"Interesting to see "nvn_dlss_backend.h", "nvndlss.cpp", and "nvn_dlss.cpp" in TechPowerUp's provided picture, since NVN is the name for the Nintendo Switch's API."

It certainly sounds like the Switch 2 is gonna be hella powerful

Will Ninty and 3rd party actually bother to utilise that power tho?, or are we gonna end up with sparse looking towns and forests again?. I dunno, Ninty and power these days doesn't sound as promising as it was back in the GC days.

I had a high bar set when we got games like REmake 1 on GC and since then.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

They probably will. Nintendo does use the additional power of the Switch in various titles and the Switch isn't really powerful enough for most AAA third party games but even then, we have seen some titles like the Witcher 3 get ported to the Switch. So I do think they will use all that power, just not in every title.

The 3070 => 4070 jump seems too big compared to the rest. It's not that I don't believe it, past xx70 chips have performed like the xx80Tis of the gen they replace, but it still seems a bit too much this time around.

We'll see, tho.

Not to be a party pooper, but just because the Switch successor could have DLSS, that doesn't mean that it has to be based on the AD10B chip. After all, Nvidia developed Lovelace because Hopper was too expensive to be downscaled for gaming GPUs and it could still be too expensive to be used in one of the Tegras they use for self-driving cars and other applications.

Besides, Nintendo going for the latest tech available? That hasn't happened since the GameCube, and I'm not sure they feel the need to spend so much on the hardware side.
Then again, Nvidia may want to have the fastest and more powerful handheld available and offer Nintendo a sweet deal to beat the Steam Deck but, while Nvidia is that pety every now and then, it's unlikely.

You do realize that the Pokemon game you're talking about isn't made by Nintendo but GameFreak, a studio that has shown time and time again that, when it comes to Pokemon games, they're as lazy as possible?

Morover, Nintendo also has studios that make demanding games, even if their graphical style makes them look simple. EAD 3 and Monolith come to mind.

Don't forget ray tracing and that each of Mario's mustache hairs will have its own physics simulation.

With great power comes great price. Greatly increased price that is.

Yea we will have to see. If Nintendo does go with Lovelace or even DLSS, I think the Switch 2 will cost $400 starting. The earliest we will probably see a switch 2 will be 2024 imo since Nvidia will release their mobile SoC for Lovelace next year and low end versions the year after. Nintendo certainly isn't the one to go for the latest and greatest but who knows. With new CEO, new management and Nvidia designing the hardware, maybe they will finally break the pattern.
