A few more things but I am sure there will be more news!

Windows 11 Upgrade Compatibility Checker is Live

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-11

Now there is a bug currently where if you don't have TPM/SecureBoot enabled in your BIOS, it will fail the checker. Most likely they will fix it or not have TPM/SecureBoot as a requirement.

Direct Storage might be exclusive to Windows 11 and requires 1TB Nvme SSD

https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2021/06/24/windows-11-the-best-windows-ever-for-gaming/

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-11-specifications

"With DirectStorage, which will only be available with Windows 11"

"DirectStorage requires 1 TB or greater NVMe SSD to store and run games that uses the "Standard NVM Express Controller" driver and a DirectX 12 Ultimate GPU.""

Rip Skype and Cortana

After what happened this last year where virtual meetings and conferences have been common practice and yet MSoft failed to take advantage of that with Skype, it's not surprising to see them giving up and removing it from Win 11.

Cortana... did anyone use it?

Please excuse my bad English.

Woop free update.

Only thing is I tried the PC Health Check and it says its not compatible with Windows 11 because my PC doesn't meet requirements :/ Which is weird because there shouldn't be any issue with secure boot and and AMD TPM enabled.. so dunno whats up with that. Hopefully will be able to sort it out before release.

Anyone else tried the compatibility check?

Here comes some quirks for Windows 11...

Windows 11 Home edition requires internet connectivity and a Microsoft account to complete device setup on first use.

If you have Windows 11 Pro, you can skip the MS account

Supported processors for Windows 11

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/design/minimum/supported/windows-11-supported-intel-processors

TL;DR: Intel 8th Gen or up, Ryzen 2nd Gen or up. I am assuming this is going to change otherwise the CPU compatibility will be very limited.

Ah nice, at least you're good to go when it goes live!

Not going to mess around with my bios now because its late (and tired af) but man what a pia. I tested to see if TPM 2.0 was up and running via Run and "tpm.msc" so it should be okay but yeah lol.

Apparently, I can't run it either. It doesn't really surprise me as it's starting to get old.

*Edit* Given by Yuri's list of supported CPUs, yeah that's why mine isn't suited for it.

My first reaction to hearing about a new Windows was concern, but so far W11 is a pleasant surprise. I'd been considering a multi-monitor setup for some time but those Snap features make it seem unnecessary. Gaming improvements and free upgrades are always welcome and hopefully my old Surface Pro benefits as well. Looking forward to it.

If you want a less bloated OS... Seems that Windows 11 will indeed have less bloat compared to Windows 10!

https://www.theverge.com/2021/6/24/22548950/microsoft-windows-11-skype-onenote-live-tiles-cortana

- Cortana is no longer part of the boot experience
- Live Tiles will no longer be available in the Start menu
- There’s no more tablet mode, and Windows 10’s lightweight S mode (arguably also handy for tablets) will only be available in Windows 11 Home
- Skype is one of a few apps that will no longer be included in clean installs of the new OS
- OneNote for Windows 10 also won’t be included in clean installs
- In addition, Microsoft is no longer including Paint 3D and 3D Viewer

Thank fuck honestly. Fuck all those apps. You can still download them from the store if you want but I won't miss any of them.

One not so good part though is..

"You will no longer be able to pin the taskbar to any side of the screen — it can only be aligned to the bottom in Windows 11. Apps also can’t customize areas of the taskbar."

DirectStorage being exclusive to W11 is a bit lame, but oh well.
