With so many chips build from different nodes and places, it looks more like a Franken-chip than an actual thing.

We'll see how the final product performs.

And all that in a tiny thin laptop that makes last year's G14 look bulky by comparison. Only bad point is that the GPU is virtually the same as in the Ryzen 4000 laptops.

Tiger Lake-H can't come soon enough for Intel

It would be built at 5nm TSMC, it should be half the size, if everything else is kept equal of course.

A large part of the chip is cache and logic which could continue to be built at 7nm and likely live as it's own wittle chippy.

Jumping on a new node won't make it better because the yields will be low and the chiplets will still be relatively big.

If they went with 40CU instead of 80, the situation would be better. Not only the smaller size would make for better yields, but it would give AMD a better starting point allowing them to make cards with 40, 80, 120 and even the 160CUs of the rumor, enough to make a whole range of cards.

Once you move the caches, video decode engines, fixed function units and more onto it's own separate die, 80CU's would definitely be more than viable.

Either way, AMD is playing a longer game here, so they may be willing to take a hit on yields initially if it meant something more promising long term.

The 5980HS is running at up-to 35-54w TDP (Up to OEM)... So it's no surprising she is a performer.

The Ryzen 7 5800U is the more impressive chip at a 25w TDP.

GPU performance wasn't going to move much when the GPU is the same number of CU's, slight bump in clock... But the biggest issue that holds it back is the DDR4 3200mhz memory.

Uhm... no? That's the 5980HX you're describing there. The HS must run at 35W stock (else AMD, who is very stringent on this point after having been screwed over by a lack of oversight on their part with past APUs, will ship the 5900H instead), but can optionally run at a slightly higher TDP, 45W when the dGPU is off in this model. And afaik 45W is the limit for the HS model. If you want to go past 45W, you need the HX - or use a desktop CPU set to a lower TDP with a custom board.

I agree that the 5800U will certainly be more impressive, but I haven't seen a test of that one yet.

Rocket League's latest arena is getting an option to toggle off its lighting effects, after some players reported experiencing seizures playing on the pitch.
Introduced last month, Neon Fields is an aggressively cyberpunk map. It's that 80s text generator turned into a football pitch, Tron's neon-lit light-bike arenas repurposed as car-soccer arenas lit by every vaporwave sunset. Unfortunately, The Loadout reported that the bright strobe lights were giving some players epileptic seizures—and with no way to reliably avoid individual maps, this suddenly made the game unplayable for these people.
