This is true, and the reason why launch comparisons are almost meaningless.  I don't even start thinking about comparisons until supplies are steady and the initial demand has leveled out.

At OP. It may be 2:1 based on supply constraints alone. If MS fixes those(or were false rumours), it will be anyone's game. If supply were no issue for either console this year, I'd say the Xbox One would be in favor of 2:1 based on its broader appeal and more features/better online services.

Price is the only factor in PS4's favor now.

X1 will outsell PS4 2:1, M$ have a lot of money to waste on advertising, Sony can't risk too much.

Well, I wouldn't go as far to say as Price is the only factor. Everyone has their reasons for getting a console over another. For example even though the Ps3 was more expensive this whole generation its sold more than the Xbox... so it had to be based on something other than just price. The question is whether people will find the features in the Xbox worth that extra $100. I don't know the answer to that...personally Kinect doesnt do it for me. I'll get one when the price is alot lower.

I don't like to draw comparisons with this generation, as the wii/wii-u has shown a different generation can have a different outcome.

For me the inital doing well/PR will be the company that can get the most stock into stores with no problems (i.e no faulty hardware or big news issues). If MS are really supply constrained *AND* the PS4 isnt, then i think it can create a gap against the Xbox quite quickly... partly because of cost, but also taking into account the bad press about DRM/Power. As this generation has shown (see i didnt want to do that...lol)... Sony has been pretty good to keep up with MS and only generally struggled at Christmas when MS released Kinect and Heavily discounted, with price and product being ahead of MS.. Sony might be able to take the early advantage and build on it. 

If people go into a store at Xmas looking for a console and they cannot get an XboxOne, they might be inclined to pick up a different console, if their friends are doing this then a bit like the "brought an Xbox because my friends have one"... early last gen, could reap rewards for Sony.

So there are a lot of if's and butts about that. Sony hasnt even released a release date yet (Has MS, or did they just say November??)
