When has a Mario platformer ever had online multiplayer? This really isn't that big of a deal although it would've been nice feature.

I dint really like playing games online so its not a big deal to me but sucks for people that do enjoy online.

The reason given is pretty weak. Having online multiplayer doesn't prevent local multiplayer.

Again, online play can only help sales as it makes any game a more worthwhile buy due to it's increased replayability and multiplayer options. Basically it'll more people happy, like me! Super Mario Cats was a definite buy for me after playing it, but then I saw this thread and now I'm not so sure as it'll just suffer the same fate as every Mario platformer other than Sunshine, which is once I beat the game, I'll never touch it again. |
of course it would have increase replayability and make more ppl happy.
but how many more sales would that bring ?
its a 3d mario, the first on the system. its a new one and no port.
everyone and their mother is buying this game once or twice. even without multiplayer (local or online)
idk how much it costs to implement an online multiplayer and buying the servers and paying the bandwidth for 5+ years.
but i think its more than they could make compared to those who wont buy it because of no online mp.
they could easily implement it if they wanted to i guess since they did it with other games and im sad they wont add it too.
but nintendo is a company to make money and not a charity to make us happy.
of course if they make money and us happy its great. but in the end the game will have a very high attach rate.
but who knows, maybe they'll add online mp with a patch in the future if many complain.
Everybody get on Miiverse and start complaining! We're getting Mother 2 right?

And proud member of the Mega Mario Movement!
Multiplayer online would have been a huge selling point. Imagine, the first multiplayer Mario platformer online! This would lure in more to buy, it also adds a ton of replay value.
I am in a similar boat as some. My friends aren't always available to play.
With online, I could play with anyone anytime.
In this day and age Ninty needs to embrace certain features.
Definitely buying the game either way.
