GOG Easter egg lets you play Pong and Snake using the Konami code
https://www.pcgamer.com/gog-easter-egg-lets-you-play-pong-and-snake-using-the-konami-code/
GOG has a new (or at least newly uncovered) Easter egg that lets you play Pong and Snake on the site. As the official GOG account explained on Twitter, all you have to do is go to GOG and enter the famous Konami code: up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A. You don't necessarily have to enter the code on the homepage, but I'm not entirely sure which pages do and don't work, so you may as well place it safe. Oh, and be sure to press Start in your head for good measure.

>>I'll have to try it when I get home.

Mojang's Scrolls has a new name, and is now free with player-run servers
https://www.pcgamer.com/mojangs-scrolls-has-a-new-name-and-is-now-free-with-player-run-servers/
Remember Scrolls, Mojang's strategy card game which was hit by a lawsuit from Bethesda? Mojang ended development on the CCG in 2015, but its servers managed to hang on until February of this year. When it finally pulled the plug, Mojang said it hoped to release the game to the public with a modified client that would support user-run servers. Today, the studio did exactly that.

Xenonauts 2 successfully crowdfunded in half a day (Updated)
https://www.pcgamer.com/xenonauts-2-launches-crowdfunding-campaign/
Officially confirmed in early 2016, sci-fi strategy game Xenonauts 2 is now live on Kickstarter. Like its forerunner, it's after £50,000, and, at the time of writing, has already amassed almost two fifths of its goal.
Update: Xenonauts 2's Kickstarter campaign has been successfully funded, several hours after going live. As outlined in our original story below, the project sought £50,000. At the time of writing, its total has reached £67,698—with 29 days left to go.

I forgot about Jurassic World Evolution! Need to go read the reviews.

I've played around with it since launch. Though it looks good and has Frontier behind it, it's honestly not as in depth as JP OG.

It's not going to get mod support due to it "clashing with quality" that the devs are apparently putting focus on, yet we've got small parks, clashing with building placements on terrain, no guest interactions, no dinos herding, they don't sleep, they all mostly have the same attack animations, and even the smallest dinos can escape from a concrete electrified fence.

The game was most definitely not worth the £45 asking price (for the deluxe, which is a must have for any JP fan), and I know we'll have access to JW Fallen kingdom dinos, but there is still a lot more work to be done. Apart from that, the game runs fine on my end and looks decent. It just needs more QoL and map adjustments.

Oh, this must be that ray tracing coprocessor Machiavellian was talking about. I don't know how Microsoft it going to be able to put one of these into each Scarlet unit though.

I would love one of these, but I want to wait until 7nm before my next upgrade.

What? Did I miss something technical and juicy?

You and CGI are the only ones that I thought could use this, but only because you always go for the extreme

I don't think CGI would go with an AMD processor though, could be wrong about that.
I think he is going with the Intel 28 core chip at some point?

I am just waiting for DRAM and GPU's to drop in price and then I can complete my new Coffee lake rig.
No way in hell am I paying $800 for only 32GB of ram, that's some bullshit.

Call me when it's actual millions. Fuck that local dimming shit. Apparently micro LEDs are still far off from being made into anything useful at a decent price so they try to butter us up with some inferior transitional mini LED technology.

Meanwhile OLED still does what LED can't do and it's getting better every day, yet no one bothers to use it.

I think we may end up transitioning to RGB LED anyway before OLED actually catches on in big displays.
Some of the concept panels have been extremely impressive.

That sucks. I have such fond memories of Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis on Xbox and PC.

Some Fallout experts here? I'm itching to buy Fallout 4. I never really cared for post apocalyptic settings, though I do like to wander through desolate wastelands. I want to have a sneaky sniper build where I can one shot things from afar. I like to pick locks and explore distant places for awesome loot.

Will I be able to do this in Fallout 4? I remember quite some years ago I instantly dropped Fallout 3 after the introduction because I got bored.

That's great news . I played the first one a lot, which i got on sale. It had it's flaws but still was very fun. The second one may be day one.

@Machiavellian: You didn't miss much, just his opinion: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=236730

And well, I didn't say that you two would buy it, just that you are two of the few on this site that could actually consider going for something like that. Another one could be Burning Typhoon because he streams, but I think he's happy with his 1800X.

As for the insane DRAM prices, maybe (but just maybe) this will help bringing them down a bit: http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/dram-makers-likely-to-get-fined-millions-(if-not-billions)-on-antitrust-fines-in-china.html

Talking again about monitors, some people can be having more than they asked for, but with worse results:

Your 1440p Monitor Could Be Using a 4K Panel
https://www.techpowerup.com/245367/your-1440p-monitor-could-be-using-a-4k-panel
German site Prad.de reports that sources close to monitor panel manufacturers told them that the production cost of a 27" 4K 3840x2160 panel is lower or at least equal to that of a 27" 2560x1440 QHD panel. This drives monitor manufacturers to use 4K panels in monitors that are specified as QHD - when panel supply is low, or monitor demand is high.

Obviously you're not gonna get 4K resolution when paying for a QHD monitor. Rather the panel firmware is configured to report its maximum capability as 1440p, and internally scale the input signal accordingly, which may result in reduced image quality.

In order to scale a 2560x1440 image to 3840x2160, the scaling factor is x1.5. This means that a single pixel in the lower-resolution original image gets mapped onto one and a half pixels, which increases blurriness. This is vastly different to a 4K display running with 1920x1080 input, where each pixel simply gets doubled in width and height, so a 1:1 mapping exists and everything stays sharp.

>>And they include a picture showing the difference between native 1440p (top) and scaled 1440p on a 4K panel (bottom).

I got the first one last week or so, when GOG decided to give it for free. Otherwise, I would have bought it during a Steam Sale.

I still have to try it, tho. Damn backlog!

I'm nowhere near ideal to comment on FO4, since I hate what Bethesda did to Fallout IP...

That said, you can have sneaky sniper quite easily...FO4 is more of a shooter than RPG, so don't have to rely on VATS for precision shots - quite opposite actually, I was one-shoting enemies at distance even when VATS would show 0% chance (one of many reasons why I disliked FO4) through my own skill. If you're not bothered by such crap in what's supposed to be RPG, than you might enjoy it.

Oh, and we need to talk about power armor - something that is final armor in FO1/2...you get it here almost right at the start...for that reason I opted out of ever touching any of power armors and played the whole game without it...silly, silly Bethesda.

You're right, you are nowhere near ideal to comment on Fallout 4^^

Since I don't give a shit about the franchise I should be able to enjoy it. Also it has sexy mods which should provide further entertainment.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Honestly, I'd suggest a build, but F4 ran like gutter trash for me, with and without mods, so I never got the chance to really find viable builds.

Well, Fallout 1/2 are one of my all time favourites, so yeah, I didn't take kindly to what Bethesda made out of IP, especially with FO4, which is barely RPG.

But if you don't care for IP, I guess all I can say is knock yourself out with FO4.
