There's a full text adventure game hiding in Google.com's source code
https://www.pcgamer.com/theres-a-full-text-adventure-game-hiding-in-googlecoms-source-code/
There's a text adventure game hiding in the source code of Google Chrome.
It's not clear how long the game's been sat there, waiting to be discovered, but confirmation of the game popped up on Reddit a few days ago courtesy of u/attempt_number_1.
To get involved, open Google Chrome, and search "text adventure" (ensuring you're on google.com and not google.co.uk etc.) Hit Ctrl+Shift+I—or CMD+option+I on Mac—and "Would you like to play a game? (yes/no)" will be revealed on the console.

Over 170 more games have been removed from Steam in recent weeks
https://www.pcgamer.com/over-170-more-games-have-been-removed-from-steam-in-recent-weeks/
Early in September a post on the Steam blog clarified what they meant when they said they'd still be removing games for "straight up trolling" even in the era of their new, anything-goes approach to curation.
In the weeks since then, they've removed a bunch of game-shaped objects. In the last two weeks I count 179 gone, although that includes some released as separate episodes as well as others that seem to be straight reskins listed with different names. I don't think anybody's going to be mourning the loss of games like MILF, Make Border Great Again!, Hentai Puzzle, Hentai Sokoban, or Hentai 2048. I guess a few people might miss the Achievement Hunter series because the icons for the achievements they handed out like candy were designed so you could spell things out on your Steam profile with them.

MODS/EMULATORS

Blue Dragon, Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST and more running on the PC via the Xenia emulator
https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/blue-dragon-metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-halo-3-halo-3-odst-and-more-running-on-the-pc-via-the-xenia-emulator/
It appears that the team behind the best Xbox 360 emulator, Xenia, has made incredible progress lately. YouTube’s ‘Emulators for PC’ has shared some videos from its latest version, showing Blue Dragon, Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST and more running on the PC via this emulator.
Emulators for PC used an Intel Xeon e3-1240 V2 @ 3.6 GHz with 8GB of DDR3-1866MHz RAM and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050ti. Obviously, a Xeon CPU is not powerful enough to run this emulator so don’t get discouraged by the framerates your are about to see in these videos.

1337d00m lets you experience the classic Doom in true “The Matrix” ASCII mode in Unity Engine
https://www.dsogaming.com/articles/1337d00m-lets-you-experience-the-classic-doom-in-true-the-matrix-ascii-mode-in-unity-engine/
I still consider The Matrix trilogy one of the best trilogies to date. Sure thing, some hate the second movie but if you have any idea of how PCs work – in other words if you are neeeeeeeeeeerds – you can easily understand what The Architect says (which mind you makes perfect sense) and the role of The One in this whole thing.
But anyway, one of the coolest things in the first movie was at the end when Neo was able to see the code of the agents and the surroundings inside the Matrix. And Dario-Zubovic has released a port of the first Doom game that lets you experience it in pure ASCII mode.
As the modder noted, 1337d00m is a hacker’s version of the original DOOM that presents everything in ASCII code. All monsters, environments, weapons and projectiles are in ASCII, giving the game a different look. And you know what? It’s actually pretty cool.

Dark Souls 3 mod finally adds proper keyboard on-screen prompts/icons (Work In Progress)
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/dark-souls-3-mod-finally-adds-proper-keyboard-on-screen-prompts-icons-work-in-progress/
My biggest annoyance with Dark Souls 3, as I wrote in our PC Performance Analysis, was the complete lack of proper keyboard on-screen indicators. (...) So I’m happy to report today that a mod is currently under development that will address this issue.
Created by modder ‘kelester’, this mod for Dark Souls 3 changes the icons for the PC version. However, this mod is not complete yet. For example, there are some issues with currency of letters (the game shows Roll as “Q” for example) and some icons have not been changed yet. After all, and as the title, suggests, this is a WIP mod.

Skyrim 3D Trees and Plants mod version 3.4.0 available for download, aiming to offer next-generation forests
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/skyrim-3d-trees-and-plants-mod-version-3-4-0-available-for-download-aiming-to-offer-next-generation-forests/
Modder ‘mathy79’ has released a new version of the Skyrim 3D Trees and Plants mod. In case you weren’t aware of, Skyrim 3D Trees and Plants aims to offer the most realistic forests and comes with more than 200 High Quality 3D replacer models for the Skyrim trees and plants, as well as high quality sharp lightweight texturing.
Version 3.4.0 adds new trees and plants, re-exports 22 diffuse textures in dxt1 in order to reduce overall VRAM usage, uv-maps all 3d snow models from scratch in order to reduce drawcall times, and features various plants and trees placement and scaling correction.

