I'd look up DDU and get rid of the old drivers completely before installing the new ones.

Ah thought as much. Thanks 👍 Will read up and run before install.

Haven't messed around with drivers tbh for a while.. haha. Want to try and avoid any potentiial issues. Which reminds me.. have to uninstall afterburner too lol.

No prob. Largely the normal uninstall and install method is fine but DDU gets rid of any lingering nonsense lol. And yea, make sure to get the latest version of Afterburner if you want to OC or use the OSD.

Intel proposes x86S, a 64-bit only architecture

The biggest question for moving to a 64bit only arch for PC is what will happen to old applications? Can we still run old games via translation layer or will it simply break all compatibility?

That Acer triple fan seems kinda excessive for the 7600. Looks like they recycled that cooler from the A770. Which isn't a bad thing, as that was rated for 225W.

And.. its come. Time for some upgrade!

No Diablo IV code yet though, unfortunately.

Noice! Let us know how it goes.

Got it installed and up and running. Pretty straight forward and only took a few minutes. Didn't bother with the anti-sag bracket as it gets in the way of my SSD slot, this being a gargantuan triple slot GPU. Used my own, for now. Might install later when I can be arsed to cable manage and sort out my SSD's. The card barely clears my Pci-e x4 slot which has my other SSD on it, which was a relief.

The card itself is fracking yuge, and heavy. But it does look cool with its RGB and the GPU runs very cool (and quiet) in terms of temps and a little overkill if I'm being honest.

As for games.. only tried Cyberpunk, with max settings with overdrive enabled. It runs well.. with frame gen. Didn't bother with FPS counter but it felt like in the 40's without it enabled. A bit yucky if I'm being honest. With frame gen so much better/smoother and is the way I'd play it with. Only caveat being its slightly less responsive with some added imput lag. I would say its like playing without Reflex on - aka native. Only played a bit in Night city, in well, the night but it looks fantastic with all the RT effects on.

Noice! Glad to hear it went smoothly. Yea Cyberpunk with Path Tracing is very heavy without frame gen even on a 4090 but it is a visual orgasm if you have a capable card like yours. Does yours have any coil whine or is it quiet af? And yea, the GPU sizes are unnecessarily big this gen. The 4070 Ti uses a max of 300 watts but the cooler is more for a 400 watt GPU lul.

Speaking of the 4060, I'll get this laptop probably next month: Asus TUF Gaming A15 FA507NV-LP031W - Jaeger Gray | Livré demain - Krëfel (krefel.be)

CPU: Ryzen 7 7735HS

GPU: RTX 4060

16GB (2x8) RAM

Already 200€ off, so 1349€

What do you guys think?

Looks solid.

Asus TUF and Acer Nitro are making some really banging price/performance orientated notebooks these days that are hard to beat.

Truth be told, I was tempted to upgrade my RTX3060 notebook, but once I found out the RTX 4060 notebooks only had 2GB of extra VRAM I abandoned that idea, I would still be VRAM limited.

They are great as a secondary machine though for more casual/esports titles.

The Ryzen 7 CPU being a HS part is going to be a very solid performer... I would upgrade the Ram, I feel 16GB is limiting in 2023, but that's just me personally, depends how you intend to use it.

Yeah, upgrading the RAM down the line is on the bucket list. A bigger SSD (the laptop only comes with a 512GB SSD) for the second slot comes first as I need a lot of storage, though, but 2x16GB sticks will come next year as an upgrade. A 2TB extra SSD and 32GB RAM ought to be enough given the mid-range GPU.

Intel could call that Itanium 2 or iAPX432/2 to make it clear how much chance it has from becoming a future standard

Damn a $399 8G 4060 Ti marketed for 1080p with reduced settings in the official benchmarks doesn't sound exciting at all.
There shouldn't be new 8GB cards anymore, especially not if you market their DLSS3 and RT capabilities which both consume more VRAM. 12GB for 1080p, 16GB for 1440p and 24GB for 4K imo.

At least the used market has somewhat recovered. Like 3060s 12GB dropping well below 250€ for example.

There may still be some issues with production costs because AMD doesn't counter nVidia's overpriced mid-range yet. Or everyone just got used to the margins that were possible when large-scale GPU mining was still a thing.

Cheers. Yup, certainly is taxing. Have it running 1440P with DLSS Quality and frame gen and its just about a decent enough performance to be enjoyable. Which to be fair I haven't even bother optimising other settings just everything maxed out. Tbf never thought we'd see realtime pathtracing in a AAA game like CP2077 but here we are. Trickery aside.. frame gen and DLSS are amazing technologies and do actually work.

And yeah its like AiB's just slapped on all 4070Ti/4080 cards with crazy coolers that were designed for OC'd 4090 and passing the cost onto us lol. Not to complain. Its nice to have better, quieter cooler than screaming cards of old.

For coil whine.. There is a slight hint of it when I put my head near my PC with the case open; when idle. With it closed, I don't notice anything. When I'm playing a game even more so. Maybe its also because I have my headphones on while playing lol. Miles away better than my 1070 and PS5 (that ones so bad).
