Forums - Gaming - Sharing With 10 Friends Was Better Than Used Games, You Guys Complained For Nothing

The cons outweighed the pros, it was worth the change. Well, I'm kind of sad that now MS will do better than they would have with their initial policies.

Screw the rest of the world, this was good for me. Who cares about people that live in countries like Portugal, anyway?

Fair enough....don't wanna argue about this as we clearly have a different point of view and different sides to our story.

But for the record, you can't do it on Xbox without your Gamer ID on a second console.  If my friend wants to play on his console, he has to use my gamer ID.

On PS3 you can share 2 consoles at a time, again using your gamer ID to install and then play with his. Not very convenient if you ask me.

Not as convienant, sure, but doable. Just can't share with total strangers. lol but I can't even do that on my Wii U (yet).

Yep. This basically sets console gaming back another 5-7 years while other products continue to cut into it's market share. Congrats, gamers. You just doomed console gaming's ability to survive this decade.

The parallels of this to the ending of a recently released AAA game prove irony's still got it ...

I'm sorry but for the majority of us who don't buy crappy, scratched pre-owned discs from Gamestop, this new MS policy isn't a win at all. Being able to share games with 10 friends/family members was a huge win for gamers, but IMO the people who cried about it basically screwed the rest of us over.

The only thing I wanted dropped was the 24 hour check in, but really even that wasn't so bad if it was changed to like a weekly check in.

Through my friends I could've had effective access to like 2-3x as many games, now that ain't happening.

I would have loved the sharing of 10 titles as well... maybe it can be still be done for those who buy digital? I have no idea.

BTW, scratched blu-ray discs? That must take a lot of effort.

It's just that simple.

I can't see how anyone could argue used games was a bad thing yet making it so only 1 person out of 10 needed to buy a game at all was good. How the industry could think that, I don't know.

"Why buy Bishock Infinite when my mate has it? I'll just 'share' his copy when he's not playing it."

Hmm, pie.

how this seting gaming back 5-7 years, what is cutting in the maket share of gaming, they just post a record breaking revenue last year.

It is not confirmed that they arent sharing games still so wait for confirmation on that.

EDIT: NVM, yes im upset about it too now.

It' confirmed? FFS... Everyone would have caught on in a few years. MS should have stayed the course!

Steve Jobs and Gabe Newell must be laughing their asses off right now.

"We do DRM and offer awesome things that come with digital distribution and people love us and call us cutting edge. Microsoft does it and all hell breaks loose".

Seriously though...what happens when it turns out that you bought half of your library on disc and next gen is backwards compatible but has no bluray? Will people be pissed? I bet so...

What if there is no next gen? Instead we may see newer x86 machines being released in a hardware cycle upgrade that is tied to OS version(like smartphones and tablets). For example Xbox Live Desboard 4.3 and all games utilizing the features need Xbox One V2.0 hardware and higher. Your entire digital library following you around on different consoles is impossible now if you buy a single disk based game.

Sorry man...while game is isntalled, disks have to be in the tray.

These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray.

And yeah this is complete BS. People don't realize how ass backwards console gaming will be next gen cause of this. Actually hope Microsoft makes you everyone buy the Xbox and flips the switch 3 years into the console cycle.

It makes sense.

You don't want a disc? buy digital.

But I want the freedom to do what I want with the physical media I purchase.

What freedom are you looking for?

You bought a physical media and would like to share it with a friend who lives a 20 minute car ride away? You want the freedom to choose a curier to his house? FedEx or UPS?

I bought a digital game and would like to share as well...no freedom for me.

You don't want freedom, you want to be able to buy used and resell and not pay full price.

I have never once sold a game. I bought a few used games. I have borrowed loads of games. Some off people I would never add to my "family" on Live. This in turn has made me buy the next game in the series day one. But that is about 20 games out of almost 500 games spreading accross 9 consoles. And I still have every one of them somewhere in my house. I should break out the commadore 64 again.

So I'm not sure what you're getting at saying that people only want to buy used just because they didn't support all this DRM.