You can now play Doom 3 in third-person mode with the HUD enabled
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/you-can-now-play-doom-3-in-third-person-mode-with-the-hud-enabled/
Modder ‘MoDFaNGuy’ has released a new version of his Classic RBDOOM 3 BFG Edition mod, allowing players to experience this horror part in the Doom series in third-person mode. In case you weren’t aware of, Classic RBDOOM 3 BFG Edition is a mod that updates the executable of the original RBDOOM 3 BFG (used in DOOM 3 BFG Hi Def and UltimateHD) and unlocks missing features and improve the classic DOOM engine.
Now while it was possible to play the game in third-person from the very start – as a command line basically enables it – its HUD was never functional in this unofficial viewpoint. Thankfully, MoDFaNGuy was able to enable it and now you can play with a proper third-person mode.

DaggerHell Overkill is a mod for Doom 2 inspired by Devil Daggers, available for download
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/daggerhell-overkill-is-a-mod-for-doom-2-inspired-by-devil-daggers-available-for-download/
Modder ‘mindlord_17’ has released a new version of his DaggerHell mod for Doom 2 that is heavily inspired by 2016’s arena shooter, Devil Daggers. DaggerHell is mainly a gameplay mod and replaces the 9 classic weapons with a sword (replaces chainsaw), and a magic hand with several types of attack.
The latest version of this mod is called DaggerHell Overkill and in this version the speed of Daggerguy is multiplied, he can jump higher, does a lot more damage, and his daggers sound and look cooler. This mod should be compatible with monster mods that don´t alter gameplay or weapons.
DaggerHell Overkill looks kind of cool and gave me some Hexen vibes. And to be honest, I’d really love to see a new Hexen game. Oh, speaking of Hexen, the fifth episode of AMID EVIL has been released so I strongly suggest checking it out in case you are fans of old-school first-person shooters.

Japanese voice mod released for God Eater: RESURRECTION
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/japanese-voice-mod-released-for-god-eater-resurrection/
Reddit’s member ‘Kuuyo ‘ has released a new mod for God Eater: RESURRECTION that replaces its English voices with Japanese. This mod is based on the Japanese voices that were present in the PSVita release, and it is something that most owners will appreciate.
This mod comes in two files: Cutscenes and Bin Patch. Gamers will have to first download the Cutscenes pack and extract it or copy it over into the base folder. Then they’ll have to download the Bin Patch, extract it to a folder and copy/paste or cut/paste bin.qpck into the same directory (it will make a new .qpck file called new_bin.qpck). You’ll have then to rename this to bin.qpck and place it in the base God Eater RESURRECTION folder (SteamsteamappscommonGOD EATER RESURRECTION).

Dragon Quest XI – First nude mods released for Jade and Serena
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/dragon-quest-xi-first-nude-mods-released-for-jade-and-serena/
It appears that the first nude mods for Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age have just been released. Now before jumping around like crazy little rabbits, know that these are not full nudity mods. Still though, they will make Serena and Jade “naughtier” than before.
The first mod was created by “Illuminate78” and changes Serena’s Dancer Costume to include a Peekaboo Bra. The second mod is a better and more clever one. Created by “black34” it adds see-through bits to Jade’s basic outfit, with a simple Lotus theme to match the elegance provided by the new black lace parts. Thanks to this see-through outfit, and depending on the scene/lighting, her “private parts” can be either fully or barely visible.

>>It was bound to happen, too bad you've already finished it, viv. Anyway, the mods need the Kaldaien’s Special K mod for Dragon Quest XI and you'll need to find them at Nexus Mods.

Set the Predator loose in GTA 5 with JulioNIB's next mod script

The Predator, star of one great, one decent, and many not-so-good Predator films—not to mention a ton of video games and comic books—is the latest addition to the already bursting portfolio of GTA scripter JulioNIB. And Preds (as his friends call him) is a perfect fit for Los Santos. The alien hunter traditionally only stalks prey that pose a threat by carrying weapons, and where are you going to find more people packing iron than in Los Santos?
The script is currently a work in progress, and there are a few more videos of it on JulioNIB's Patreon page. Subscribers get first licks at his mods, so consider pitching in if you're a fan.

