Quake Xmas Jam 2018 adds 21 new maps to id Software’s classic shooter, available for download
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/quake-xmas-jam-2018-adds-21-new-maps-to-id-softwares-classic-shooter-available-for-download/
Christmas is almost upon us and a team of mappers has released a new pack that adds 21 new maps to id Software’s classic shooter, Quake. From the looks of it, this pack does not add any new weapons or monsters; it features everything that was present in the original Quake.
dumptruck_ds recommends using the Quakespasm or Mark V engines in order to play this pack (obviously you’ll also need the original Quake wad). Those interested in the classic, pixelated visuals can use the console command “gl_texturemode 3”.

Fallout 76 mod adds proximity text chat
https://www.pcgamer.com/fallout-76-mod-adds-proximity-text-chat/
Fallout 76 shipped with a number of absent features, and one of the biggest misses Bethesda made was not including text chat. The lack of this extremely standard multiplayer feature means players can only communicate with mics and emotes, which is a major problem for players who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as for those who simply don't want to play with open mics. While Bethesda told me it is "looking into" adding text chat in the future, there has been no further mention of it in its roadmaps or future patch outlines.
One modder decided not to wait. The Proximity Text Chat mod, created by Liyalai, adds a local text chat feature to Fallout 76. The mod says it allows players to type and send messages to one another at a range of 100 in-game meters, slightly further than the distance at which you're able to read a player's nametag. Any player you wish to text chat with will also need to have the mod installed, and if they do, you will see their nametag in blue.

https://www.dsogaming.com/news/world-war-z-official-pc-system-requirements/
Saber Interactive has released the official PC system requirements for World War Z. According to the specs, PC gamers will at least need an Intel i5-750 or an Intel i3-530 or an AMD Phenon II X4-810 with 8GB of RAM and an AMD R7 240 or an Nvidia GeForce GT 730.
(...)
It’s also worth mentioning that Saber Interactive revealed that the game will be coming to Epic’s digital store. The team did not clarify whether the game will also come out on Steam or whether it will be exclusive to Epic’s store.
>> The article on PCGamer says that "The Steam logo has been removed from the WWZ website, which now just says that it's being released on PC." , meaning that this could be another case of a game ditching Steam for the Epic Store.

Rainbow Six Siege autobans are being replaced with manual moderation
https://www.pcgamer.com/rainbow-six-siege-autobans-are-being-replaced-with-manual-moderation/
Earlier this summer, Ubisoft implemented an autoban system in Rainbow Six Siege that hit players with an automatic timeout (or permanent ban for repeat offenders) for dropping racist or homophobic slurs in chat. Brand director Alexandre Remy said a couple of months later that Ubi had "no regrets" about banning toxic players, but added that the feature would "evolve … to be a little more flexible" in the future.
In a blog post released today, Ubisoft laid out the next step in that evolution: A chat filter that will flag potentially offending messages for review and prevent them from being broadcast, but will not automatically impose timeouts or permabans.

Junkrat Krampus is coming to the Overwatch Winter Wonderland
https://www.pcgamer.com/junkrat-krampus-is-coming-to-the-overwatch-winter-wonderland/
The Overwatch Winter Wonderland event comes down the chimney tomorrow, December 11, which means we've got just enough time left to squeeze in one final legendary skin tease before it happens. And for that very special, last-chance occasion, Blizzard has given us... Junkrat Krampus!

GTA Online's Arena War update brings stadium-based vehicle combat
https://www.pcgamer.com/gta-onlines-arena-war-update-brings-stadium-based-vehicle-combat/
I feared GTA Online would die a slow death with the arrival of Red Dead Redemption 2's multiplayer mode on consoles, but it doesn't look like that's going to be the case just yet. Today, GTA gets the Arena War update, where players battle with custom vehicles inside the long-dormant Maze Bank Arena. Arena War will encompass seven new modes.

Fortnite's Infinity Blade is a mythical sword that kills in one blow
https://www.pcgamer.com/swords-are-coming-to-fortnite/
Update: The sword Epic teased last night is the Infinity Blade, the titular weapon from the developer's mobile game, and you'll be able to get your hands on it today. It's a mythic sword only found on Polar Peak and only one will appear per match.

The Forest's free update adds hang gliders, crossbows and more monsters
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-forests-free-update-adds-hang-gliders-crossbows-and-more-monsters/
I haven’t finished The Forest yet because, frankly, I’m too damn scared. I’m not particularly comfortable in regular forests at night, let alone ones containing mutated cannibals and labyrinthine cave networks full of mutilated corpses. And now, thanks to the 1.10 update, there are two new horrifying monsters presumably waiting to snack on me.

Yes.
Yes-yes-yes!

I hope you've also read the update at the bottom of that article:

Update: Don't get too excited: Valve says the Easter egg was just "a bit of fun."

I didn't see that...
Oh well, at least Valve is going above and beyond.
