I see ppl using his phrase to this day, but I feel like games like Mighty #9 and some other titles broke his advice. You can delay a game for as long as you like, but poor management, staff leaving or getting fired, having a poor budget or having it spent on marketing, can still lead to bad games.

Part two of the Tuesday news:

The next Battlefield will reportedly be called Battlefield 2042
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/the-next-battlefield-will-reportedly-be-called-battlefield-2042/
The next Battlefield game will take us to the far-flung future of "21 years from now", if rumours of a potential Battlefield 2042 are true.
Filling in the middle ground between series debut 1942 and the mech-filled warzones of 2142, the next Battlefield will supposedly take us into the near-future when it's announced later this week. This tracks with the many, many leaks we've seen of the game so far, with footage showing us slightly-futuristic gunships and war robots battling across tropical beaches.

Genshin Impact casually reveals two new characters months ahead of their release
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/genshin-impact-casually-reveals-two-new-characters-months-ahead-of-their-release/
Genshin Impact's next major update drops on Wednesday, but developer MiHoYo did something surprising today and revealed two new characters presumably coming in July's 1.7 update. The first of those revealed is Sayu, a four-star Anemo character that is rumored to be a healer (her weapon type hasn't been officially revealed yet). She's apparently a Ninja and hails from the Inazuma region, which will be the first major continent added to Genshin Impact when it launches later this year.

Rainbow Six Quarantine officially renamed Extraction, full reveal coming on Saturday
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/rainbow-six-quarantine-officially-renamed-extraction-full-reveal-coming-on-saturday/
Rainbow Six Quarantine was a fairly safe, conventional title for a videogame in 2019, until an actual pandemic gripped the globe and suddenly the whole thing seemed a lot less cool than it did in early planning sessions. Earlier this year, Ubisoft acknowledged that a new title might be in order, but denied a subsequent report that it would be rechristend as Rainbow Six Parasite. (We continued to call it that, though, because we had to call it something, right?)
Today, it finally made a new handle official: Rainbow Six Quarantine will be called Rainbow Six Extraction.

Fortnite is getting a Rick and Morty crossover
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/rick-and-morty-fortnite/
Really, if you think about it, this was inevitable. Rick and Morty, the popular Adult Swim show about a drunk mad scientist, his grandson, and their increasingly bizarre and grotesque adventures through space and alternate dimensions, is getting a Fortnite crossover.

A Splinter Cell, Division, and Ghost Recon mashup FPS is rumored to be in development
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/a-splinter-cell-division-and-ghost-recon-mashup-fps-is-rumored-to-be-in-development/
A new leak suggests that Ubisoft is in the early stages of development on an FPS that mashes together three Tom Clancy series: Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, and The Division. The game, apparently called The Division BattleCat, is a competitive FPS with unique class abilities and multiple modes.

How to watch the 2021 PC Gaming Show
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/pc-gaming-show-2021-time/
I may be biased, but I think the PC Gaming Show is one of the absolute highlights of E3—a not-to-be-missed extravaganza of PC-specific announcements, previews, and occasional diversions into the unexpected. The show is returning for 2021 next Sunday, and if you'd like to tune in to watch (and you really should), here's all you need to know about how to do it.

What to expect from the Gearbox E3 2021 stream
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/what-to-expect-from-the-gearbox-e3-2021-stream/
This year, there's only one question on our minds when approaching the Gearbox E3 showcase this weekend. Has Randy Pitchford packed away the DIY magic kit for good? This year, we're expecting a whole lotta Borderlands out of Gearbox, from a peek at that movie to a potential new game. But with a history of publishing weird and colourful games, the star of this weekend's show could hit us from out of nowhere.

Fortnite Season 7's alien invasion has begun
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/fortnite-season-7s-alien-invasion-has-begun/
For a world that's already dealt with time-travel, extradimensional cubes, mech fights and nude bananas, you'd think an alien invasion would be trivial for Fortnite. And yet, arriving today, Season 7: Invasion has set UFOs loose across the island for a fresh bout of extra-terrestrial carnage.

I usually try to do is finding the code of the image and try to post it. In this case it didn't work, but DSOGaming made an article about it and I could get it from there:

Jon Peddie Research: GPU market sees 38.74% increase in Q1 2021 year-over-year

https://videocardz.com/press-release/jon-peddie-research-gpu-market-sees-38-74-increase-in-q1-2021-year-over-year

GPU shipment up to 119m units, up ~39% YoY

nVidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Performance Summary: 8 reviews & 940 benchmarks compiled

https://www.reddit.com/r/hardware/comments/nuhcyw/nvidia_geforce_rtx_3080_ti_performance_summary_8/

3dcenter only compiled 4k benches so far but it's obviously just a slightly slower 3090. There's also comparisons against AMD cards in the link which it beats.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti tested ahead of launch

https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3070-ti-tested-ahead-of-launch

Now these aren't with release drivers but essentially, it sits between a 3080 and a 3070. As with a 3080 Ti, I'd suggest spending the extra money if you can find one at MSRP and getting the next tier up.

I did want to lay out the upcoming CPU roadmap based on rumors and confirmations as it's going to get interesting

Alder Lake S Zen 3 V-Cache Raptor Lake Zen 4 Meteor Lake Zen 5

Now this is based on rumours so take it with a grain of salt.

Alder Lake S will certainly be the most interesting CPU to come out for a while. First CPU that not only does big.LITTLE but also has both DDR5 and PCIE5. AMD ironically has switched places where they will be behind in RAM and PCI-E technologies for essentially an entire year. Of course, the main question will be how powerful will Alder Lake S's big cores will be. If those Big cores turn out to be slower than Zen 3 refresh which will only have big cores, then Intel will still be in trouble. Still, a ton of the interesting times ahead for the PC CPU industry!

I'm somewhat surprised that AMD has managed to increase their marketshare. Maybe they've managed to get more stock into the market that Nvidia.

Maybe Nvidia was less prone to increase their GPU orders as much as AMD was given that we don't know when this boom for new parts will end and that they already got burn during the last mining collapse, a point that JDP states in their report.

And yeah, the CPU segment will soon enter a new stage with the release of the dual architecture cores as well as the new RAM and PCI standards.

I sure hope Alder Lake will bring Intel back into the fight, other wise they'll be in trouble and we'll also be in trouble with AMD potentially rising prices again. We need both companies on(at?) their prime to keep competition going forward.

I think it makes sense overall as Q1 is when AMD's GPUs should have really started ramping up production as AMD didn't release RDNA 2 until the end of November. Nvidia's still shipped a ton more GPUs than AMD though but they are also splitting their shipments into desktop and notebooks.

"Overall GPU unit shipments decreased by -0.3% from last quarter, AMD shipments decreased by -1.0%, Intel’s shipments decreased by -1.0%, and Nvidia’s shipments increased 3.9%."

Keep in mind that the "overall GPU" also includes integrated GPUs and the decrease is compared to the last quarter, which is always the biggest one with X-mas and the like.
