USB 3.0

external HDD no problem if required, can operate exactly like an increased internal drive.

You know external USB 3.0 HDDs are slow... really slow.

Why is this relevant with this thread?

because the inference was that you couldnt get extra stroage on a ONE.

nobody else had a problem with it and we engaged in a civil conversation thereafter.  why are you trying to cause trouble?

You enjoy accusing people who post "off-topic" items in MS threads yet it's okay for you to do it.

You are forever quick to accuse people of "causing trouble" when normally it's you who fires the first jab. Cut it out man, where is your self respect?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Great news... I think I will buy a SSD for my PS4.

And lol at the guys saying external HDDs is the same thing lol

Nice! I'm thinking 1TB hybrid drive ;)

Yeah, I'd rather buy the cheaper console (Wii U is still cheaper, but nevermind), brag about the price and throw out more money for controllers and Sony HDDs than I would on other platforms.
Makes perfect sense.

Throw more money than on other platforms? The PS4 is cheaper and has the same HDD size,  What are you on about?

And last I checked, internal HDDs are still cheaper than external ones.

But you're probably just misinformed. Sony aren't the ones used to charging premium for small ass proprietary HDDs...

That's not true. While USB 3.0 is still slower than a modern internal SATA connection, the difference is neglectable for current drives. The problem with additional external USB 3.0 HDD is not their speed.

I hope 500GB is all I'll need. I just hope HDD back up doesn't stop working. I was going to swap my 160GB for a bigger HDD but I could never get the back-up to run. I managed to do a back up when swapping the original 80 for the 160.

Excellent! And I don't have to lose a USB port like on XBone.

you're wrong on this.

they have confirmed that the external drive by USB 3.0 will be able to operate exactly as an internal drive, so install, game saves etc can all sit there and function correctly.

I don't believe it. I'm sure the core system etc. will not be installed to the external drive, just the non-mandatory parts like games, game saves, DLC etc.

But apart from that, there's a good chance that that's not even what ethnomaz meant.
