https://www.pcgamer.com/co-op-horror-game-the-blackout-club-emerges-from-early-access-in-july/
The co-op horror game The Blackout Club, about a group of kids investigating a horrific mystery in their spooky neighborhood, made a big impression when we looked at it last year, just ahead of its October 2018 launch on Steam Early Access: James called it "a legitimately terrifying cooperative game where the horror emerges from clever systems and enemies designed to ratchet up the tension using the same clear, unrelenting logic of the best movie monsters."

Apex Legends Season 2 challenges won't 'require a YouTube tutorial to figure out'
https://www.pcgamer.com/apex-legends-season-2-challenges-wont-require-a-youtube-tutorial-to-figure-out/
Apex Legends' Season 1 battle pass took some heat for being relatively unexciting. Instead of offering players rewards for accomplishing specific tasks, it was all about participation: Play the game, get the stuff, have a nice day. Respawn said in May that Season 2 will feature a more complex battle pass with daily and weekly challenges, and today lead producer manager Lee Horn explained exactly how they'll work.

Teamfight Tactics server troubles appear to be fixed
https://www.pcgamer.com/teamfight-tactics-server-troubles-appear-to-be-fixed-regional-rollouts-will-continue-tonight/
The good news for Riot's Auto Chess-alike Teamfight Tactics is that it's "super fun" and people really seem to enjoy playing it. The bad news is that its popularity is most obviously reflected right now in the way that servers are struggling to keep up with demand. Queue times are huge, and a load-induced problem that cropped up in the EU West region forced a delay in rolling the game out to other regions.

Rime developer Tequila Works' next game, a singeplayer puzzler called Gylt, was announced earlier this month as a Google Stadia exclusive—you can watch the trailer here. But its Stadia exclusivity is now in doubt after the studio's creative director Raúl Rubio Munárriz brushed off questions about the streaming service and said that "everyone" will be able to play Gylt.

https://www.pcgamer.com/final-fantasy-14-ddos-attack-is-over-but-server-problems-remain/
The early access launch of MMO Final Fantasy 14's Shadowbringers expansion yesterday was marred by a DDoS attack that disrupted servers across North America. The attack has now been resolved, but a high player count is now causing "extended waiting times" when you try to log in.

The PC version of Halo: Reach will not include the Forge level editor or the Theater replay modes at launch, the development team for Halo: The Master Chief Collection has confirmed. 343 Industries doesn't know how long it will take to get them ready for PC, but it will likely be "a very lengthy amount of time".

https://www.pcgamer.com/void-bastards-devs-reveal-free-challenge-mode-and-paid-nemesis-dlc/
Strategic BioShock-y shooter Void Bastards is getting a free challenge mode alongside DLC that will add a new organization, a new weapon and new ships.
The challenge mode will stick you in difficult scenarios, such as "stealthing your way past super tough enemies, being forced to rely on amped up authorisation skills to take over ship systems and managing a super fast but hard to control client", developer Blue Manchu said in a Steam post. It's still "ironing out the details", and we don't yet know when it will launch.

https://www.pcgamer.com/reports-blizzard-planning-overwatch-league-role-lock-to-blow-up-goats-meta/

The makers of Ion Maiden will have something big to announce on July 11
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-makers-of-ion-maiden-will-have-something-big-to-announce-on-july-11/
We've been eagerly awaiting Ion Maiden, the retro shooter made in Duke Nukem 3D's old Build Engine, for over a year now.
Now Voidpoint and 3D Realms are teasing something Ion Maiden-related on Twitter, saying there's an announcement coming and "You don't want to miss this!" Yes, this is probably an announcement for an announcement but we're pretty hyped for this game, OK? Whether it's a release date (it is "almost done" according to Frederik Schreiber, VP of 3D Realms) or an agreement being reached with the band Iron Maiden in the legal dispute over its name, we'll just have to wait and see.

Heroes of the Storm arrived too late, says Blizzard co-founder
https://www.pcgamer.com/heroes-of-the-storm-arrived-too-late-says-blizzard-co-founder/
Heroes of the Storm, Blizzard's all-star MOBA, hasn't been looking too healthy lately. At the end of 2018, Blizzard announced that it was scaling back support, moving developers off the game and killing its competitive league. It perseveres and continues to be updated, however, but it does feel like it's winding down.

https://www.pcgamer.com/former-paradox-interactive-ceo-calls-7030-revenue-split-outrageous/
Paradox Interactive's former CEO and current executive chairman, Fredrik Wester, called the 70/30 revenue split used by platform holders like Valve "outrageous" at a Gamelab panel on Epic's revenue model last week. "I think the platform holders are taking too much money," he said.
