Lmao oh how the great have fallen. I hope Rockstar sees Saints Row as a warning cause if they put shit like this in GTA VI... Oh boy...

Didn't you egt the memo lol?.

R* have "cleaned up their act" and their "frat behaviour", and the new protag of the upcoming GTA is going back to being a single character and it will be a Latina gal, which could very well mean us seeing yet another "Rey" character (you know, the "I'm strong, don't need to earn my power/respect of others" kind of female protag, like we've been seeing in movies thus far (prey movie also comes to mind recently on that subject).

I don't think I can really trust the AAA industry to really write good characters that aren't trying to pander to some particular group, let alone an audience in their 30-40's.

SR reboot feels like it's trying to target millennials and anti-capitalists/ Warriors, and EA was mucking around with the Sims with their semi recent update to earn brownie points, I wouldn't put it past R* to listen to the smaller crowd instead of the ppl that have been playing their games for nearly 3 decades now.

)for the record, I'm not saying EA shouldn't have added that update, I just feel like they are abusing that particular crowd to earn brownie points, just like every corp on the planet when pride month is on and they change their avatars to Pride colours, it just reeks hollowness).

I know some folks really hate the "go woke, go broke" line, but ppl are really getting fed up of poorly written characters, movies, comics and shit and since gaming is taking a bit of a hit on all sides, we don't really need writing to take an even bigger hit, so a smaller less caring audience (I'm going to be honest, they don't, warriors and the like have hardly cared for what came before, because they already show that they love rewriting history, which also means they cannot respect prior text/media) can bask in some shallow veiled win for a short period of time, and a win that won't even matter in the long-run, because those corps would dump them when another gen of gamers rolls around the corner anyways (just like hoe we're getting dumped from games like SR for example).

Seeing some devs straight up call previous/current fans "haters" for not agreeing with your lazily written slop is just setting a toxic and ugly example of new-age devs thinking it's cool to run your mouth on social media, and getting rewarded/applauded for it/ This is why PR and marketing exist, because devs aren't well coerced in keeping their mouths shut when someone criticises their baby (even if their baby turned out to be ass ugly and poorly written millennial crap).

I'm not going to shed a tear for Vio though. They've made two duds in a row, the devs that made the old SR games clearly aren't there anymore, and these new devs love to call fans like me "haters", and then release slop like this, even after the 7 month delay and Epic games cash injection. Nah man, fuck'em, I actually hope Embracer takes the IP away from them or closes them, because I believe they deserve it for talking shit and now they get hit (I've so little tolerance for devs running their mouths on social media, just like the ooblet's devs, no dev should get that angsty, just zip the mouth and work on your game, your code speaks louder than insults on twitter).

Yea I know about that whole thing but it will be interesting to see to what extent does Rockstar do that. Like if they go full blown woke nonsense like Saints Row has... Hell there may even be riots loll.

And yea, lots of devs and publishers and such hate criticisms. Either you agree or you are a hater. Its very tone deaf and it wouldn't surprise me if we see more studios close because they didn't listen to feedback. Hell what's even worse is a lot of these people will still do mental gymnastics even if their game flops. No it couldn't possibly be all this shitty game design, dialog and woke nonsense. No, it has to be the lack of marketing or haters that caused it to flop. Hollywood with their "female lead reboots" of iconic movies shows the dumb ego of a lot of people.

I think at some point, we will see a breaking point with all this nonsense and personally, it can't come soon enough.

Prepare for Dragonflight with a free copy of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands
https://www.pcgamer.com/prepare-for-dragonflight-with-a-free-copy-of-world-of-warcraft-shadowlands/
If you don't own World of Warcraft's Shadowlands expansion, you can get it free for the next few weeks—as well as a level 50 character boost—though you'll need to claim it by September 5.
(...)
Naturally, there are a couple of stipulations. The first one might seem obvious but you can't already own Shadowlands—that applies to any WoW accounts linked to your Battle.net. So if you have, say, a second account for auctioning or crafting, you can't claim a free Shadowlands upgrade if you already have the current expansion on your main WoW account. You'll also need to have any previous expansion license attached to the account you want to upgrade.

Death Templer has shared a video, showcasing Battlefield 4’s iconic Operation Metro map being recreated in Halo Infinite Forge. Death Templer is also the mapper behind another cool Halo Infinite Forge map, in which he attempted to recreate Silent Hills P.T.
What’s really cool here is that the mapper may release these maps during the Open Beta phase of Halo Infinite Forge. From what we know so far, 343 Industries will officially release Forge to the public in November 2022. However, its Open Beta phase will begin next month.

