Oh c'mon nobody here thinks that X1 can take out Wii U or PS4 out of the industry after this gen? Really!!!?

I think they can the X1 is clearly a future proof device, Sony and Nintendo are just delaying the inevitable. Anyone who cannot see that clearly lives in a bubble and refuses to see truth.

The gaming industry has its standards and we Apples standards are not our own. Microsoft doesn't speak for gamers, they never and they never came into this industry to, so they so they should stop forcing us into their plans to beat Apple. Full digital isn't going to stick until 10-15 years from now. Console gamers value their game ownership. Apple isnt a gaming company and their products are made for the general public. If they want to make an AppleXbox one then so be it, they just dug their own graves and alienated millions of gamers with their own greed.

Than who speaks for gamers? Sony? Nintendo? Please just like MS they have their own agenda which is to mint as much money for their customers as they can. MS can do two things at once if they want too, Apple is becoming a bigger threat to them than any other company. I could elaborate more but i honestly could give a fuck. You have your opinions i have mine.

10-15 years? Are you kidding me? Its going to happen a whole lot sooner. Look at the Music industry their going full digital real soon. Gaming going to follow whether you like it or not. The Xbox is not going to roll over and die like many of you hope. If the RROD did not kill them, used game policies and interent requirments definitely wont.

You do know that music and video games are two entirely different types of media, right? Music is widely distributed digitally because the files are very small (a few megabytes) and thus, are very easily distributed. Video games, on the other hand, are several times larger than songs. Just look at MGS4. The game took up all of a double-layered Blu-Ray rom (50 gigs) and that's a current gen title. 10-15 years may be a little far fetched, but it will still take a long while for digital distribution of video games to be widely used.

As for the bolded, that's a non sequitor. Used game policies and internet requirements are very different problems from the RROD problem.

Sony has always provided third parties with the platform they've desired for mainstream gaming, which is why the first Playstation sold over 100 million. Everyone got what they wanted. Sony did the impossible at that time which was expand gaming whilst keeping gaming at its core intact, which is why the industry has expanded. Nintendo is the classic that has always been a commercial beacon of what console gaming is and stands for. Microsoft came into gaming and so did the restrictions, but I thank them for helping out with online gaming even though they were still doing that for the Dreamcast by the wayside.

Yes...I am not kidding..10-15 years. They were talking about this on the Bonus Round with industry experts when they were discussing consumer vs publisher relations and the pricing of games if as they condition gamers for full digital gaming later on. If you want us to relinquish our ownership of hard discs, loosen up the licensing and let us keep our games transferrable on a cloud from one console to the other, adjust the pricing and keep it competitive to the point where when discs are phased out we wont complain.

IE: Action Adventure games without multiplayer should be $40, Hack 'N Slash $20-30 (depending on the size), Multiplayer games with large replay value are $60, with fighting games being $20 or free to play starting with DLC packs and JRPG's can be $50. Times are changing so the prices of certain games need to be changed accordingly if you dont want used games and to up initial sales.

MS took the 100% corporate American route and left gamers out to dry and now they have been trying to mend their ways yet are proving nothing by saying that they will change nothing. Ugh...more mixed messages.

I am not going to argue anymore with anyone. Defending Xbox is pointless, i think thats why all the MS supporters on this site are so quite.

The Xbox started off selling decently and having its share of shooter fans and PC game enthusiasts on the console (half of that is because MS was supposed to be protecting PC gaming from Sony then took all their top games to continue their struggle). Theres nothing stopping the fun of the original Xbo from happening this gen. MS just brought themselves back to square one.

I personally don't see much of a market for a bulky and expensive Xbox media center over future smart TV/Tablets which will offer most of the same services.

If Microsoft DID happen to take out the competition this coming  gen, it would have been for all the wrong reasons...

I don't think anyone is saying that Microsoft can't be #1 this Generation, it is just nearly impossible that they'd dominate to the point of killing off Sony or Nintendo.

Plus, if the 360 couldn't outsell PS3, what makes anyone think XB1 could outsell PS4? Sony is doing much better this time around at the starting point. So while, they could be the top seller, it's pretty unlikely.

Do you really believe that Sony hasn't future-proofed PS4? Wii U isn't just going to die either...

I know you think that. So, that is one person who thinks it.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Busting my chops for talking about handhelds. Just compare the sales of 3DS in America to the iPod or iPad. You should get a good laugh from it. Every kid I see these days has an iPod touch.

You're comparing dedicated handheld video game consoles, to devices that millions of people own, many of whom DON'T play video games. That as slanted as it gets.
