I disagree. If it wasn´t for the need to push hardware, we wouldn´t have gems like UNCHARTED, HEAVY RAIN and THE LAST OF US. Naughty Dog bosses said in various interviews that Sony asked them when doing the Uncharteds: "Make us a system seller".
And it worked. I bought my PS3 for Uncharted 2, stayed for Heavy Rain and love it because THE LAST OF US.

Honestly we could use another PS2 era of gaming.
No I don't mean total domination in terms of one console vastly outselling the rest. Although that might be a prerequisite.
What I mean is the ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE number and variety of games. The PS2 library was simply absurd. This last gen has been fun, but it's no match. I think the growing number of indie and small developers are going to play a much bigger role in creating a huge library like this for the next generation, too.

Yes, I stand correct, you have a great pint. PS2 had a massive amount of HORROR and RPG games. Since these are my favorite genres, I guess I want another PS2 era too, with throphies =D

Now, that these 2 next gen consoles are so similar in their architecture, devs will not have big problems in porting games. Also, with all the hype for PS4 I image many devs to make PS4 their lead platform in development.

Yes totally agree !! We had tons of games every month on ps2 back then, domination is good especially when you own that one console.