Party Hard is a 2015 stealth-action game about noisy neighbors and what happens to them after they ignore your requests to tone it down at 3 am. Party Hard 2 is built around a slightly different premise—you've been fired, so it's time to crash the company party—but the underlying mechanics are essentially the same: Get inside and kill as many people as you can, in whatever ways possible.

Valve changes Artifact card name to avoid racist connotations
https://www.pcgamer.com/valve-changes-artifact-card-name-to-avoid-racist-connotations/
Valve has been revealing new Artifact cards on its Twitter feed over the past few days, including one called Crack the Whip. "When you play Crack the Whip, it triggers once right after its played," Valve wrote. "If you play an Untested Grunt next to the whipped hero it will trigger again, and the Grunt will receive the bonus."
That's innocuous enough—"cracking the whip" is a fairly common and widely used phrase—but the card text turned it into something altogether different. "Crack the Whip," it says. "Modify a black hero with 'After you play a black card, give this hero and its allied neighbors +2 Attack this round'."

Giants Software has dropped a new teaser trailer demonstrating the "new field interactions" coming to its upcoming farming sim, Farming Simulator 19.
The video shows off the new features available for crops, including liming, weeding, and herbiciding (I think I just made that word up), as well as footage of how your vehicular wheels can destroy your crops in real-time... although given not all vehicles seem to do this in the teaser, it would appear the feature is optional.

Pressed for time? Geneshift's new battle royale mode has two-minute rounds
https://www.pcgamer.com/pressed-for-time-geneshifts-new-battle-royale-mode-has-two-minute-rounds/
GTA-inspired top-down shooter Geneshift was released in 2017, after Ben Johnson spent nearly a decade developing it. Last month Johnson joked on Reddit about making a battle royale mode for Geneshift with rounds that lasted only 20 seconds, and based on the positive response he decided to make it a reality. Ultimately, 20 seconds proved to be a little too quick, so Johnson decided to make the rounds in what he calls 'Battle Royale Turbo' a bit longer: two minutes. You can watch the trailer above.

Musical puzzle game Resynth is out now
https://www.pcgamer.com/musical-puzzle-game-resynth-is-out-now/
Resynth is a Sokoban-style puzzle game from two indie designers who previously worked on the paint-splatting platformer de Blob, which had an excellent jazz/funk soundtrack. Music's important to Resynth too. While you're pushing blocks around there's a white line wiping across the level from left to right. Each time it interacts with an object it plays a beat, so as you move everything into its right place the repeating music of that level gets more complete, until finally the level and the tune achieve harmony.

Last year Holly Nielsen reviewed Diluvion, a game about being captain of a submarine straight out of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (...).
She had some criticisms, particularly for its checkpoints, but also for the UI. Players had plenty of feedback for indie studio Arachnid Games too, and so they spent another year working on an update which they're now ready to launch. Resubmerged is a free update that makes salvaging more dynamic, adds depth to the looting, crew management, and sub upgrading systems, has more ship customization, and "enhanced visuals, new graphics settings, a complete UI overhaul with improved quest tracking and waypoints, the ability to save anywhere, and revamped landmark, navigation and pathfinding systems."

Google unveils game streaming project, tests start soon with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
https://www.pcgamer.com/google-unveils-game-streaming-project-tests-start-soon-with-assassins-creed-odyssey/
The games industry has yet to solve the problem of video-game streaming. The tragedy of OnLive proved just how difficult an issue it is. The combination of a far higher number of inputs and a much lower tolerance for latency makes video-game streaming a far more challenging prospect compared to streaming video.
If anyone has the resources to tackle the problem, however, it’s Google. And that’s precisely what the company is doing, with the announcement of Project Stream.
In a blog post, Google described Project Stream as a “technical test” designed to “solve some of the biggest challenges of streaming.” To do this, Google has partnered with Ubisoft to stream Assassin’s Creed Odyssey via the Google Chrome browser to desktops and laptops.

Version 1.1 increases delay between enemy miracles from altars in the first Japanese land, increases overall performance, fixes some navigation issues in land 9 and updates the loading screens.
Furthermore, this new version adjusts land 4 to have a more “icy” look, fixes AI only building 1 siege weapon sometimes in land 4 and fixes some navigation issues in land 9.

