SALES & DEALS

My Friend Pedro sold 250,000 copies in its first week
https://www.pcgamer.com/my-friend-pedro-sold-250000-copies-in-its-first-week/
My Friend Pedro, a 2D bullet-time score-attack action-platformer, is almost entirely the work of one developer: Victor Ågren, aka DeadToast Entertainment. Publisher Devolver Digital recently announced that his game sold 250,000 units in its first week (across both PC and Switch), so Victor's probably pretty happy about that.
To celebrate, Devolver have put together a charming video about Victor and the four-and-a-half year journey of My Friend Pedro, which began as a Flash game made for a student project, was put on the backburner when Victor got a job at MediaMolecule, and finally came out this year. Watch the whole thing embedded above.

Farming Simulator 19 sold over two million copies
https://www.pcgamer.com/farming-simulator-19-sold-over-two-million-copies/
French publisher Focus Home Interactive has released its yearly earnings, and clearly had a good 12 months, racking up $US143 million in the last fiscal year. Their biggest hit has been Farming Simulator 19, with over two million copies sold. As we reported at the start of the year, developer Giants Software launched an esports league with a €250,000 prize pool and its grand final will take place FarmCon 20. Baling hay is big business.
Vampyr, Dontnod's original but also slightly janky Victorian-era RPG, also did well with over a million copies sold. Dontnod has renewed its contract with Focus Home Interactive, and there's apparently a Vampyr TV show in the works too.

GOG's weekly sale, Created with Passion, brings up to 90% discounts on more than 300 games.

https://www.dsogaming.com/news/fans-resurrect-super-mario-bros-royale-as-a-free-open-source-project-available-to-play/
Two weeks ago, we informed you about a free fan Battle Royale game based on Nintendo’s classic 8-bit Super Mario Bros game. Nintendo was quick to react and took it down a week later and even though its creator made some adjustments to avoid any future copyright claim, Nintendo kept shutting it down. This act forced a few fans of the game to resurrect the original version and release it as a free open-source project.

Depths of Skyrim gives the sea a much-needed makeover
https://www.pcgamer.com/depths-of-skyrim-gives-the-sea-a-much-needed-makeover/
I've spent hundreds of hours exploring Skyrim across countless saves and multiple editions, and not surprisingly I've been on dry land for most of it. Skyrim's ocean is murky and full of unfriendly fish. Of my many downloaded mods, only a couple affect water, and then only the surface, but Depths of Skyrim, uploaded last week, changes a great deal more.
Depths of Skyrim is an underwater overhaul that gives the game's damp areas the same sort of attention that's been lavished upon its mountains and forests. No more diving off the coast just to discover some weeds and a slaughterfish waiting to snap at you until you flee back to shore.

Co-op horror game The Blackout Club emerges from Early Access in July
https://www.pcgamer.com/co-op-horror-game-the-blackout-club-emerges-from-early-access-in-july/
The co-op horror game The Blackout Club, about a group of kids investigating a horrific mystery in their spooky neighborhood, made a big impression when we looked at it last year, just ahead of its October 2018 launch on Steam Early Access: James called it "a legitimately terrifying cooperative game where the horror emerges from clever systems and enemies designed to ratchet up the tension using the same clear, unrelenting logic of the best movie monsters."

Apex Legends Season 2 challenges won't 'require a YouTube tutorial to figure out'
https://www.pcgamer.com/apex-legends-season-2-challenges-wont-require-a-youtube-tutorial-to-figure-out/
Apex Legends' Season 1 battle pass took some heat for being relatively unexciting. Instead of offering players rewards for accomplishing specific tasks, it was all about participation: Play the game, get the stuff, have a nice day. Respawn said in May that Season 2 will feature a more complex battle pass with daily and weekly challenges, and today lead producer manager Lee Horn explained exactly how they'll work.

Teamfight Tactics server troubles appear to be fixed
https://www.pcgamer.com/teamfight-tactics-server-troubles-appear-to-be-fixed-regional-rollouts-will-continue-tonight/
The good news for Riot's Auto Chess-alike Teamfight Tactics is that it's "super fun" and people really seem to enjoy playing it. The bad news is that its popularity is most obviously reflected right now in the way that servers are struggling to keep up with demand. Queue times are huge, and a load-induced problem that cropped up in the EU West region forced a delay in rolling the game out to other regions.

Strategic BioShock-y shooter Void Bastards is getting a free challenge mode alongside DLC that will add a new organization, a new weapon and new ships.
The challenge mode will stick you in difficult scenarios, such as "stealthing your way past super tough enemies, being forced to rely on amped up authorisation skills to take over ship systems and managing a super fast but hard to control client", developer Blue Manchu said in a Steam post. It's still "ironing out the details", and we don't yet know when it will launch.

The makers of Ion Maiden will have something big to announce on July 11
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-makers-of-ion-maiden-will-have-something-big-to-announce-on-july-11/
We've been eagerly awaiting Ion Maiden, the retro shooter made in Duke Nukem 3D's old Build Engine, for over a year now.
Now Voidpoint and 3D Realms are teasing something Ion Maiden-related on Twitter, saying there's an announcement coming and "You don't want to miss this!" Yes, this is probably an announcement for an announcement but we're pretty hyped for this game, OK? Whether it's a release date (it is "almost done" according to Frederik Schreiber, VP of 3D Realms) or an agreement being reached with the band Iron Maiden in the legal dispute over its name, we'll just have to wait and see.

https://www.pcgamer.com/heroes-of-the-storm-arrived-too-late-says-blizzard-co-founder/
Heroes of the Storm, Blizzard's all-star MOBA, hasn't been looking too healthy lately. At the end of 2018, Blizzard announced that it was scaling back support, moving developers off the game and killing its competitive league. It perseveres and continues to be updated, however, but it does feel like it's winding down.

Green Hell, the intense survival simulator set in the Amazon jungle, will launch out of Early Access on September 5. The game's been in Early Access for nearly a year, and currently boasts a 'Very Positive' rating on Steam. Chris played it in October, and became so enraged that he punched an armadillo (in the game, not in real life). Becoming enraged is, of course, par for the course in survival games, so it bodes well.

Steel Circus is a free-to-play future sport coming to Early Access in August

I only care about future sports—give me neon and robots and a reckless disregard for health and safety regulations. Steel Circus appears to have all of that. It's a sci-fi sport that tosses two teams of three into an arena to duke it out and score some goals all in an effort to maintain peace throughout the solar system. Noble! It's coming to Steam Early Access next month, but first you can watch the launch cinematic above.

Poop on everything in Pigeon Simulator

After revealing the secrets of goats and bread, the physics wizards at Bossa Studios are now shining the spotlight on the true master of Earth's cities: the mighty pigeon. Like Goat Simulator, Pigeon Simulator looks like another sandbox where mayhem is the goal, and as you can see in the announcement trailer above, pigeons are pretty skilled at sowing chaos.
>> Will the poo look white on black cars and black on white cars like in real life?

Certainly takes the wind out of Navi, interestingly we didn't see 16Gbps GDDR6 on any of the new GPU's either which was heavily rumoured.

Knowing nVidia, these Super versions were probably what they could've launched in the first place as 20xx, they just decided to keep them for this very situation and milk the market in the meantime with original, cheaper to produce versions.
