Over the past years I've been bruised plenty by fist sized pixels so it's absolutely time for an upgrade, especially when I plan to game on a 65" tv. I can easily stomach 90fps on games that aren't Rocket League and the 3090 should be plenty good for that.

Valve clarifies rule against using Steam to promote games on other storefronts
https://www.pcgamer.com/valve-clarifies-rule-against-using-steam-to-promote-games-on-other-storefronts/
It recently came to light that an update to the Steamworks Community FAQ forbids developers from using Steam's Community Hub to promote non-Steam versions of their games. It's not something that happens a lot, but it does happen, especially with the advent of the Epic Games Store: As we noted in December 2018, for instance, Unknown Worlds was using the Subnautica Steam page to support the game (and thus, arguably, promote it) on the Epic Games Store, because EGS doesn't have forums.
The FAQ would seem to close the door on that sort of activity in the future. "In the game you ship via Steam, and in communications on Steam, you may only promote the Steam version and its availability via Steam, and not other distribution outlets," it says. "This applies both to full versions of your game and to content patches that change the existing version."
The language is broad, and some users read it as forbidding not just announcements of releases and updates on other storefronts, but also things like unofficial patches released off of Steam. Today, however, Valve issued a statement clarifying that the policy isn't actually new at all, and that the FAQ was updated simply to ensure that developers are fully informed.

MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS

Final Fantasy IX Remaster Moguri is a must-have mod, Version 8.2 available for download
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/final-fantasy-ix-remaster-moguri-is-a-must-have-mod-version-8-2-available-for-download/
Modder ‘snouz’ has released a new version of the amazing Final Fantasy IX fan remaster project, Moguri. Version 8.2 adds 170 backgrounds and can now display all of them in full when using widescreen resolutions. It also resolves micro-scrolling on 54 screens that are 8px larger than a 16/9 screen.
In addition, Final Fantasy IX Remaster Moguri Version 8.2 brings much better sound quality by default. It also fixes a number of visual inconsistencies, glitches & unfinished upscales.
It’s also worth noting that this latest version comes with a new launcher. Among other things, this launcher resolves some installation problems for assets files.

Simon’s Quest Rebitten is a free fan remake of Castlevania 2 for the PC
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/simons-quest-rebitten-is-a-free-fan-remake-of-castlevania-2-for-the-pc/
Edward Findlay has released a free fan remake of Konami’s Castlevania 2 on the PC, called Simon’s Quest Rebitten. This remake comes with native controls for the PC, as well as some improvements. For instance, it features a day/night cycle and boss fights.
Now what’s really cool here is that Findlay has created various remakes for other classic NES games. For instance, you can download a remake of Ninja Gaiden, as well as a remake for Splatterhouse 4.
Additionally, you can find a remaster of Faxanadu. This remake is also three times longer than the original game, so make sure to at least give it a go.
You can download all these freeware games from here. Needless to say that even though these are free fan remakes, all of them use copyrighted material. What this ultimately means is that they may be taken down really soon. Thus, we suggest downloading them while you still can.

Reigns developer reveals a new game about cheating at cards in 18th century France
https://www.pcgamer.com/reigns-developer-reveals-a-new-game-about-cheating-at-cards-in-18th-century-france/
Reigns is a simple but very entertaining game about ruling a medieval kingdom by swiping left or right, Tinder-like, on digital cards that represent daily decisions. Success is often a matter of luck, but "apt decision-making" is a big factor too, and unexpected outcomes are all a part of the fun.
After two follow-ups—Reigns: Her Majesty, and the licensed Reigns: Game of Thrones—developer Nerial announced today that it's working on something a little different. Cards are still involved, but instead of swiping them, you're cheating at them: Card Shark is a game about hustling your way to the top in 18th century France.

The release was teased together with the Switch version, which will support crossplay, as well as a shiny, animated launch trailer.

The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe has been delayed again
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-stanley-parable-ultra-deluxe-has-been-delayed-again/
An upgraded version of The Stanley Parable, fittingly named The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, promised players more choices (or lack thereof, depending on how you want to look at it) and new endings, to be released in 2019. When the end of 2019 rolled around, developers Crows Crows Crows and Galactic Cafe released the delay announcement to end all delay announcements, moving The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe to "2020, to sometimes probably before summer, but it sort of depends on the specifics of how development goes".

I bought my Oculus Rift before the buyout and I regret. I'll probably keep it couple years and move onto Vive. Fuck that noise.. Not giving away any more of my personal data away. Google already has that covered :P

Move on to Vive? You know that there are much better VR headsets out there (Valve Index) or coming soon (Reverb G2)?

Yeah I've been out of the loop with VR headsets. I won't buy either one as its $1000+ lol I'll wait for a cheaper more mainstream model.

It's a typo. It actually means $1398 which is 21 as the sum of all digits.

Reverb G2 pre-order: $599

https://www8.hp.com/us/en/vr/reverb-g2-vr-headset.html

Best image quality, no screen door effect anymore, the same speaker-headphones as the Valve Index, inside-out tracking (no setting up external sensors anymore, still "good enough" tracking for most people).
