That's right, even without having played the game yet, I'm saying this now! Just after looking at the trailer for Mario Kart 8, I'm already confident it will be the overall best Mario Kart, truely the definitive game in the series. From what we saw, it's seems it'll retain all the best elements from MK7, such as gliding/underwater n coins giving tracks more depth, customizable karts, and a rather balanced n sensible item line-up. It's also very likely that the gamepad will serve the same purpose as the 3DS's uber useful second screen, but idk if this was confirmed yet, though it really should be a no brainer. To go with all that, it'll of course have all the staple features we've come to expect from previous games in the series, so it's already on par MK7. Of course, there's much more to MK8 than that, hence why it's overall better. Obviously better graphics while still running at 60fps, but that's not all! MK8 has shown 12 characters. That's only 4 less than the total number MK7 has! Definitely safe to say the final game will have way more characters than that hehe.
Gameplay wise there's also the uber cool anti-gravity feature, which further increases the depth in tracks. Combine that with tricks, coins, items, gliding/undetwater, enemies, hazards, etc., and you'll find you're rarely just sitting there holding down the A button. Also, from Mario Kart Wii, once again you can have up to 12 racers and Bikes are back. This let's more players play and gives them more options, making more people happy. Initially I was skeptical about these features returning, but with the balanced item line-up, 12 players shouldn't be too chaotic, though it remains to be seen about the Bikes, but I'm sure they'll balance them aswell. Now for the online. They have a lot to improve on in this area, so it's no surprise MK8's online is the better than 7's. The main addition is the ability to save and share replays of races, which is something I've been wanting since I first heard about this in Brawl. Also, it sounded like we'll have more freedom in creating communitys, namely changing the rules and item selections, and perhaps who can join in, namely anyone. I don't remember this part very well so I'ma have to go back and rewatch the develper interview to be sure. Shoulda done that before starting this thread lol.
Lastly, there's a lot of things they could still do to make the game even better, such as re-including mission mode, 5-6 local player support with gamepad, and/or adding new cups which'll increase the total number of tracks. Perhaps have a vast assortment of kart parts a.k.a. a shop where players use their coins to buy stuff from. The possibilitys are endless, and there's still so much time before launch so it's safe to say there's more new features to come!
And so, after reading all this, you may agree that it's safe to say MK8 is the best Kart. I'll bet tomorrow is really gonna solidify this view once we get to play it! :D
