Ah, Don Mattrick! That's a name I hadn't heard for a long time. You actually made me look what he's doing nowadays (the answer is not much).

But in this case, Win10 will still be a perfect OS for most of us.

I still do not believe they will go through with this. I think (but don't quote me on this) they try to do this every generation but they end up backpaddling. Apparently they are going to have a blog post about this sometime next week. Least some of the memes are funny.

My bet TPM 2.0 and limited CPU support will be a requirement for OEM copies for pre builds and system integrated but not for retail copies for DIY's in the end.

I think it does both things, to be honest.

When I build my father's PC, I activated the copy of Windows during the installation with a MSoft account. Then, we found out that one of t he components was faulty and had to ask replacements for them (the faulty bit turned out to be the RAM). When I installed Windows again, I got the message that the licence was already in use in another system. Long story short, a call to MSoft did nothing and I had to buy another windows license.

So yeah, it doesn't matter if it's a MSoft account or a local account, if you get new hardware, you'll need a new license.

At least I learned the lesson, skip the activation (which you can) until all is done and I know the system works fine.

You didnt need a new license. I had to do this with my new PC and all i need was to deactivate the license from my old PC and transfer it to my new one. Having an MS account made this pretty easy for me. So im shocked that MS couldnt help you or guide you with the steps to do it.

Well, you got a more willing person at the other end of the phone.

Given that I didn't have a PC to deactivate, as I had send the parts back, I was given no other option than getting a new license for what was, according to them, a new PC.

That sucks and is truly on Ms's end. To be honest before i got a new license id of pushed the issue and tried to get someone else on the phone.

Had it been my PC, maybe I'd have also done that, but it wasn't and I needed to get it fixed soon.

If there's one thing that's making me consider cloud gaming, it's this god damn heat wave...

My PC/PS5/Xbox/Gaming laptop are all useless cause they make my room too damn hot. At best, I am playing games on my XPS 17 and M1 ipad pro 12.9 inch as those give off the least amount of heat. (My sister has my switch).

Don't let me down now 2060 max Q

Not neccesary the heat in my case but i got a group that recently got into coming together and playing on laps. I cant drag my case plus 55" tv easily, so im considering something portable just for ease of use

42ª, that's impressive. I hope, for your best, that it's a dry heat. Otherwise... may God have mercy of your soul.

I must admit, due to all this nonsense heat and being limited to playing games on my Dell XPS 17 with a 2060 Max Q and i7, I am surprised how good the performance is at 1080p. I bought this laptop primarily for work around Summer of 2020 but never really played much games on it. But in a lot of titles, it can get well above 60fps easily at 1080p. Obviously the big pp ones like Cyberpunk would destroy it even with DLSS but for a lot of AA titles like Scarlet Nexus at max settings. It runs 60 fps+ without any issues.

Well, most recent games were also designed with the PS4/X1 consoles in mind and a 2060, even the Max Q, is a fair share more powerful than them. So yeah, it'll be enough for a while, until PS5/XsX becomes the base of the new games and PC requirements jump again.
