Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo: If devs are worried about used game sales, they should make better games.

I find it ironic that his own statements could be used against him. Make better games that isn't MARIO so I can purchase them :)

edit: aren't lul

Which can also be turned like this.. if third parties would stop making party games, cheap ports, generic cookie cutter first person, survival horror, first person adventure RPG's and updates that they sell as brand new games etc. we would probably not only purchase them.. but still be playing them.. (See there is multiple ways to use that statement.. )

Nintendo Wii by generations...

1. Wii

2. Wii U

3. Wii O U

Predictions made by gamers concerning the current Nintendo line up of games.

Pikmen 3= Little Bump to nothing. (Got Little Bump)

Wind Waker HD= Won't sell anything (The explosion happened here and at one time 4 Wii U games was in the Amazon top 100)

Super Mario 3D World= Won't help at all looks cheap. (Currently the most sought after Wii U game and continuing the Wii U increase.)

I agree with Reggie. The better the game the more likely you are to keep it in your collection.

But Nintendo now takes that stance because is not the market leader and has little 3rd party support. Back in the NES and SNES days Nintendo actually fought hard against the Game Rental Industry, they sued Blockbuster but lost at the end, although they did win the part about not being able to get the game booklet.

Uhm, Nintendo is leading both the 7th AND 8th gen.

Really?? Wii has only 40% of the Market and WiiU's market share at this point is irrelevant.  Handheld market yes, but the "used games" argument is most relevant to the console market.

Back in the NES/SNES days Nintendo was ALL AGAINST rental and used games.

Yet you still had Blockbuster carrying NES and SNES games back in the day.

Yes, because Nintendo lost the lawsuit.  The only part of the lawsuit Nintendo won was that Blockbuster could not include the game manual with the rental.

This is the problem with society these days. When someone makes a realization and changes their ways for the better we still feel the need to continue to bash their past. No matter how much better their values have gotten.

All games get traded in regardless of quality, including Nintendo games. So Nintendo talking crap here, I mean go to a store with used games and Nintendo titles will likely outnumber most others.

Way to combat used games is to make a quality title and add consistent post release support, mix free content with pay content. People will still trade in, but less of them.

That was the point Nintnedo was getting at. Glad you have such good reading comprehension. I go to gamestop and Nintendo games have the LEAST IN STOCK. And most of the time have the HIGHEST used game values. Though it also just isn't about how many are traded in it is about percentage. A lot of Nintendo games sold higher figures than a chunk of third party and even first party titles from PS3/360 so of course you're going to see more, but the overall percentage still could be less when you put it next to the amount of copies sold. Still especially with the 3DS I rarely see many first party used games old. And it's even hard to find new Nintnedo games for it I went to get Animal crossing and it was sold out at pretty much all the game stores in my area. Gamestop sold over 100 copies of them. And that was in my smaller city. Walmart sold similar amounts. Target was sold out as well. Same goes for a few other retail establishments. Nintendo isn't far off. I doubt you'll see many used copies of games like Animal Crossing floating around for a long while.

Or maybe Nintendo games don't get traded in because they lack any third party games.

people i know who own Mario bros or Mario kart are families who only own 4 or 5 games all gen. Of course some hardcore players own and trade on Nintendo consoles but with the wii many casual families owned next to nothing and probably have no idea about trading in. My sister in law has a wii and 5 games. The same games she had 2 years ago. She doesn't play them anymore but has never traded in her life.

xbox gamers and ps gamers demographic are much more into trading for the next big blockbuster.

Nintendo it has nothing to do with quality. Its got to do with your recent demographic.

Well then maybe other companies should adopt this "demographic" instead of replacing the real issue with the used games cover up.

It obviously works for Nintendo. Right?
