Some Totally Hatin' on PlayStation Home

We're pretty excited about PlayStation Home. Theoretically, it sounds cool, and we are keen to see how it plays out. But that's us. What does Japan think? Dunno! We do know what readers of Japanese game mag Famitsu think and they're hating on it. In the most recent issue of the mag, the question was "What do you think about member services like PlayStation Home?" Here's the breakdown:
• 27.3 percent are interested in trying it out
• 37.3 percent don't care
• 35.4 percent dislike such services
Yikes! Quotes to drive home the hatorade after the jump:

Says a high school student: "I won't allow myself to be trapped in some fake reality." A 22-year-old college student: "It just doesn't look like it'd be fun as a game." A 24-year-old company guy says "It's more fun to enjoy myself in the real world."

I'm excited about Home but also apprehensive about whether it will be any good, it has potential, I imagine there are more people who aren't interested than are

but it's okay to get trapped in some fake reality through Mangas and animes?

Conclusion, Japanese are weird/they need to survey more people.

Its a pretty big misconception that all Japanese like anime. Manga, yes, but anime, no.

I roffled. I can't have been the only one to read it that way?

Anyways this just solidified my early assumptions in that HOME won't be that big of a deal.

Something else I notice is that people say it's a game when I think it's more of a user interface than some 'game'. Sure, you can customize your own little place and your character, but it's more of a visual representation of the network system and not only that, it's a free service.

Somebody might say, "A character and an apartment to customize? This looks stupid!", but I say "I can't wait till I can finally meet up with friends, party up, and jump into an online match!"

Perhaps I'm looking at it deeper with all the features and not at face value (ex- The Sims or Second Life knockoff)?

Doesn't surprise me that Japan doesn't care. Does anybody in America or Europe care? This will not become a selling point for the console. It is not a big deal at all.
