I heard they are making a new style to the ds which is suppose to be smaller than the lite and not have a gba slot.

Nope, this comes from a buddy a work. One of his friends let slip they had already been working on a DS2 game so that's about all the information I have and feel free to take that with a grain of salt.  I won't be offended if people don't believe that one because I know I probably wouldn't. 

We were talking though, and we thought would be awesome is if it played Gamecube games.

 Why would Nintendo screw themselves over by pissing everyone off and releasing a new handheld thus making their DSs obsolete when the current one is still selling at lightning speed? It makes no sense whatsoever.

When DS slows down in sales,which should be late 2011 with over 150.000.000 DS sold.
