Xbox Game Pass for PC exits beta next week, and the price is going up
https://www.pcgamer.com/xbox-game-pass-for-pc-exits-beta-next-week-and-the-price-is-going-up/
Xbox Game Pass for PC has been bizarrely cheap since it launched into beta last year: an initial $1 trial month rolled into a $5 per month subscription, which was more than worth it for a library of over 100 games. But all good things must come to an end, and starting next week, Xbox Game Pass for PC will exit beta and its monthly price will double.
It's not unexpected: the $5 per month was always a limited offer and the usual $10 a month (AU$10.95) is about what you'd expect to pay for a subscription service. For reference, in the US Netflix Standard is $13, and Spotify is $10.
According to an official tweet, the service will enter 'General Availability,' which seems to suggest that it'll be available in more regions, though at the time of writing these regions aren't specified anywhere. Meanwhile, if you already have a subscription and your billing day is approaching, you'll still pay the introductory rate.

WoW won't be making any big changes to Shadowlands' contentious Covenants system before launch
https://www.pcgamer.com/wow-wont-be-making-any-big-changes-to-shadowlands-contentious-covenants-system-before-launch/
In the months leading up to World of Warcraft: Shadowlands' October 26 release, players have continued to argue over one particularly contentious feature. Beta players can join one of four Covenants in exchange for unique powerful abilities and other perks, like exclusive endgame activities. Though the issue is complex, the overarching fear is that Covenants won't be balanced and players will be forced to choose whichever is deemed most powerful by the meta instead of whichever one they think is coolest. After months of debating and listening to feedback, game director Ion Hazzikostas announced today that the feature won't be getting any major changes before Shadowlands releases.

Skull & Bones isn't dead, but we won't see more until next year
https://www.pcgamer.com/skull-and-bones-isnt-dead-but-we-wont-see-more-until-next-year/
Ubisoft revealed Skull & Bones way back in 2017 and it's been floating around in purgatory ever since. Originally due out in 2018, it was pushed to 2019, then 2020 and now the vague future. But it's still happening, apparently, with a "new vision" that we'll have to wait until next year to hear about.
Spacebase Startopia has been delayed until 2021
https://www.pcgamer.com/spacebase-startopia-has-been-delayed-until-2021/
Just over a month out from its launch date, nostalgic space station sim Spacebase Startopia has been delayed and won't be appearing on October 23.
This could be a result of beta feedback. The closed beta kicked off in July for anyone who preordered the game. Kalypso Media and Realmforge Studios haven't mentioned any specifics, just that it needs more polish and won't be appearing until spring next year.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has been spotted on Uplay

Ubisoft just cannot seem to keep a lid on its announcements, and today we've got another leak. This time, it's for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, the existence of which had already leaked, but now we've got some slightly goofy screenshots.
>> If those screenshots are anything to go by, it looks more like a remaster than a remake.

Rather than extending Conan Exiles' existing territory, Spitah is a separate new island where players will start fresh. If you haven't played the Conan the Barbarian-themed survival game, the expansion presents an opportunity to take part in the initial exploration of a map that's "engulfed in magical storms."

vivster said: The 1050ti seems to handle it pretty well. Careful, really dim room, therefore terrible picture. Also bad perspective, the TV is far away, it's actually 4 times as big as the monitor. Before this week I did not actually have a side monitor, so this is new. And it's also incredibly useful. Spoiler!

They better look different. One is the cheapest 4k monitor you can buy and the other is the best OLED TV panel that exists.

I love my Pioneer Plasma (Rip their tv division after they made the best tv). Oled gives me hope but they still have same issues as Plasma like burn in.
Time to enable the good old Screen Saver.

Yea i like that Netflix feature where if i leave the screen on main menu. It goes in screen saver in 5 mins. Not sure Prime Video has that.
On my plasma, there is some orbiter thing too which i leave enabled. Refreshes the picture behind the scene even if it is static.
The new OLEDs have tons of techniques for reducing burn in. Like lowering brightness just for static images, pixel refreshes, screensaver etc. For example when there is no motion on my screen for a while the picture gets darker. Even though I'm using it mostly as a desktop I do not expect any burn in anytime soon. And if it has noticeable burn in in 4 years it's time to get a new TV anyway. By then we'll have affordable micro LEDs.
