AMD patents ‘Gaming Super Resolution’, is FidelityFX Super Resolution ready?

https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-patents-gaming-super-resolution-is-fidelityfx-super-resolution-ready

Hopefully this means they will be showing it off during their upcoming event. While it's hard to tell exactly how it works based on the patent information, I don't think there is any ML involved by the looks of things.

One thing I found a bit interesting with these lawsuits is how much Apple likes to control their iOS to the extent that I don't think I will ever be buying an iphone. Apparently if you try to browse nsfw subreddits on Safari on iOS, it blocks you entirely because it detects that you are on iOS and tells you to use their reddit app... Skip to 24 minutes.

Not to mention the changes that Discord needed to make as well to comply with Apples nonsense about the nsfw porn. To me that's like... Uhh no thanks... I am beginning to think reddit's ban of nsfw porn content in /r/all is partly because of how stingy Apple is regarding the subject to which I say... Fuck dat

That's good, and I hope they show something as soon as possible... but the patent was filled last November and it's very generic. I'm not sure it means that it's close to launch.

Someone should check if the guys at Noctua are fine because not only are they going to release that beast of a cooler that looks to weigh a ton and could rip your motherboard if you're not careful, but if you look at its roadmap you can see that by Q4 this year they plan to release... white fans!

Noctua, what is happening to you?

Please excuse my bad English.

To be fair, if Noctua releases white versions of their NF-A12x25, I'd replace most of my current fans with those :P

Ngl, I'm kinda interested in a big passive Noctua.. to keep noise levels down, if anything. Maybe when my AIO dies lol.

Also really keen to see SR performance and fidelity. Will be a big plus for people with recent AMD cards but also benefits consoles and portables, so hoping it delivers.

Yea many have tried to do passive cooling but thanks to the modern CPU cooling requirements and AIOs being so popular, there hasn't been much success. I will be interested to see how Noctua does since their cooling produces have exceeded market expectations in the past.

And yea, FSR gonna be very interesting. Even if it turns out to not be as good as DLSS, it will help a RDNA 2 devices greatly in the era of Ray Tracing. Who doesn't like a free performance boost?

True even with some of the recent one like from Scythe.. they don't seem to perform particularly well under high load/s.

Found an article with several passive coolers bench-marked here https://www.fullysilentpcs.com/2020/12/07/the-best-fanless-cpu-cooler-showdown-2/?v=79cba1185463

Knowing Noctua though, this will be pretty much top tier in air cooling - in its size/form factor and category. And if its in the same league as the NH-U12S (or slightly lower) in terms of cooling capacity while being completely silent, that would be quite awesome.

Keep in mind that Noctua rates its passive cooler for up to 120W TDP, which limits the processors you'll be able to use it with.

AMD Ryzen 6000 notebook roadmap leaks, 6nm Rembrandt with Zen3+ and Navi2 in 2022

Is Intel Back? Intel Core i7-11800H Review, Tiger Lake H45 is Here

Now normally I don't do hardware unboxed but I as they are the only reviewer that bothered to do some gaming benchmarks + i7 instead of the i9 that no one should buy... I was curious enough.

TLDW: Ryzen beats Intel in Productivity while Intel matches or beats Ryzen in gaming. The power scaling is also interesting. At lower power state, Ryzen out performs Intel by quite a notable margin but Intel scales better with higher power to performance than Ryzen. I will be curious to see how the battery life is and how Intel does when more gaming benches are out. The good news is Intel 11th gen deliveries 30% more performance than last gen so it will be interesting to see how Alder Lake S does.

Why Legion 5 Pro Underperforms Explained (And How To Fix!)

Legion 5 Pro with Ryzen seems to be under performing against other Ryzen laptops with similar configuration. The reason? The RAM! While on paper it has the same specs as every other Ryzen laptops in it's category, for some reason, if you swapped out the RAM with a more reputable brand... Boom, it now performs like every other laptop in it's class. We do know Ryzen is very sensitive to RAM and GN has done a number of tests where even a lower tier RAM can out perform a higher tier RAM with Ryzen if you don't pick the correct Memory. Still, you would think Lenovo would double check their benchmarks before putting this up for sale... Unless of course, this is a way for them to up sell you on their Legion 7...