The least likable developer on Steam may have hit the limit of its permissive moderation
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-least-likable-developer-on-steam-may-have-hit-the-limit-of-its-permissive-moderation/
Dolphin Barn's gladiator management sim Domina lost any appeal it may have had when, starting last May, its developer began inserting screeds against "soft" men and LGBTQ people into the game's patch notes and forum discussions. The game's official account has been banned on both Twitter and Bandcamp, with the individual having previously equated support for trans youth with pedophilia on the former platform.
Now the developer says he's been temporarily banned from posting on his own game's Steam forums, although he can still publish Domina patch notes, the latest of which accuses Valve and Steam Support of being "cowards." Meanwhile, Domina's "Mostly Negative" recent reviews are full of references to the developer's views, the game's forums are a battleground, and Dolphin Barn's recent banning shows Steam's typically laissez-faire moderation turning its attention to the game.

GTA creator reports Rockstar put copyright strikes on his prototype videos
https://www.pcgamer.com/gta-creator-reports-rockstar-put-copyright-strikes-on-his-prototype-videos/
One of the founding members of DMA Design, the studio that created the Grand Theft Auto franchise, is the latest victim of Take-Two and Rockstar's itchy copyright trigger finger. Videos posted to YouTube by developer Mike Dailly from his early time at DMA Design were taken down on copyright strikes. Dailly was the first employee at DMA Design and later created the graphics engine for GTA, the bedrock for the series' now-famous style.

How to watch Gamescom Opening Night Live 2022

The yearly German gaming festival Gamescom is back in person this year and so is its kickoff event Opening Night Live. Geoff Keighley is returning again to host the evening and we can expect a similar sort of event to his Summer Game Fest shows. ONL will come with premieres and announcements and gameplay for some of the big upcoming games of 2022 and 2023.
Of course, ONL isn't the only place for previews and announcements next week. Check out our full Gamescom 2022 schedule for a list of events to watch. Don't worry, this week isn't as cram-packed with broadcasts as the middle of June. For the most compact reel of reveals though, Opening Night Live is where you'll want to tune in.

It looks like Sonic Frontiers is speeding towards a November launch
https://www.pcgamer.com/it-looks-like-sonic-frontiers-is-speeding-towards-a-november-launch/
Sonic Frontiers has been a rather baffling project so far. PC Gamer's Morgan Park saw a 30-minute playable demo during not-E3 and though he thought it was "bad" in the way many modern Sonic games are, he also couldn't wait to play more. This open-world, puzzling platformer looks like the hedgehog's attempt to get a little Breath of the Wild, but how that works as a tiny mammal whose sole desires include going fast and fast food, lord knows. In any case we've now seemingly got a release date due to a new Japanese trailer.

Two of the best racing sims are being delisted from Steam. Both Project Cars 1 and 2 are going to be removed from Valve's storefront in the coming months due the expiration of various licences and, boy, is that really sad for both the team at Slightly Mad as well as fans of the series.

I just read that SR apparently had a budget of 100m

Why is it that the higher the budget, the more mediocre the game?.

There's no way they spent half of that on the marketing or catering for staff. SR reboot is def not a $100m game.

Like could you imagine that kind of funding for indie devs, and what multitude of games that could bring us?, but instead we get this anti capitalist, "check your privs" game instead.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

While the tdp figures do seem a lot more reasonable with his newer leaks than the older ones and while 16GB of GDDR6X continues to be great, the 9728 cuda cores is a bit meh honestly when a 4090 is supposed to have 16,000+. We will see how it all plays out though.

Jayztwocents "apology" video

You know, after watching this... While he does technically apologize, it feels like he is trying to suger coat it. He compares the GPU prices from his original video to the GPU prices on the day he made this video and only from select places like bestbuy and evga (mostly evga). Then he goes to say things like "it's only $60-$100 or $200 if you count that other one" sort of the deal. And then he lists "rumours" that suggest 4000 series are delayed to be from credible sources. Personally I don't think he learnt his lesson.

The issue is that many GPUs went on sale with a much bigger discount through things like flash sales from newegg and such and that is something he largely ignored. He had a tiny section at the end but he very much glanced over the fact that many retailers were have pretty significant sales on many AIB models while he limited his research to FE and Evga only from Evga's own site. And saying that if we googled 4000 series delayed, we will find credible sources saying it will be delayed is insane. He did say to take them with a grain of salt but imo, this video at best, feels like an half-apology.

I haven¡'t seen the video. That said, if an apology video can be summarized "I was wrong but...", then you're not apologizing, you're trying to do damage control.