The Witcher writer, Andrzej Sapkowski, demands $16 million from CD Projekt RED
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/the-witcher-writer-andrzej-sapkowski-demands-16-million-from-cd-projekt-red/
It appears that the writer of The Witcher books, Andrzej Sapkowski, is demanding $16 million from CD Projekt RED, beyond what had been contractually agreed upon contract. From the looks of it, Sapkowski never believed that The Witcher games would be such a success and as such, he did not originally agreed for a percentage of CD Projekt RED’s profits. Instead, he sold the rights for a video-game for a fixed sum. However, and now that these games have sold millions, the writer wants a piece of that cake.

Blizzard gets cryptic with year’s Overwatch Halloween Terror Event

Blizzard has teased its upcoming Overwatch Halloween Terror Event, which will commence on October 9th.
The company hasn’t offered full details as to what this year’s event will entail, but it did provide the following cryptic riddle for players to unpick.

Kursk, the first-person adventure about the Russian sub disaster, pushed into November
https://www.pcgamer.com/kursk-the-first-person-adventure-about-russian-sub-disaster-pushed-into-november/
I've been interested in the first-person narrative adventure Kursk ever since it was announced back in mid-2015.
Publisher Jujubee described it as an "adventure-documentary game" when it said in January that it would be out this year, a release target it later refined to October. But today it announced a slight change to that schedule, as Kursk the game is now set to come out on November 7, to coincide with the release of Kursk the film, starring Léa Seydoux, Colin Firth, Matthias Schoenaerts, and Max von Sydow.

Fallout 76 beta release date: everything we know
https://www.pcgamer.com/fallout-76-beta-date/
The Fallout 76 beta test that Bethesda promised at announcement has a release date of October. Everyone who pre-orders the game at a 'participating retailer' will get access to the beta, which is playfully called a B.E.T.A (Break-It Early Test Application). The game is not releasing on Steam at this time, so it'll be playable via Bethesda's own launcher. The bad news is the beta will launch on Xbox One first before it comes to PC, but you'll only have to wait for a week if you're desperate to try it out.

XCOM designer Jake Solomon hints at 'something special' for the sixth anniversary

Believe it or not, it's been six years, almost to the day, since Firaxis very successfully brought back the X-Com sci-fi strategy series with XCOM: Enemy Unknown. In fact, on October 9 it will be six years to the day, and it's possible that the developers might be doing something to celebrate the birthday.

Hour-long documentary looks at the history of Divinity's Larian Studios
https://www.pcgamer.com/hour-long-documentary-looks-at-the-history-of-divinitys-larian-studios/
Larian Studios is a big deal these days for its Divinity: Original Sin RPGs, but as the new hour-long Gameumentary film on YouTube demonstrates, achieving that success was a long and very difficult journey. The documentary goes all the way back to the beginning in the mid-90s, when Atari gave studio founder Swen Vincke and a friend a contract to make an RPG called (if I'm hearing it properly) Ragnarok and Less.

Inside and Limbo dev is reportedly working on a science-fiction project
https://www.pcgamer.com/inside-and-limbo-dev-is-reportedly-working-on-a-science-fiction-project/
Inside creator Playdead is currently working on a science-fiction project, it has been revealed.
Brought to our attention by a Resetera thread, the news was originally reported by the Danish website computerworld.dk, in a long-form interview with Playdead’s founder and director Arnt Jensen, about the history of the studio. During the course of the interview, he revealed that the game Playdead is currently working on is set in a science-fiction universe.

I knew from before Sapkowski is a bit of a dick when it comes to CDPR, but I had no idea he's a bit stupid as well - not only their games made him famous worldwide, although he keeps driveling how he probably lost some of the readership who think his books are game2book adaptations, but he refused to take percent and instead opted for fixed sum, and now he "demands" royalties.

Well, it will be interesting to see if his claims that they only had a deal for the first game are true or not.

I think this would have been a terrible oversight from CDP Red, but anything is possible.

People need to buy Resonance of Fate for PC. One of the greatest JRPGs PC will ever get.

That's a bold claim to make.

If you played the game you would know that it's not bold at all.

No, I haven't played that game. Maybe, one day, I will once it's available on PC.
