Forums - Microsoft - PepsiCo to give away thousands of Xbox One consoles

Neowin

Microsoft will launch the Xbox One game console later this year in the US for $499.99. However, a lot of people will be able to get the console for free thanks to a new partnership with PepsiCo.

In a press release this week, PepsiCo stated they will give away thousands of Xbox One consoles this year via their Mountain Dew and Doritos brands. The website dewanddoritors.com is already live that will allow people to sign up to receive more details on the giveaway once they are available.

Ahead of that contest, the Major Nelson website is running an early giveaway that will offer two winners limited edition Mountain Dew and Doritos products that are both in black packaging with the Xbox One logo. We don't think you will want to drink or eat these snacks; they are likely to become collectors items if you win them.

In order to enter, people must post a comment on the Major Nelson website stating what Xbox One game they are most excited about. The contest ends on June 21st and two winners will be randomly picked from the list of comments. Sorry, this is just for US residents only.

Are they trying to generate bad will towards their company?

Or did Microsoft just give them the consoles because of the terrible E3 reactions.

This is the Game of Thrones

Where you either win

or you DIE

Pepsi still popular in USA?

Pepsi > Coke
PS4 > Xbox One

If I win I can just sell the Xbox One and buy a PS4.

Coke is like Nintendo.  They're the original big name brand.  But Pepsi is like Sony.  They copied and they're the best.  Microsoft is like that off brand that is alright as a substitute, but no one wants that over a main brand.

Trying to make a joke :P.

this is a really good marketing idea. it targets the exact demographic they are seeking
