The latest benchmarks come straight from ITCooker (via https://hk.xfastest.com/60984/">Xfastest HK unit) where the processor was tested for its multitasking capabilities.

The benchmarks come just a few days after ITCooker posted the first pictures of the Ryzen 7 4700G APU along with CPU-z screenshots over at his Facebook profile.

The performance of the chip is reported within the Cinebench R20 and Cinebench R15 multi-core tests. The platform used was the ASRock B550 Taichi with 16 GB of DDR4 memory. In Cinebench R20, the CPU scores 5102 points while in Cinebench R15, the CPU scores 2168 points. Both tests were carried out in multi-core scenarios.

Comparing the score with existing Ryzen CPUs, we see that the Ryzen 7 4700G is matching the performance of the Ryzen 7 3800X which scores around 5000 points in Cinebench R20 & 2100 points within the Cinebench R15 benchmark. The Ryzen 7 3800X is an 8 core & 16 thread part which has a TDP configured at 95W whereas the Ryzen 7 4700G is an 8 core & 16 thread part, configured at 65W. This is truly impressive of the Ryzen 4000 Renoir APU lineup.

Word on the vine is that NVIDIA is planning to fabricate the next generation RTX 3000 Ampere GPUs on Samsung's 8nm process. This would be somewhat unexpected as NVIDIA's announcement for Ampere has previously stated that they will be using the 7nm TSMC process. The leaker in question, however, has an excellent track record for RTX 3000 series leaks and had the die configurations down pat months before anyone else. This is why even though I am tagging this as a rumor simply because of the sheer contrarian nature of this article; let's just say I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be true.

That could mean that the GA100, the enterprise chips, could be made by TSMC's 7nm while the consumer parts like the GA102 would be made with Samsung's 8nm.

Too bad about 3000 series not being 7nm but as with a lot of Nvidia gpus in the past, they have had great performance even with being a node or two behind. Hopefully they will continue that trend.

Here's a comparison that I wanted to see as I am in the market for buying an ultrabook for work that can play games from time to time. The new XPS 17 with a 2060 Max Q vs Macbook Pro 16 with the $700 5600M upgrade. The 5600M does come with 40CUs clocked at around 1ghz and HBM2 so I was pretty interested to see how it performs even with the terrible upgrade pricing.

Spoiler: XPS beats the Macbook pro 16 in both CPU and GPU performance. The CPU is a 10th gen 8 core vs 9th gen 8 core however. Oh and the XPS costs a lot $2,850 vs Macbook Pro costs $3,499!
