Forums - Gaming - Will the PS4 represent 50% better performance than the X1

I'd be interested in knowing Sony's cloud setup because even if the PS4 is more powerful than the Xbox, 300,000 servers is a lot of potential to tap into as the generation goes on.

none this matter unless third parties support the console...
Both have great support as of today
However, its up to Xbox one to win back customers after all the PR screw ups
I rather would have preferred a cheaper xbox one without kinect...
DRM does not matter to me

I don't get all these sony fan boy posts on this site
I really had a good laugh the sony cares about gamers while xbox one doesn't

What? I'm in Melbourne and I've very rarely experienced lag on Diablo 3. Especially rubber banding. I get the obvious amounts of ping but it's far better than trying to play Halo 4 on a US peer host.

As a resident of Sydney who has expirience 300ms ping for Diablo versus 80 ping on FPS, trust me the difference is like day and night. Right now you're living in the night and don't know the pain your suffering because it has always been night, be glad... ~_^

Hmm, I've had ping that high up often too but it usually sits in the 180-220 range. Maybe it's my ISP or something making the difference. I'm with Internode, which is a small sister company of iiNet. You?

TPG which is pretty rubbish, (hey its cheap :P) I should probably switch to internode - they definitely are better for gaming, but even 200 ping is kinda meh. I know gamers that chuck a fit if the ping is above 100 for fps. Myself - whislt I do notice the difference-  is humble enough to enjoy what I got.

How do you go with other games? Under 100?

Only if they have Australian server. Otherwise between 200-300ping for US, 400ping for Russia, 300ping for Europe and 250ish for Singapore.

No, not double. If you look at vanilla GPU specs of PS4, it is slightly above 7850, and XOne is close to 7770. However, XOne GPU appears to be cut down 7790, so it does have some things better than 7770, plus MOVE engines and eSRAM to make up for lower bandwidth, effectively making it faster than 7770. Of course, PS4's GPU also has its own enhacements, so difference in performance will probaly remain the same as vanilla 7850 to 7770...which is around 50%.

1) The ESRAM is to make up for the 60% slower RAM.  Even then it is still not as fast (Theoretically) as GDDR5.  Slightly more cores, much worse RAM, and 20% slower clock (800MHz vs 1000MHz) = 7770 at best, but probably closer to a 7750.

2) The GPU in the PS4 IS stronger than a vannilla 7850 with those enhancements as well.  It should easily catch up to a 7870.

3) A 7850 is already over twice as stong as a 7750, and 50% stonger than the 7770.  Then the 7870 is about twice as strong as a 7770 as seen here:

http://www.techspot.com/review/661-nvidia-geforce-gtx-650-ti-boost-sli/page2.html

Anyone with a solid understanding of AMD's current GPU archetecture will tell you the same as I have (And I am an Engineer so this is kind of MY JOB).  But if you don't believe me, maybe some actual developers will convince you:

http://www.gamechup.com/jonathon-blow-some-games-could-be-60fps-on-ps4-and-30fps-on-xbox-one/

Last time I've checked, XOne's GPU was cut down 7790 (so more geometry engines/command processors than 7770) with very similar base memory bandwidth of 7770 (68.2 vs 72 GB/s). So you're telling me that with all the additional enhancements MS put in, it will perform at best as 7770? Sure, whatever makes you tick...

Just to avoid unnecessary back and forth discussion, I think PS4's GPU will perform somewhere in between 7850 and 7870, and XOne's in between 7770 and 7790...so, depending on the game, some 40-60% difference in favor of PS4. You're certainly welcome to your opinion, since, as you put it, it's YOUR JOB.

I like how you just completely ignore my links.  Also "Cut Down 7790", "Suped Up 7770,"  these statements mean nothing.  It is its own card made from similar components on the same archetecture.  Stop talking about how strong it is unless you are actually going to do some of the math and research YOURSELF.  Otherwise you are just putting your head in the sand everytime someone who actually knows what they are tells you REALLITY.

Internode was bought out by iiBorg/iiNet, but it still runs it's own network and identity.
With that said, I'm also with Internode as they have the down-right best Network, but you're also on the east coast, add another 50-100ms ping for those in S.A or W.A.
When the game launched, it wasn't unusual to have pings jump into the 1000 range for me.

What links? Benchmark that shows difference between 7870 and 7770? Wow! Want me to provide you with 10 more of those? What exactly that proves? That 7870 is 2x 7770? Congrats, but you're about year and then some late to the party.

And please don't make me laugh me with your other link - just because one developer said (and I respect Blow very much, so I'm not downplaying him) that something that runs on PS4 @60fps might be running on XOne @30fps, you're drawing the conclusion it's automatically 2x difference in raw power...guess what, there's this thing called VSync, so you either can go with 60 or 30. Haven't you said you're engineer or something?

Here is, since you like links so much (that prove or disapprove anything really), what Ubisoft has to say about it:

http://www.videogamer.com/ps4/watch_dogs/news/xbox_one_and_ps4_have_comparable_power_says_watch_dogs_producer_2.html

Unlike you obviously, I've done ton of research and math on the matter, so my judgement, though some here might call me Sony fan, is not clouded. I suggest YOU do some researching too before spewing anymore of that random nonsense, and maybe then, and after you drop that pompous act in your posts, we might continue this conversation, but until then, I'll be more than glad to keep you on my IGNORE list.
