well it's tough luck for any of them who thought they may have a future with the Fey folk, because Larian's lawyers (truly the most fearsome sub-class) have slipped-in a clause about the player's "additional obligations under Eldritch law" near the end of the game's terms of service, as spotted by Twitter user Krenbot.
>> And they hired an actor just to make the sexy sounds.

You can get a 'happy' ending in the first minutes of Baldur's Gate 3, sort of
https://www.pcgamer.com/you-can-get-a-happy-ending-in-the-first-10-minutes-of-baldurs-gate-3-sort-of/
I love a game that allows us to defy the expectations games put on us. In Far Cry 5, for example, you can wait around doing nothing at the start of the game to avoid all of the other events in the game, rolling credits without making a move. And in Baldur's Gate 3, you can make a choice very near the start that ends the adventure before it's really begun—and your character is completely happy about it.

Check out the demo for this 4X where killer robots fight eldritch aliens on apocalyptic earth
https://www.pcgamer.com/check-out-the-demo-for-this-4x-where-killer-robots-fight-eldritch-aliens-on-apocalyptic-earth/
A new demo for 4X strategy game Zephon is out this week, encouraging you to chose a path for humanity between eldritch horror and technological subordination as you reclaim an apocalyptic earth in flux. The mission-driven 4X looks pretty promising with interesting choices not just in technology and specialization but in how you choose and execute tactics with your units, heroes, and strategic abilities.

On the off-chance anyone still cares, Overwatch 2 story missions begin soon
https://www.pcgamer.com/on-the-off-chance-anyone-still-cares-overwatch-2-story-missions-begin-soon/
Overwatch 2, the hero shooter of choice for people who haven't heard of an obscure little indie novelty called Team Fortress 2, has been teasing players with a mysterious character called the Enigma. The hacker has appeared in games and streams to drop hints about the upcoming Invasion story missions, before being revealed in a recent reveal trailer. Spoiler, it's John Cena.

Darktide promises shared wallets and other welcome quality-of-life changes in next patch
https://www.pcgamer.com/darktide-promises-shared-wallets-and-other-welcome-quality-of-life-changes-in-next-patch/
In recent months, co-operative industrial nightmare Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has added Chaos Spawn and new missions, as well as crossplay between the Steam and MS Store versions. In the next patch, which should be out mid-August, developer Fatshark is promising quality-of-life changes including additions to the mission board and crafting, as well as sharing the game's currencies between all of your characters.

Build and defend a nice little kingdom in microstrategy game Thronefall
https://www.pcgamer.com/build-and-defend-a-nice-little-kingdom-in-microstrategy-game-thronefall/
A small-scale strategy game about building and defending little castle towns has debut on Steam in Early Access. Thronefall is a minimalist strategic experience from the developers of Islanders and Superflight, part of the booming genre of indie microstrategy.

Draft up an autobattling army in the roguelike Tales & Tactics this week
https://www.pcgamer.com/draft-up-an-autobattling-army-in-the-roguelike-tales-and-tactics-this-week/

It's a combination of autobattle drafting game, like Auto Chess or Teamfight Tactics, with roguelike bonuses, items, and adventures ala Slay the Spire and its ilk.

Valve cracks down on 'wild west' of 3rd party battle passes and other real-money transactions for custom Dota 2 game modes
https://www.pcgamer.com/valve-cracks-down-on-wild-west-of-3rd-party-battle-passes-and-other-real-money-transactions-for-custom-dota-2-game-modes/
As noted by SteamDB creator Pavel Djundik, Valve has requested that all Dota 2 custom game makers cease real-money monetization in their creations by August 17. A number of popular modes for the juggernaut MOBA have already gone offline in response.

Play the demo of this cyberpunk vampire RPG
https://www.pcgamer.com/play-the-demo-of-this-cyberpunk-vampire-rpg/
Vampire Syndicate: Gangs of MoonFall calls itself "An adult cyberpunk crime lord RPG". It casts you as the recently promoted familiar of a vampire, the Renfield to her Dracula, who leads a squad of cybernetically augmented mortals who do the dirty work the undead leave to others. Also, it's a top-down RPG with turn-based combat, and sex, which I guess is technically also turn-based.

