Forums - Microsoft - How Titanfall Taps The Power Of The Xbox One

Game Informer

While Titanfall is also being released for PC and Xbox 360, the developers at Respawn Entertainment are focusing much of their attention on getting the game up and running on the Xbox One. Since the Xbox 360 version of the game is being developed by a separate unnamed developer, the relatively small team at Respawn is working closely with Microsoft on locking down the features and specs for the next-gen version of their impressive new game.

Watch the video below to hear studio co-founder Vince Zampella and producer Drew McCoy talk about how the team is taking advantage of the power of the Xbox One and some of the new features like cloud computing.

without the cloud the 360 version gonna be so shitty, they should really patch the 360 with a cloud update and let us download some extra rams

Nothing new.

Servers and some AI in the cloud.

And the same BS PR talk, "this game wouldn't be possible without the cloud". "we're a small studio so we wanted to concentrate on a limited amount [three!] of platforms".

I was under the impression that the 360 is capable to access the cloud to some extent.

Yep. Dedicated servers will also go to the 360 for at least a few years.

There seems to be some confusion here. Respawn is using the cloud for dedicated servers instead of peer-to-peer multiplayer seen in most console games. PCs have had dedicated servers for almost every multiplayer game in existence. Unless they want to pull a MW2 on PC gamers, they too will have dedicated servers. That's what the "cloud" is, something PC gamers have had since the beginning of multiplayer FPS. Maybe there will be some AI optimizations (something dedicated servers on PC can also do), but other than that PC will be the best platform for Titanfall.
