Here come some good and bad news/rumors:

AMD Ryzen 4000H series capped to PCIe 3.0 x8, limiting high-end GPU options
https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-ryzen-4000h-series-capped-to-pcie-3-0-x8-limiting-high-end-gpu-options
Igor Wallosek has shared a new block diagram for the Ryzen 4000H and U series platform codenamed Renoir FP6. The diagram reveals the sad truth about PCI-Express interface bandwidth limitation. This could be the main reason why notebooks makers have avoided pairing high-performance Ryzen 4000 CPUs with more powerful graphics.

>>And that's with competition! What would they do without Intel? That's exacyly why we need both of them doing their best.

I think the PCIe x8 is simply due to the chip's mobile origins. Bristol Ridge, Raven Ridge and Picasso all only had PCIe x8 to cut down the size of the chips since their main usage is mobile. And it's 64GBit/s should still be enough for bigger GPUs, especially the Max-Q variants.

Of course, considering how powerful the CPU is, it's a bit of a bummer, especially for their Desktop counterparts. So I hope they go bigger next time - though the jump the PCIe 4 will already help a lot even if it stays at x8.

For myself, it doesn't change too much, I'm only interested into a 4600G for a light gaming PC (for my wife) which would get transplanted later on into a home server.

The desktop parts aren't affected by this limitation, they get 24 PCIe lanes, 16 of them for the graphics card.

Rumor: NVIDIA is interested in purchasing ARM
https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/rumor-nvidia-is-interested-in-purchasing-arm.html
Nvidia is said to be interested in obtaining chip designer Arm. That is what sources involved in this say to financial news agency Bloomberg. Last week it was revealed that SoftBank, the current owner of Arm, would be considering a sale.

(...)

A takeover of Arm will be watched by numerous authorities as many companies depend on its technology. An acquisition of Arm by Nvidia will mean a shift in the market and increase Nvidia's chances of growing in different markets.

Not sure if they will be allowed to, considering they are making their own designs out of the chips and countless others do so, too. This would certainly be a red flag for many companies as they could not be sure anymore they would get the same level of hardware than one of their competitors does, namely NVidia with their Tegra chips.

Nvidia has moved its Tegra business towards AI and self-driving cars. I'm not sure if adquiring ARM would have a big impact on the mobile business. But, as you said, it's a big deal that could affect lots of business and, therefore, it will be watched very closely.

I personally liked it but there wasn't much gameplay. Halo looked worse than I expected though visually but gameplay wise looked good. Everwilds, Avowed and Fable are the ones I m looking forward to.

Watched the conference now. Some cool stuff in there.

Everwild looks like it's gonna be the WiLD that never happened, certainly gonna check it out.
Tell Me Why is gonna be a great game to watch a Let's Play off.
Avowed can really only be better than any TES game, so I'm certainly pumped.
Psychonauts 2 could be really not terrible.
The Gunk could be nice.
The Medium is another great game to watch others play.
Fable is certainly worth a look.

If I didn't have a PC I'd buy an Xbox instead of a PS5 at launch.

After that conference I think I'm still good with my GTX 1070 for a good while xP

Still gonna upgrade this year though lol.

The conference actually looked pretty neat in 4k. Can't way to get my new OLED TV to experience all of the new gen games in all their glory.

Goodbye Intel, nice knowing you...

Intel just released an earnings guidance, and in that one they said that 7nm production is 6 months behind, and yields even a full year behind their plans, meaning that their 7nm chips won't come out before late 2022 earliest, with 2023 being more realistic.

Alder Lake will also only come out in 2H of 2021, si Intel's x86 big.LITTLE experiment will run head-on against Zen 4 and probably won't stand much chance there.

Ponte Vecchio,Intel's 7nm GPU for their Exascale Supercomputer, will also get delayed, and with it the computer as a whole. Intel now tries to get the production of those chiplets done in external fabs to stay at least with those halfway on track.

Even though sales were strong in the passing quarter, investors were troubled enough for a massive selloff, sending Intel shares down by 10%. Income and revenue rose by about 20% YoY, but that wasn't enough to dispell the fears of the shareholders.