Tekken 8's EVO trailers confirm entire roster leak is actually real
https://www.pcgamer.com/tekken-8s-evo-trailers-confirm-entire-roster-leak-is-actually-real/
The Tekken 8 rumour mill has been popping off ever since dataminers began digging into the game's files from July's closed network test. There have been plenty of alleged character leaks, including one that found six unannounced characters tucked away in the files.
Yet another leak sprung earlier this week when an image alleged to be Tekken 8's base roster began circulating, and countless arguments around its legitimacy ensued. Well, this weekend's EVO reveal appears to have proved that it's very much real.

Baldur's Gate 3 FSR 2.2 upgrade likely to drop 'closer to September 6'
https://www.pcgamer.com/baldurs-gate-3-fsr-22-upgrade-likely-to-drop-closer-to-september-6/
Larian Studios has confirmed it's working on FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 2.2 support in Baldur's Gate 3—a much needed upgrade for anyone gaming on an AMD, Intel, or older Nvidia graphics card.
The developer in an earlier blog post confirmed the upgrade to FSR 2.2 is expected to happen "closer to September 6", the date when the game is set to launch on PlayStation 5.

Mortal Kombat 1 is bringing back Havik, the guy who tears his own arm off and hits you with it
https://www.pcgamer.com/mortal-kombat-1-is-bringing-back-havik-the-guy-who-tears-his-own-arm-off-and-hits-you-with-it/
In the world of Mortal Kombat, where people are constantly tearing off each other's extremities, only one man had the courage to say: "No more. My extremities are mine to tear off." That man was Havik.
(...)
Such a gory signature style makes him the perfect fit with the nauseatingly high-fidelity violence of the modern Mortal Kombat era—so it's a pleasure to see he'll be one of the playable fighters in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1.

I had something even worse happen - the esc key literally stopped working for no reason. Sometimes the games skip dialogues, too. Weird.

Thankfully I noticed it soon since I'm always save scumming the stupid D&D dice.

Steam is at it again:

By the way, since some of them are verified for the Steam Deck, Baldur's Gate 3 now it's also verified.

SALES /PLAYER COUNT & DEALS

Baldur's Gate 3 smashes 500,000 concurrent users on Steam
https://www.pcgamer.com/baldurs-gate-3-smashes-500000-concurrent-users-on-steam/
I knew Baldur's Gate 3 was going to be big, but I didn't think it was going to be this big: In its second day of release, Larian's epic D&D RPG has surpassed 500,000 concurrent players on Steam.
That's not enough to put it atop the Steam chart, which is immutably dominated by Counter-Strike: Global offensive, a game that routinely has well over 1 million people playing at any given time. But it does put it within spitting distance of the perennial runner-up, Dota 2, and well past other heavyweights like PUBG, Apex Legends, Naraka: Bladepoint, and Grand Theft Auto 5.

Over 800,000 now

Thanks.

Those are extremely impressive numbers for any game, and even more so for a game like BG3.

What I've been playing recently....

Borderlands GOTY Enhanced (Steam/PC) - finished the final main storyline mission in Fyrestone/Arid Badlands, just about two more side quests and I'll be moving on to the next section finally. Lv 20 Support Gunner and 15 hours in.

Street Fighter V (Steam/PC) - Playing through Arcade mode under Street Fighter IV section, finished 14 out of 23 characters. 24 hours in.

Final Fantasy VI (Steam/PC) - this is the mobile remake, reached Koholigen with my selected party of 4 (Locke, Celes, Edgar and Sabin), average party lv 14 at 8 hours in.

Never done Final Fantasy VI, that's why I hope there will be a remake .

Atlas Fallen got its first review from a German website (PixelCritics) which gave 7,7/10 (thank you Alex)

PRO:
Interesting story
Cool combat combo flow
Solid synchronization
Enemies with different hit zones
Crunchy, challenging level of difficulty that never gets unfair
Pretty world to explore
Numerous skills to find and combine
No overly stretched open-world playtime

CONTRA:
Another nameless hero
Somewhat empty world
Simply side quests
Hit feedback or block timing looks oddly wrong
Easy / clumsy dialogues
Only 3 weapons
Nyaal talks too much

PLAYTIME: 25-30 hours
