My father bought a Lumia 920...you need to download apps for so many trivial things, judging by his reaction WP8 is not awesome at all.

WTF?

LOL.

Its the opposite. WP8 has  stuff in built into OS. Android and IOS you need apps. WP8 you dont need appss for trivial things. Thats a selling point of WP8.

LOL.

You can't even use a custom sound for incoming SMS without downloading an app. Don't try to talk BS here.

I was referring to things like contact integration, Vision, etc that on oher os you need an app for. Although Android has integrated alt of these now its mainly IOS whos the lag on this.

But you are right, there is some odd issuses regarding as you say.

I've had a WP7 for about 2.5 years.

It sucks. It sucks bad.

In front of Android it is nothing.

I really want to own a Windows phone. The OS looks great and Nokia makes some really good quality phones. I think I'm gonna sell my Iphone soon and get one.

I got Nokia Lumia 920 recently. Pretty happy with it. I used Android (Galaxy S2) and Iphone 3G before this one in the last 5 years. I had more apps downloaded on both of those but i rarely used any. I didn't have problem with either in any way. Same applies here.

I mainly use my phone for calling, messaging, email, browsing web (shortly), maps in emergency (offline maps are great) and RSS reader feeds. Well and music and camera too. So i really don't feel the need for things like Instagram and thousands of other apps which are a big deal to people who talk about phones on the internet.

The OS still needs work with adding notification bar, multi tasking and some other quirks available on android which were recently added to ios.

Hold down back button. Hello multitasking.

Also Live Tiles negates notification bar.

Yea i know about the back button. Should have clarified more by saying ability to close apps easily by swiping or click some close button on them. At the moment all i know is we have to keep on pressing "back" button till it closes. I hear they are fixing this is in 8.1 update.

You can't on Android either...well you can't on the Galaxy SIII at least (and if it's not possible there, then where?)

But in general WP8 and Windows 8 in general already has almost every app you would need by default integrated right in the phone.

Yo-john117 - Thanks for joining this thread, and I hope that it has been a positive experience for you as it has been for myself. I am going to take the time to invite you to the other thread of mine, on Gartner's statement of the forthcoming platform marketshare, particularly wrt Windows mobile.

Well, I had a Windows Mobile phone. Jeez, that device was just horrible.

No personal experience with Windows Phone however - just in case you're actually talking about that. ;)
