I'm guessing that any attempt to talk to the government to give people a cheaper product is good. The alternative could be them not even trying and presenting a console only marginally cheaper, or equal in price to the xbox one.

You're overreacting. I really don't believe the X1 will be preordered en masse, with people knowing the PS4 is coming this year.
Even then, it's surely heavily supply constricted.
| ethomaz said: What Sony announced? PS4 will launch in Brasil at the same date than US. Why they didn't give any price or opened preorders yet? Because they are discussing with government to get a deal for a better price here. For they have time to do that... the launch of PS4 is in November... so they have a lot of time to make a good deal with the government. |
^listen to what this man has to say!
You've diverged from your own topic and are now just ranting... why didn't you make this a topic about politics in the first place?

Barking at the wrong tree dude, I will not buy the Xbox One, I am going to buy a PS4 and that is that. I agree with you that the import taxes are absurd, but I sure would like to see pre-orders from Sony.br, and I am very curious about the price too. |
I can see that from your signature. But since we don't know the price of PS4, I used Xbone as an exemple.

Well, I stand for what I have said first: SONY.BR HAD THE BALL, EVERYBODY went silent, waiting for Sony.br move, and they dropped.
I will wait and buy a PS4, but in stores the only option for next gen right now is the XBOX ONE, they lost the chance of getting some dozens of thousands of pre-orders.
I will apologize if they anounce a VERY LOW price down the road, like 700U$D, I will applaud and say: "Man, I was so wrong".
But, as I see it right now, Sony Brazil made a mistake.
And, as far as what Cerny and Stanley said, THEY ARE INSANE, they will never be able to sell the PS4 at R$1000, THEY HAD TO MAKE A FREAKING FACTORY in Manaus to get some taxes cut in the PS3, to sell it at 500 U$D here.
The problem with Sony is that they are a company that assumes everyone plays fair, and, in reality, at least in Brazil, nothing is freaking fair.
I will stick to what I said man: Sony Brazil dropped the ball on this one, pre-orders should be avaliable.

You are 100% right, but I know my government, sony will not get a fair deal from these pricks.
| WagnerPaiva said: Sony drops the ball in Brazil, Microsoft.br opens pre-orders for Xbox One in all major brazilian retailers, Sony refuses to even anounce the brazilian PS4 price. It started today: If you log into the major retailers sites in Brazil you can pre-order a Xbox One for the (high) price of R$ 2199 (1000 U$D), which is a normal price for Brazil since we have the highest taxes in the world (and the worst and most corrupt politicians). Anyways, at the same time, Sony.br REFUSES to anounce a price, a launch date or even to allow pre-orders on the PS4. I talked to them by e-mail, chat, comments and even hotline, and they ignored me completelly: We have nothing to anounce, dear costumer. Ok them, I will play ball, FUCK YOU SONY BRAZIL. I will import my PS4 from Amazon and you guys can just go on as the most incompetent branch of Sony worldwide. |
Unfortunetely, because of people like Brazil won't change any time soon.
If for ONCE, it's not the corporation you should attack but only and mainly the government, it's really in Brazil.
Would it even do well at whatever price it got? I remember hearing PS3 sell for the equivalent of $1000 in Brazil a few years ago, which is expensive in the developed world yet alone a country like Brazil

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

Dude, everything at the right time, ok? We will not change the country so I can pre-order a freaking video game. Believe me, I am not the reason Brazil is the way it is, I read, I am gentle while driving, work hard, help my fellow human beings, do not watch soccer, do not even take drugs and NEVER stole or did anything wrong to cause harm to others.
You should live 1 month in here, I will show you who are the people that keep Brazil shitty, it will change your life.

That's exactly why Brazil won't change, again because of people like you who waste time complaining that the price of consoles are expensive instead of directly attack those who are responsible and that you discretely mentionned : the government.
