Confusing as Consumers have said they dont want it, Retailers dont want it, and now even publishers say they dont want it, although i feel EA are just trying to distance themselves now theyve seen the consumer fury.

Yet consumers speak louder with their wallets.. did Itunes music failed because of the DRM? Are people complaining they can't sell their smartphone apps? did Sim City not sell 1.5 million copies? Did we stop buying games with online passes? How is steam doing when we can't sell our steam games? Don't people use software like Adobe Creative Cloud.. which is a monthly subscription for the Photoshop software? We also didn't want to pay for multiplayer 10 years ago..

MS is pretty right when they say In a broader set of community, people don't pay attention to a lot of the details..

Yeah didnt iTunes drop DRM after Amazon came out with DRM free music shop and people started to leave in droves, long as theres another option, consumers on the whole make the educated choice.

well they are going for the future, maybe microsoft can afford to do it

I'm not surpised they are doing it right now.. better now then when we are mid gen.. These consoles are going to last 8 to 10 years.. 10 years ago we went nuts when they started to charge for multiplayer..

thats right,it is all business decisions, microsoft aren't a bunch of idiots,of course it is stormy seas right now but like i've said they know their market, people buy or they don't,

everything will be online oneday, for a lot of us we pretty well are, aren't we,if we are honest,i've just bought TLoU digi download right now as i have no shops near me anymore but i am not the majority of course but my high street is closing down before my eyes

regards to all the consumer rights and what not,no one is forcing people to purchase xbone

The balance is much in favour of publishers. Sony did a much better job to get the balance right between the 3 groups. Banning second hand games and having restrictions really makes us all losers

Publishers- less people will buy their games due to how expensive they are, may make some go bankrupt due to their ballooning budgets for games Eg THQ
Retailers- will shut down as they can not make money from 2nd hand games
Gamers- will play a much lesser variety of games and stick to what they love already leading to a lack of innovation by developers and stagnation of the industry

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

Nope.. some songs still have DRM.. others not.. people didn't leave in droves.. itunes accounts for 64% of the digital music sales while amazon counts for 16%.. consumers made the choice.. educated or not..

Still not sure your point, Pre orders at Amazon and GameStop both in the US, clearly show gamers are choosing the PS4. There not happy.

and yet the xboxone is at number 2.. it's not like its not charting.. besides preorders don't really mean a thing for a product with a lifespan of 8 years.. look at the first year sales of any console.. its not like those are the best years for them.. we'll see what the average consumer will buy in a few years.. 6 years ago we thought MS would be destroyed by Sony with the PS3 and it's free online.. I think the average consumer are much less worried about DRM then most of us here are believing.. the past and present have proven that..

No one saying its not going to sell, and yes there will be consuemrs that are still ignorant to all the facts, i would expect there to still be more shifting as they get educated closer to launch. But im talking about America, a territory that before E3 everyone said was a lock for MS, now there not even going to be ahead at launch on current pre orders. But Yes there will always be some that are ignorant to the facts and will get it because its what there use to, or even know the facts, but will still sell out as they want forza or halo.

THQ didn't die because of second hand sales. THQ died because they put all their eggs in the UDraw basket and it bled them dry. That and overpaying for licensing for certain franchises and sales not going as they expected.

What happened to them was not the consumers fault. Why do you blame yourself and agree on punishment?

Sure, they made some gue mistakes, but used game sales did not help either.
Ask the other 140 studios shutting down this gen.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
