No i don't want a compromise, i want Microsoft to have zero restrictions and also i don't care about the cloud. I just prefer to own what i bought with my money, no restrictions

You are missing the point, the point of kinect is to help sell media hub device, it is marketing gimmick for the masses.

I own a xbox 360 with Kinect and I use it video chat and occasionally play a kinect game.  Guess what when I am not using it I can turn it off or disconnect it from the system completely and the 360 willl still function.

Would I recommend kinect to friend or relative for xbox 360 the answer is no.

I am guessing you would, but please respond.

I will probably buy an xbox one but not at launch.

You can do the same with Xbox One's Kinect. All except for disconnect it entirely.

It is a motion control method, not just some media gimmick.

I would only recommend it to a friend I knew was interested in motion control to begin with. Or I would have them try it out on my setup first.

Have fun showing off your xbox One make sure to tell friends that it always needs to be connected to internet and that the kinect is always on even when you disable it.  Those are all great selling points...just admit it Microsoft has let the Xbox 360 success to go their heads and missed the boat on xbox one.

Well the purpose of this thread is the hope that MS will offer a change similar to the OP so it wouldn't be always online required.

Either way, that's exactly the info I would tell them. Minus the "Kinect Always On" thing. That's not true and misleading. It is off/disabled. It only listens for one command in order to turn it back on (which makes perfect sense).

I'm sure most of my friends would not be bothered by the internet requirement because they all use the internet throughout their homes constantly already. The ones I would recommend the Xbox One to are the ones I already play with online on Xbox 360 or PS3 or PC. If I knew they lived in the country with no broadband access and no smartphone with 3G/4G access, I wouldn't recommend the Xbox One to them (unless MS gives gamers a choice like the OP suggests).

I can deal with the future of digital only...not a big problem if I want to play mike tysons punch out, I go play it on a emulator on my pc or phone. I am sure someone in the future will have a work around for the xbox one, what I can't deal with is being forced to buy a bundled accessory without another sku option...so no purchase for me at launch

So you would refuse to buy a console because it comes with a controller? Interesting. What are your thoughts on the wii u controller? Or the six axis motion controls and touchpad and lightbar of the Dualshock 4?

How dare companies include things in their SKUs integral to their console.

or you know... just buy a ps4?

Exactly. Microsoft has had weeks to change their policies and they've made it clear they don't care what we think. Their solution is to buy and Xbox 360 instead.

fine with cloud based... actually FINALLY damn it... it's a god damn time some one takes a stand and pushes probably the single best technological evolution since internet.... this if followed by others in a wide array of markets will push the infrastructures to an all new level... can't wait to have my terabit multiplexed laser beam internet connection... :D

no but seriously cloud computing is great way to cut cost on so many levels and has a vast number of advantages over current state of things....

and I love the privacy alarmists crowd.... cause we all know what you do in front of your kinect is so relevant that govs or corps want to spy on you and destroy your lives.... that shit always made me laugh.... they could out right tell me that they are watching recording and providing it to the government I still wouldn't care... I have nothing to hide, and even if do I doubt the govs or anyone cares what stupid shit i can do in front of the kinect.... heck I could be effing a donkey wearing a sailor moon costume... i still wouldn't care because nobody gives a damn about that...

people are just freaking funny with those things.... the only reason my FB is not fully open is for employment or professional reasons.... but honestly I highly doubt we'll ever see leaks of stollen privacy video coming from MS and being put on youtube..... so once again what a hell do you have to hide from your console ??? cause trust me MS won't be hiring people to watch what you do... they might analyze data through software to develop apps and marketing strategies but that's pretty much it.....

This whole DRM is blessing in disguise for Microsoft. Come on people real issue is Kinect always on and system will not work without it. They will have remove that or realease another SKU if they have any chance of success with XBOX ONE.

The only people who still worry about Kinect always on are conspiracy theorists or completely missed MS explaining all the customizing and disabling options... it does not pose a threat to anyone's privacy any more than a webcam on a laptop does.

They require it connected because it is an input type that is fully integrated with the console. Do you complain about not being able to disable a controller as an input device? No, because that would be silly :)

Always watching Kinect makes this one sad

Xbone... the new "N" word   Apparently I troll MS now | Evidence | Evidence

I have had internet for the last 10 years. I don't care, so I'm still getting one. I always buy new and the way I look at it, most gamers are really, really cheap. So I think they will have to change it. However I'm buying in anyway. I never will trust Sony ever again.

You are in the minority if you think kinect is an integeral method of control for gamers or even prefered method for navigating the UI in all the media hub features Microsoft has integrated into the xbox one.

What are your thoughts on the wii u controller? Or the six axis motion controls and touchpad and lightbar of the Dualshock 4?

Correct if I am wrong but these are control methods that you physically touch.

The kinect is not physical controller so why compare them.

I sure at some point the kinect or kinect like device will be available at the consumer level that will be able to do what a physical controller can do, but sir it will not be next generation and when I do purchase the new xbox one, my kinect accessory which is no way in hell integeral feature to me will remain off.

Integeral component...more like pr bs
