I don't know but here in Argentina the Wii U is about 7000 AR$ wich is a mighty lot for a single console. I think if you translate it to dollars assuming it's about 4,50 dollars an AR$: 1600 US$. Altough this problems arise thanks to the "Cepo Cambiario" where we can't buy dollars and the dollar on the parallel market is about 8 AR$ for a single dollar :( it even reached as high as 10 US$ once. So with this in mind anyone knows how much the ps4 will be here? I am guessing about 8000 AR$... :(

The official Dollar here is 5,37 Pesos (or AR$, whatever) = 1 US Dollar today. The "parallel" Dollar is around 8,00 Pesos = 1 US Dollar today (I keep repeating "today" because this thing changes every freaking day... specially the parallel one that keeps going up and down all the time). It really hasn't been 4,50 Pesos in a while...

The Wii U is $ 4256.65 for the 32GB Deluxe Set (792,67 US Dollars with the official price or 532,08 US Dollars if you're talking about the parallel price... though no one will sell at 532,08 Dollars because it's more convenient for them to charge you 792,67, lol) and $ 3799.99 for the 8GB Basic Set (707,63 US Dollars with official price,  474,99 US Dollars with parallel price)

Basic: http://www.cdmarket.com.ar/View/5905/nintendo-wii-u-8gb-basic-set.aspx

I really don't know how much the PS4 will be because there are still a few months to go until release and both "types" of Dollars will most probably be totally different than they are today since they keep changing every day... But you should compare it with something of simillar price... I THINK (not sure) the GTX 770 is 399 US Dollars in the US... and here it costs between 4199,99 Pesos and 4799,99 Pesos (782,12 - 893,85 US Dollars with the official price today )

But it's kinda hard to compare a videocard with a PS4 even if they cost the same in the US because a console sells more than a high end videocard... and the hotter the product, the higher it will be priced here... specially when we're talking about a new PlayStation, lol xD.

Oh, and this is all talking about the kinda illegal market... if you talk about places where they sell everything "legaly" we should be adding around 75% more to what I just said, lol xD

So... I don't know... it COULD be 8000 Pesos IF the dollar is even higher than it is today... but right now, if it was launched today, it should be around 4200-5500 Pesos in "illegal" places :P higher in official retailers. I'd say... if it costs 399 Dollars in the US, make it 800 or more here (talking about the official Dollar)... it's what usually happens.

Yeah on the illegal market we can get those prices you posted xD. And CD market has a very good price for the Wii U but when talking about the 7000 AR$ I was refering to the price on Electronic Things (where i buy most of the games XD) where it is about 7032$ the Deluxe model: http://www.electronicthings.com.ar/nintendo-wii-u/consolas/nintendo-wii-u-32gb-deluxe-set.html?pid=16272 and I was taking that as a reference for the PS4 price on that site. Altough you are right that we could get it at 4200-5500 range in other places and I sincerely hope it's that way. Still I think I will ask a friend that goes to the US to get me one... but I have to look into that matter as there are problems with the aduana that I would want to avoid :/

Woah, I wonder why it's so much more expensive there... even games are more expensive :O They used to be around the same price as CDMarket O_o. It's been a while since I last bought something at Electronic things though... I prefer CDMarket personally :P

I also hope it's that way but whatever... if it's 8000 I'll still buy it xD. I'm not going to buy at launch though... the only PS4 games I'm interested in are MGSV and FFXV and they aren't launch games so... nothing to play at launch if I buy it, I'll have to wait :S

Yeah I used to buy at CD market but I don't know why I stopped... Anyway yeah I will probably do the same and buy the console a year and a half after release when more games come altough MGS 5 is very tempting xD. FFXV I think won't come until Q4 of 2014 xD.

Also you have a point, CD market from what I see have the better deals.  I should start going back there :P

You would be paying more if you imported it yourself.

US$ 499 + US$ 80 of shipping  =  R$ 1279

R$ 1279 + 60% of import taxation =  R$ 2046

R$ 2046 + 18% of ICMS =  R$ 2414

Final price would be R$ 2414 =  US$ 1092

Microsoft must have made some agreement with the  goverment to reduce taxes a little bit or got a discount for the shipping costs.

The ICMS is estimated over the value of the receipt just like the import fees, exactly at the same time on that since their taxable event is the same.... but yeah, that'd be $952 USD instead of some $800 USD, which I had originally estimated for the PS4 and somehow slipped there.

From personal experience, it has never costed me or my relatives more than double the original value, that I can totally guarantee you - if you wait for the simplest form of shipping, that is. So it remains to be seen how much a dollar will cost in reais to see if it's going to be worth it or not.

Anyways there are numerous things you can try if you aren't satisfied. For instance, since the customs merely sample imported goods instead of checking them all, you can import it from somewhere else and hope it isn't caught so you pay no fees at all, or place the XB1 as some sort of bonus of other kind of imported good who isn't legally taxed, and get both of them lumped together.

Or do as I will and cross the Paraguayan border.
